Our bicycle tour with Jegeg Cycling was the definitive highlight of our trip to Ubud. As it is low season, the tour comprised just two of us, so essentially a private tour and Wayan was simply wonderful with sharing his knowledge about local life for Balinese people. In addition to seeing the famous rice paddy fields, we learned about local agricultural practices and farming, including a surprise connection between chickens and orb spiders, weddings, funerals, schooling, dress, and family life. The bike riding itself is very easy being nearly all downhill and went at an easygoing pace to take in all the sites, with quite a few stops. Lots of water provided as well. There is a support car following if there were any issues. The two highlights of the day was the final stop at the waterfall, where you can swim (pack some swimmers and towel and leave in the support vehicle, there is a toilet to change at the site). The waterfall was just stunning and very relaxing, quite a few steps to walk down and back but nothing too hard if you have average mobility. The next highlight was the home cooked lunch provided at the end at Wayan's family home. I had to admit the many references to the food on trip advisor was why I picked this tour, and the food did not disappoint! One of the best meals in Ubud and included all the local specialities,it was so delicious. We both agreed this tour was excellent value at $500,000 IDR each for a day that included so many unique insights and scenery from 8am to 2pm. In addition, you are supporting a family business that seems very much part of their local community and has worked hard to create a fantastic tour service. Thank you Wayan and your family, we had a wonderful time!

Putu, our guide, was a great guy and did an excellent job explaining all sorts of things throughout the day. Although our group of two couples have been to Bali many times, he still provided a lot of new and interesting info. His English is fantastic too.

This tour is great value as we got coffee tasting, breakfast, water, cycling (very easy), waterfall swim, rice field tour and to top it off the home cooked lunch was huge and best meal we've had since arriving. Highly recommend this family run tour.

We had an amazing day with Putu and his family. Putu was friendly, welcoming, funny and engaging and we learnt so much. We are a family of five with three boys between 8 and 12 years old and all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The coffee plantation visit was really interesting with a great range of teas and cocoa for the kids too.
We felt very safe on the leisurely ride through villages and rice paddies and were lucky enough to pass a temple celebration.
There were regular stops along the way explaining Balinese life and especially the stages and process of growing and harvesting rice.
The waterfall swim was a lovely refreshing finish to the ride.
Being welcomed into Putu's family compound and treated to the BEST Indonesian food we have had during nearly a month travelling around was extraordinary.
We are very grateful for this experience and can highly recommend Jegeg Bali Cycling Tours.

I arranged the half day cycling tour at short notice on the day of the trip. They what's apped me back almost immediately, arranged for the pickup and turned up promptly at the time they said. We joined two other families with kids of 11-15years old and our guide Wayan, then went to the Tegalalang rice terraces and visited a coffee plantation before driving to the start of our bike ride, The bikes were basic hard tails with caliper brakes, but they were all in good working order. Because it was showery Wayan gave out rain ponchos. The route ran down the road through some lovely villages with temples and normal life going on around us. Wayan kept good control of the group and stopped regularly to give us a wealth of information. For example, he explained how the Balinese family unit works and how each extended family lives together, their rules, family temples and ceremonies, how the village local council works, how the meeting hall at the center of the village is used... it was a fascinating insight into the unique Balinese culture. At the end of the tour we took a swim at the base of the Taman Sari waterfall then went back to the family compound for a delicious Balinese buffet lunch. Great value and an amazing trip!

We decided to book the bike tour with Jegeg Bali Cycling Tours given the excellent reviews. I must say they did not disappoint! This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Both Putu and Ketut were very friendly and made us feel safe and comfortable throughout the whole trip but also made us feel very welcome. Putu had a great sense of humor and was very knowledgeable, so not only was it a fun trip but we got to learn lots of things too!

They had also prepared an extra bike with a child seat just in case our 7 year old would get too tired. In the end she cycled 90% of the time and when she was tired she switched and Putu was able to take her on his bike in the child seat. The views were breathtaking and it was all pretty much downhill :) We stopped a few times along the way so it was perfect when you are with young children. For example, we stopped at a local school which was great as we could see how the school system works in Bali and the children could meet local children who were very happy to engage with us.

The traditional lunch at the end of the trip at Putu’s family compound was the icing on the cake. They have a beautiful home and the food was so delicious! Our daughters especially loved the satay! We loved every second of this tour and will definitely book again when we are back. We highly recommend!

Highly recommend this tour for getting away from the crowds in Ubud, seeing beautiful scenery and learning lots about Balinese culture and traditions.

Thanks so much to Putu and family for such a fantastic experience. We did the tour with our two young children ages 3 and 5 and the guys (and other guests on the tour) were so welcoming and really accommodating and patient for extra toilet breaks etc.

The kids sat on seats on the back of our bikes and this was the first time we had cycled with them so we were a bit nervous, but the roads were so quiet and all downhill so it was really manageable and the kids loved zooming along. Parents of young children if you are thinking about it just do it!

The tour took in a visit to Tegallalang rice terrace, a coffee plantation (the kids were given a hot chocolate which they loved), we then hopped on our bikes and cycled through stunning small villages and rice terraces, a stop off at a school (and looking at a HUGE spider), and a cool off in a waterfall. Finally we were welcomed into the family home for a delicious meal of traditional Indonesian food which was our favourite meal of the holiday so far.

We have done many tours while travelling in South East Asia and often have felt pressured into buying things along the way etc but the Jegeg tour was completely different and everyone was so genuinely warm and friendly.

We were a family of four with a 15 & 17 y.o. and we highly recommend this day. Amazing value, good mix of culture, sightseeing, fun and incredible food!!!

Our guide Butu was fun, kind and informative and took us to his family’s compound for a delicious authentic Balinese lunch. We got some insights into life in Bali that we have not been shown on other tours.

The bikes won’t be competing in any Redbull downhill mountain-biking events but they had suspension and were well maintained… They were more than sufficient for the cruisey, safe, well supported downhill day out.

The tour really was fantastic value and our family’s best day out in our 16 days around Bali.

We had the most wonderful half day (ended up returning at 3pm though, amazing value for &!) trip to the Tegalalang Rice terraces, coffee plantation, bike ride through villages and rice fields (pretty much all downhill, safe and easy for all including younger kids), waterfall for a swim and finally lunch at the family home. And the lunch!!! By far our best meal for the trip, we loved how authentic and delicious it was, in a genuine home environment. Thank you Wayan, Nyoman and family for your hospitality. Wayan was our guide for the day and a wealth of knowledge, he even had the kids engaged all day. We would absolutely recommend this trip to others!!

The Jegeg Bali Cycling Tour created an amazing day of discovery of Bali. Our local guide Putu was a gem. Not only did he help us discover the sights and beauty of Bali, he was a wealth of information on local culture and history. The day was full of highlights including a trip to a local market, rice paddy, a coffee plantation and viewing daily life on a leisurely ride. And to top it off, we finished our tour with a delicious meal with a Balinese family. All in all, the perfect way to discover Bali with the perfect guide! But wait , there’s more! I guess you’ll have to see for yourself!

This is amazing. Putu and his driver Made pick you up from your accommodation early in the morning and take you on a wonderful adventure. We started with the visit to where they collected and roasted the Lewak coffee beans. We sampled different types of tea and coffee and ate delicious pancakes and honey. At the end of your tasting you have the option of purchasing the teas and coffee. You also could see many plants and fruit trees used for their teas and coffee making. The cycling trip lasts just over an hour approximately about 18 kms. You cycle along the roads through villages, through the rice fields and get to stop at a waterfall. Downhill so not too strenuous for those that don’t like to pedal and just take in the scenery. The day is finished up by having a delicious Balinese lunch at your tour guides compound cooked by the family just amazing. After lunch you are driven back to your accommodation. I can’t speak more highly of this tour. Putu’s English is excellent. He is a great guy and will give you a wonderful tour and a real taste of Bali. This is a must do and amazing value.
