About
Amid lush ravines and picturesque rice fields, the Campuhan Ridge Walk is one of the most popular treks in Ubud. You’ll start off the hike at the meeting point of the Wos Rivers by the historic core of this charming Bali town. Stop along the way to take in the views and recharge with some coffee overlooking the peaceful lily ponds. About three miles there and back, the trail is best enjoyed around sunrise and sunset, when temperatures are milder. After the hike, don’t miss Ubud’s vibrant city center, where you can shop for handicrafts and visit ancient landmarks. – Tripadvisor

    Nice 1 hour walk
A nice, easy walk through the Ubud hillside in which the paths are paved and well maintained. So suitable for all ages. It takes you through the jungle so lots of lush greenery. Another free walk that is nice to do, has more views of the rice fields and slightly shorter is the Sweet Orange Walk which starts near the Lotus Cafe in town.

    Nice walk
Campuhan Ridge Walk is a beautiful and scenic walking trail located in Ubud, Bali. The trail offers stunning views of the lush greenery, rice paddies, and valleys that surround the area. It is my favourite morning activity. The walk is about 2 kilometers long and is a relatively easy hike that is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. Along the way, there are plenty of photo opportunities and places to stop and take in the views. One of the best times to go on the Campuhan Ridge Walk is early in the morning or late in the afternoon, as the weather is cooler and the light is perfect for taking photographs. It is also less crowded during these times, which makes for a more peaceful and enjoyable experience. Overall, the Campuhan Ridge Walk is a must-visit attraction for anyone visiting Ubud. The stunning views and peaceful surroundings make it a perfect escape from the busy city, and it is a great way to immerse oneself in Bali's natural beauty.

    A Nice Walk
Pretty nice walk. The views were not as spectacular as I had hoped, but it made for a pleasant (and free) excursion. There are a number of shops selling paintings towards the end of the walk, and we found the quality of the paintings to be better than in town. We made two purchases.

Beautiful walk with amazing views (but choose a good path if running it)
What an amazing view! I did this walk as a 5km jog, which was amazing. However, I think I should have chosen the other path as the one I took (the shorter of the two paths) was a bit difficult to run along due to the square blocks that make up the path. It looks from the photos that the longer path might have smoother running ground. Such a wonderful experience and gorgeous view. The path I ran took you up a hill and into a little village where you could grab lunch as well if you wanted to. Highly recommend!

    Lovely morning walk
I read a number of reviews as I have bad knees and wanted to make sure I could do this walk. It isn’t a difficult walk but neither is it easy. If you go from the Karsa Kafe end then it’s easy as you won’t have all the uphill gradients, I would have struggled a bit coming the other way. It is all paved so easy to walk on. The rice paddies are only at the start before you get to the entrance of the walk. The views over to the hills are lovely and there is quite a bit of shade. I didn’t find it hot at all and we went at 0800. My watch said we did 2.7 Km’s from drop off point to the Ibah Hotel where you end. It was lovely at the end of the walk with the river and the temple. It took us under an hour and we stopped to take photos along the way.

Immerse yourself in the lushness of Ubud!
Great walk! Definitely go in early morning before it’s too hot as there r lots of areas with no shade. Also, lots of steps! After a while of walking, you will find a sweet village where you can purchase a beverage and shop. I purchased a piece of art from a wonderful Balinese man. He will roll up the art so it’s easy to carry back down the trail. This walk is a MUST when visiting Ubud!

    It’s a hill 😂
If you don’t like walking uphill then give this one a miss. It’s really pretty and a lovely walk to do but you do have to mind your footing as the slabs aren’t evenly placed. I’ll say it was pretty busy in places and wasn’t what I expected from the photographs I’ve seen but seeing all the houses built into the hills is lovely and listening to the river rather than the hum of engines is also a nice change.

    Pleasant early-morning walk
We did the walk at 6:30am which was a good time of day. Not too hot at the start, but it warmed up quickly as the sun rose higher. We left from outside Ibah Hotel, so the walk was uphill most of the way. It finally flattens out when you reach the rice fields. The scenery was pleasant, especially at the start of the walk when the path goes through forest and past the temple. Not spectacular, but if you treat it as a stroll in nature it’s a nice way to start the day. If you have trouble with going up stairs and walking uphill for a few kilometers though, it’s probably best to do the walk in reverse.

Peaceful walk, scenery is a little underwhelming
As usual this was a poorly signposted trail so a little tricky to find the beginning. Once you start it is really a nice surprise how soon the city sounds fade away and you’re fully immersed in nature. We started at 7am and there were already quite a few people who had completed their walks by the time we started. On the one hand it’s much quieter than the rice fields walk which is great and is much more relaxing. On the other, the scenery doesn’t really compare to the rice fields either. After the gate which marks the end of the walk itself, there are some nice cafes, warungs and little art workshops. All in all a good way to start the day in Ubud

    Easy morning walk
View was good. We went on the morning for a breakfast at a local wearing near the exit and walked backwards towards Ubud. Walk was short (~30 mins) and manageable for older folks. The were areas of steeper slopes but in general it is manageable with shoes with good traction.

Nice walk with pleasant views of jungley terrain.

Would recommend going early in the day or towards the evening to stay out of the mid day heat. Would also recommend bringing water and wearing shoes (or at least sandals that are secured on your feet).

Would not recommend brining children that can not do a light hike on their own. Would definitely not recommend trying to push a stroller up this rocky dirt trail (hilarious watching a a family attempt this). Would not recommend flip flops.

A very pleasant walk.

The end is not clearly marked (there is a sign on the Kaza Spa wall denoting the top). This is just as well, as we discovered a gem just 200m past it. The Raditya Cafe is a family run cafe overlooking the rice fields and is a brilliant place to have a drink before turning around

We did this walk early in the morning! I would say the best time because it’s the coolest and the sun coming over the ridge was spectacular. If you keep walking far enough there are some homes with small businesses. And if you keep walking farther there are some open rice fields that are stunning with the sunlight hitting them. There are a lot of Airbnb here to stay in that look gorgeous. After we complete the walk we went to where it started and turned right and walked all the way into town. This was a very manageable walk which was just very slightly uphill on the sidewalk by the road. There is a beautiful walkthrough where the cars go that have vines hanging down. I would highly recommend this walk as it is so peaceful in the morning.

This is a short hike up with a beautiful view of the sunset. It is a nice walk if you want to go out and get some fresh air, but the scenery is a bit boring during daytime. The suset, however, was amazing. You have a full view all around you and to watch the sky change colors like that is just breathtaking.

Strongly recommend a walk up there.

OK place to hike in the centre. Go in the morning or before sunset. If you staying for sunset do bring torch light as the Ridge has no lighting. After sunset there is loads of flying insect which can be irritating. Can get good view of the sunset though.

It's not overly exciting. Just a walk.
It does feel like you're out in the country when really you are in the middle of town. It's a nice thing to do if you're just looking for something to do.
DO NOT go in the middle of the day. Only go in the late afternoon or early morning when it's cooler. We went late afternoon and were still sweating uncontrollably. Not from exertion because it's actually quite easy, just from the heat and humidity.
There's quite a few people on the track but it's not crowded.

There is no entry fee and you walk up quite a lot of steps to get onto the ridge. Once up there the views are great and it’s an easy paved walk which eventually ends up at a road. There are some shops for drinks etc after the first few hundred metres.
But if you want to spend and hour or so walking with great views, it’s a good place to come.

It's a great hike in ubud, if you want to be more in the nature.. I recommend doing this hike when it's clouded or early in the morning, since during the day it won't be any shadows. Also recommend wearing good shoes, because you miiiight step on some dangerous creatures. I also felt the hike was very humid, so wearing a lot of clothes would probably bother you. I would say it's a social, and easy walk.

We went to the starting point of the Campuhan Ridge walk in Ubud and met a local rice farmer named Made Rumawan - +62-81353419992
He proposed to show us his community rice fields. All we can say is WOW! He explained the process of rice growing and how the community supports each other... especially during Covid. Made's English is excellent. The scenes were amazing... best time is golden hour (morning / evening) If you have time, join his family for a meal after the walk. Made is a professional cook too!
Made does not ask for money but a generous donation is of course welcome.

You will need to go early in the morning, or late in the afternoon and regardless of when you go it will be HOT! Bring water, wear a hat and comfy shoes and you will be rewarded with a fabulous view of Ubud from a very different perspective. The views from the ridge make you realise that Ubud is in the middle of the tropical jungle. There are also many precariously perched structures clinging to the edges of the surrounding ridges that will make you marvel at Balinese ingenuity.
