Ubud 10 days, Seminyak 4 - suggestions? (3 Replies)
Hi All, i'm off to Bali for the first time in about 10 days. I have booked 10 days in ubud and 4 in seminyak...I plan on going to the Yoga Barn a fair bit in Ubud and have booked a bike tour of the rice paddies and a silver smithing class....but I'm wondering if during my time in either location you had any suggestions of things worth checking out? Also anything I need to be aware of at the moment in Bali aside from precautions against mozzies? Thanks, Bali newbie

Response fromSnazzyyazzy|
It depends what activities you're into. In Ubud you could try a spa treatment; cooking class; visit the safari. The cycling tour through the rice paddies is a good idea. You can hire a driver for the day and visit another town. Regarding mozzies, my hotel in Ubud lit coils each night on my verandah and also supplied plug in mozzie repellant. Take your own mozzie repellant too. And I've heard that mozzies don't like vitamin B - so start taking your vitamin B tablets.

3 nights Ubud/1st time in Bali (11 Replies)
Very happy about the fact I will be travelling from Canada to Bali in about 3 weeks. I am going solo, attending a retreat at the end of my trip so I am taking 8 nights to rest, do yoga, walk around and check out some shops and a performance..I am at Murni's houses during this time, and I was attracted to the fact there that she has a Warung a few doors away, and an interesting art shop, and a spa - but I want to venture from the front door a bit and check out other places for food and a...More

From what I recall, you are well located, Murni's Warung is in the centre of town. It is kinda in a valley, so your legs will get a workout walking up the hills. Something interesting to do might be to take a cooking class. I have taken the Paon Bali cooking class in Ubud and really enjoyed it. It is a really hands on class and you get to have a yummy lunch at the end of it with your fellow classmates. There are no official 'taxis' in Ubud, so just ask around for prices when you want to...More

when is Peak season in Ubud how busy? (3 Replies)
Hi I was in Ubud in late April and planning my next trip in peak season, someone I met there said peak season is around August - September is this correct I want to go in peak season as I don't mind going out for a drink and meeting people when I was there in April a lot of the bars and restaurants weren't to busy although I still had a good time. I know there are disadvantages to this also as prices go up and places like the Yoga barn will be full is this a good time to go?

joca2 , Don't know if its much but last year i was in Ubud in September and it was busy,The rice fields, The Monkey forrest was busy,The streets looked busy but the restaurants did not look that busy, The one i went to only had 2 other people and us 5, The trip back to Kuta was 2 hours, And it was school holidays, I think when it hits night time it would go quite, Its just all the tourists want to go up there for the tourist thing.
