We are a family with 2 young kids, aged 8 years and 3 years. I had reached out to Greenbike a few weeks before our trip and finalized our booking 3 days before the scheduled tour.
On the day of the tour, we were picked up from our hotel in Nusa Dua at 7:30 am, and we drove to the rice fields in Ubud. The driver arrived on time, and was very polite and courteous.
We had breakfast in a cosy cafe with a beautiful view of the rice fields. Our guide, Darma, was waiting for us at the cafe when we arrived. He was great with the kids and made friends with them immediately. He mentioned to us that the tour will be at our pace, and at any time we can hop into the car which would be following us along the tour.
After breakfast we drove another few minutes to the starting point of the tour. My son was not comfortable with the bike he was given, so they offered to have another guide with a tandem bike with my son in the back. The other guide was also great with my son and very friendly and polite.
During the tour we went through the rice fields, visited a traditional Balinese family home, some temples, and stopped for a Balinese snack in the middle of a forest. The weather was very pleasant and as it is on a higher altitude, it was not that hot.
We started the tour at around 10 am, and it was completed at around 1:45 pm. For the last 15 minutes or so, my 3-year old was a bit tired so I and her drove in the car while my husband and 8-year old continued the tour.
At the end of the tour we came to a restaurant with a beautiful view. We had told Darma that we are vegetarians, and so he ensured to call the restaurant in advance and made arrangements for some vegetarian food (although we had mentioned we would just manage with whatever was available).
After lunch we were dropped off to our hotel in Nusa Dua, at around 5 pm.
Overall, it was beautiful experience riding through the lanes and rice fields of Ubud, I’d definitely recommend to anyone visiting Bali!
