My daughter went to the dance in Ubud last year and was not impressed. I , my daughter and granddaughters went to the Kecak and fire dance in Batubulan and it was amazing. It appealed to all 3 generations alike. The quality of the voices was ver impressive and the dancing was very good. I have seen this dance a few times and this was by far the best of the lot, well worth the IDR100k ( AU$10)entry.

Its the better than the others Balinese show. And you should go and watch it. If it’s the big show, their dancer more than 100 people and they do their music with their mouth 👄 I love it so much

Ok the fire dance and the Legong Barong dance at the Ubud Palace are totally different, if you have time, sure, check out both, but I prefer the dance at the palace better. First, the location is right next to the street, so you will be hearing cars and mopeds zooming for the entire performance. Second, the show is at 7:30pm which is already dark when we visited in early November. You can't really see the intricate movement of the dancers, but if you're just there to hear the chant and the story telling, sure, give it a go. Lastly and most unfortunately this is the most annoying part - tourists who like constantly take pictures with their flashes on. Imagine you're sitting somewhat in the dark, trying hard to pay attention to the dancers and the men chanting and FLASH FLASH FLASH, the whole time. C'mon, like you're really going to look through the hundreds of pictures you took during that 80+min performance!?!? Stupid. That really tainted the whole experience.

A friend mentioned that this performance qualifies as the best of the best in Ubud. How right she was--it's fantastic! They have bleachers set up outside the temple entrance. Come 20-30 minutes early for a good seat. Take a cab from your hotel as the trek involves one long walk uphill from the hotels along Monkey Forest Road. A large troop of chanting men provide a long rhythmically varied beginning to the program. Then costumed masked dancers enact the Ramayana myth. The amazing finale' involves an elder atop a stick horse. Sparks fly as he walks multiple times through a bed of burning coals. A not-to-be-missed performance.

This performance was amazing! I highly recommend seeing this show. It's held in temple grounds and the proceeds from the show go back into the temple and community. It was not expensive and cost $75,000 which is approx aud $7.50. The chanting by the men is hypnotising and adds a further element to the story which is being acted out through dance around the fire. This is an important element and if you read the story they hand out you will understand why. The story ends with an elder walking through Fire with barefeet and not just once... He continuously does this which is amazing! I highly recommend seeing this show which is also an insight into Balinese culture

Me and my wife went to women Kecak fire dance by coincidence. We enjoyed it very much. We were siting in the front row which was awesone. The show really gives you a feeling that you are in a trance state of mind. Hats off to the women singing the whole time and to the guy walking and sitting on burned coconuts 🔥👍💪

We enjoyed watching this traditional Bali performance of Indian origin with the Indian Ocean and Uluwatu cliff as background. The story and dance is accompanied by 70men singing in trance as background music & storyline. As the storyline unfolds enjoy the magnificent sunset in this most westerly tip of Bali island.
