My sister and I did this on 21st Feb and had a wonderful experience. Our driver/market guide was lovely and all staff at the class were also so helpful and friendly. The location was open air type and beautifully set among the fields. We prepared some beautiful dishes and best part was eating this feast. It was great value and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bali that has a love of food.

Such a well planned class—from the pick up to visiting the produce market to the step by step cooking class in a serene location facing rice field.
The entire thing was seamless as every detail wad thought ahead of time and final presentation of the food was superb.
What an experience to better understand the Balinese culture.

What great way to learn a bit about the local cuisine and culture. We started with a market tour learning about the local ingredients.
Then were driven to a Rice field to understand the importance of Rice as a food stable and how rice is grown and harvested.
A group of 11 people in the class each had our own workstation for the preparation. Then we shared cooking duties 6 at a time for each dish.
There were plenty of support staff to assist if needed and then clean up after us.
When everything was cooked, we sat down to enjoy a delicious feast of local Bali cuisine. Highly recommend this cooking class.

Husband and I had a really fun time with these folks. We had a few days without anything planned in Ubud so decided to pick a local cooking class and this one didn't disappoint. We did the 8am pick up time so got to visit the market and learn about new foods we've never seen before. Very friendly staff drove us back to the cooking area after a bit and we had a refreshing drink while they got ready for us. We started with some discussion and hygiene and then started at our work stations. They were able to accommodate for vegetarians and a couple of us that are gluten free, as well. This was definitely a hands on experience but not anything to complicated. We were guided through each step with a few laughs in between. It was neat to get to know the other couples involved and ask questions about the local cuisine and traditions. Best part of all was the sampling in between steps and then getting to dive into the meal at the end. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone with a free morning or afternoon. Very authentic and easy enough for anyone.

We had a great cooking class at Paon Bali while in Ubud. We were picked up on time, the staff is kind, polite and friendly.
Unfortunately, the chicken spent most of the morning in the sun and we are fairly certain that we got food poising from the cooking experience.
We contacted the owner when were back at the hotel (and sick) to inform him of the situation and received apologies for the unfortunate event.
If we didn't get poising, we would have rated this activity a big 5 star but considering this cant go over 3.
Safe option is to go vegetarian

We really enjoyed this cooking class. It was intresting to learn about how the Balinese food is cooked and help prepare it yourself. Everyone was really friendly and answered any questions you had. Very interactive and a good price. Would recommend.

I recently signed up for a cooking class and had a wonderful time. The tours of the local market and rice field were not expected, such a nice experience to see everything first hand. The cooking class was fun and the chef was a delight. The food! We cooked up a banquet and sat in an idellic location to enjoy. A brilliant experience. Back home now, and practicing my skills!

We had THE best time at this cooking class. We were taken to the market in the morning by our lovely driver to meet our ‘spicy’ host who was hilarious! Really good humour and showed us the different ingredients. We then went back to cook about 9 dishes which all tasted wonderful! All the staff were so helpful and smiley and it was one of the highlights of our months of traveling ! My boyfriend completely agrees. We will always remember this fun and learning experience so thank you! I can’t recommend them enough!!

Go without hesitation :) Had a fantastic time there.
We were recommanded this cooking class from our hotel who directly booked it for us. Driver from the cooking class arrived on time to pick us up at our hotel the morning after.
The class activities start with the visit of the local market close by. They explain to you all the different ingredients that will be used later during the class.
At the cooking place, you will learn about how they cultivate the rice. You will also learn how to make your own offerings, make one and take it with you at the end. What is great is that you will learn around 10 different Indonesian meal (how to cook the rice, how to make the sauce, every single step of the recipe) and they will give you a recipe book. You will enjoy an amazing buffet that you cooked yourself.
Extremely clean place, very well organized. Only fresh ingredients here!
A special thanks to Putu who has been an amazing teacher and host :)

Were there many people attending the class?
Did you get to have a go at cooking all the dishes or was the class divided into groups and given separate tasks?
Many thanks!

In our group we had 11 people and the group next to us was about the same. We did separate some tasks like cutting ingredients. Half would stir fry while the other would put the ingredients in the pan. I felt very involved. They had a lot of workers behind the scenes moving the food and dishes while we were working at the next station. We made so many dishes I got a little confused but walked away with a recipe book! Even though it was a large group it was a great success. The group size was no problem at all. I’ve done smaller, private classes, but the bigger one allowed for more food and variety?

How could I join the class again?
Today, I have wasted afternoon with my family. After talking with Canting receptionist, my family and me were waiting on time at the pickup point. Because the car did not come there I call him. He asked me change the place. So I moved the place with my children. I could understand it as the road was in traffic jam under the rain. And then at the changed place I had waiting for 2HOUR! Not any call. I did not want to call him because I always had to call for the arrangement. My family had to leave the place in tired condition. Maybe I could join your best cooking class next time. At this beautiful Ubud in Bali. Jeong
