- Samantha FBallarat, Australia1,201 contributionsA beginner's reviewI came here by recommendation from a friend who always comes here when in Ubud. I decided to give it a try. I have never done something like this before, so you can say I am a beginner. I decided to try Ancient sound healing as this sounded really cool. Firstly, there is a free shuttle bus which picks you up from across the road of Ubud Palace. The bus is purple with Pyramids of Chi on it. Can't miss it. Or If you have a scooter, there is parking there. Apparently you can get a free juice before your session, but I didn't know where to get this. The cafe sells nutritious meals which you can before or after your session. So for beginners like me or first time visitors... on arrival, you check in at reception and receive your eye mask made from Obsidian Lava Sand from the sacred Mt Batur - you get to keep this which was really cool. The staff are really friendly. Then at your allocated time, they will round everyone up for the session at the cafe and then all walk down to the pyramid together. You then have to leave your shoes outside and put your bags to the left inside the temple. You are allowed to take pictures in the pyramids. I didn't care where I layed, but most of the spots near and at the back of the gongs went pretty quick. Also make sure you grab a blanket before sitting down as these are taken pretty quick. Then there is about a 15 minute talk about the history of the pyramids and about ancient sound healing. Then after lieing down, it's a 30 minute sound healing session. A very relaxing time and was nice and warm. Then after the session, you are allowed to stay for a little longer to heal. Then you can head back or have some lunch/dinner in the cafe. I didn't feel anything in this session, but If I return to Ubud I would like to come again and try a different session.Visited March 2020Written March 8, 2020
- Angela MEdinburgh, United Kingdom8 contributionsbeautiful energy and amazing cafeMy friends and I spent quite a lot of time here during our week in Ubud. The sessions we went to in the pyramids were fantastic, and I definitely had a shift in energy. The cafe has all healthy food with a great range of options, and we ate here a few times during the week. The staff were lovely, and I will definitely be back.Thank you so much for your kind words and for visiting us throughout your stay in Ubud! So many incredible experiences to be enjoyed here and we often have guests changing their travel plans to stay longer in Ubud so they can attend more pyramid sessions. We hope your onward travels were just as enjoyable and look forward to hosting you again someday!Written February 4, 2020This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited January 2020Written February 3, 2020
- natasha bPerth, Australia64 contributionsSensory sensationI had a tarot reading with Talis first who was charming and took me on a journey of my present and future, everything she said made sense. I then had lunch in the vegan cafe - very yummy food, I perused the beautiful gift shop and purchased some lovely items then at 1pm made my way to the moon pyramid for the sound and light healing session. I've done sound healing before but this was a sensory experience that went beyond anything I've done in this space before. It was quite intense and amazing for me. They employ an expert space holder and sensory guide who checked in on me afterward. So glad I did this.Visited February 2023Written February 18, 2023

If you really want to experience sound meditation look elsewhere! As most of places in Bali care about money and to fit as many people as possible without considering their experience “Pyramids of chi” wasn’t an exception. In our group to go in was many people where your Neibour touches you basically (yes, it’s that closed!). I didn’t feel comfortable because it’s not my comfort zone to have unknown people to me laying done that closed! Another problem you are going to face is snoring! Of cause certain % of that many people will be snorting or coughing. The guide makes announcement to raise ur hand if ur Neibour is snoring and yes they do come and tap on shoulder those who snores but it already disturbs ur experience dealing with all this. My Neibour wasn’t snoring but I could hear heavy breathing from left and right (u obviously will because people are too closed). I would call this experience “patience training meditation” :-))))) or “snoring bowls” :-) If ur eager to experience something like that still, go to Yoga Barn. They have exactly the same organization though with putting too many people in but at least it’s twice cheaper. Abroad for this kind of sound meditations groups are limited and it’s controlled that nobody comes sick with flu or snores disturbing others. In bali nobody bothers.Visited September 2023Traveled with friendsWritten September 3, 2023
- GuidedUpfront12 contributionsWarning! Check this before you bookBe careful, the experience can be a bit disingenuous. The property is under construction and not all sound healing sessions are held in the original pyramids. I just walked out of a session today and we were disappointed. Instead of being on the original pyramid which is built with water around it which optimises the whole experience, we were in a different pyramid on land where you can hear lots of outside noises of scooters, roosters, construction, and the layout is such that there is a lot of people who walk around near your head during the experience. It defeats the purpose of the experience. We felt it was misleading as we know it’s a big difference in experience when you go to the original pyramid, yet they still charged us full price. If we knew in advance then we wouldn’t have gone. This came across as money-grabbing. The sounds themselves are good, if you can ensure your booking is in the original structures. Unfortunately when people are not upfront about this it doesn’t make me want to recommend the place anymore.Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 4, 2023

It started with a guided meditation and then into the journey, it was such a powerful energy from the gongs that vibrated through my whole body sending me into a deeply relaxed state. There were many other instruments used throughout the journey and I left feeling super chilled. The food at the restaurant is great and and the gardens surrounding the pyramids are beautiful and very peaceful to sit and meditate afterwards. I had an amazing time there and will definitely return for another session or to one of their special evening events.Visited August 2020Traveled soloWritten August 8, 2020
- tripdude541Portland, Oregon180 contributionsHype Over SubstanceI had heard quite a bit about this experience, and have done similar but way better ones in different countries. Sadly, this one was quite disappointing. I would consider it a case of hype over substance. I paid $67 US for the 90 minute Beyond Sound Experience. I enjoyed the facilitator, but the experience pretty much is lay down on a water bed, close your eyes, and they will turn off the flashing lights and canned sounds. I was not inspired, moved, or transported anywhere I want to return. The schtick is good for tourists and there seemed to be a lot of self-absorbed yoga types there that probably thought the experience was revelatory. There is a nice dining spot to sit and wait. The location is in the middle of nowhere and while they offer a free shuttle from a central pick up point in Ubud, for the price I paid, they should’ve sent a carriage and a camel. If you want an authentic experience, this probably isn’t for you. If you want to show everyone how good you look in your Lululemon, this is probably the perfect experience for you. Again, hype over substance.Visited February 2023Traveled soloWritten February 24, 2023

This experience felt like a complete tourist trap. I certainly didn't anticipate paying £15 for what essentially amounted to a 1.5-hour nap during the ancient sound healing session. Instead of relaxation, I left feeling annoyed and unsatisfied. The excessive amount of irrelevant talk before and during the sound healing made it challenging to fully immerse oneself in the experience. Additionally, the shuttle service, while convenient, appeared to have strategically staggered timings to encourage visitors to spend more time and money there. On a positive note, the food served was enjoyable, but overall, this experience left me with a sense of disappointment and skepticism about its authenticity.

This place is felt a bit like an insult.
I’ll just speak about the experience itself. We did a sound bath that was the most remote thing to a sound bath I ever experienced.
This “sound bath” was an incredibly chaotic and disruptive jam session with no rhythm or musicality to it.
They were using amplifiers, when the actual space should technically be enough of an amplifier. Instead of focusing on singular powerful frequencies and tones coming from sound Bowls or gongs for instance, and building it up in a powerful way, it felt like a really strange and chaotic composition - a mish mash of a million random Instruments and really frantic energy.
They kept moving around and their footsteps felt really disruptive.
I have been to some Incredible sound baths but this one needs allot of work...
If they cared they would try to hone in and focus this experience on actually transformative work. They have allot to learn from the people that do sound baths at the integratron in the California.
This might be a cute experience for people that never really have done a sound bath or are from a world of spirituality.

Wow, what can we say, it sounds like you had a very odd experience indeed!
Typically we enjoy 5-star reviews for our Ancient Sound Healing sessions. Perhaps the energy was intensely high this day, possibly even within yourself.
Most certainly we do not use any amplification. The only time a microphone is used is during the introduction while speaking, or for certain facilitators while singing. We never amplify any instruments, such is the amazing acoustics within the pyramids.
We have helped over 35,000 visitors through sound healing in 2019 alone. Our sound healing practitioners are all very experienced and put their heart and soul into each and every session. Our guests experience in sound healing or spirituality is irrelevant. We have many first timers and gurus from around the world and have enjoyed the most incredible feedback across the board. We treat everybody the same.
I hope one day you can return and have a more positive experience.
- Good vibrations from the Pyramids of Chi team

Went to a new moon ceremony led by Joseph not a native Indian white owl who spent more time talking about himself and his “nation “ in America than about the moon and never mentioned Bali or it’s culture once !! the whole experience was torture a wholly western commercial venture that left me feeling far from relaxed bitten by mosquitoes throwing corn in a fire a headache from the mish mash jangling sounds where if you fell asleep and snored you were told you would be removed !! Far better off going to a temple for water purification this place is full of Bali bores ! … shame really credit to the Balinese staff who serve the food and drinks. .. torture in a nutshell spiritual narcissism theme park .. ive also noted replies to comments of an aggressive nature says it all ..far from healing

What’s the best was to get to the pyramids from central Ubud...is it too far to walk? What would a metered taxi cost one way?

Many people choose to walk here along the beautiful rice Field walk from the town centre, see the map on outr site for directions. Should take around 30 - 45 minutes depending on your pace and the desire to stop and look at the amazing views or visit one of the delightful artists stalls. There are no metered taxis in Ubud, however from the palace region do not pay any more that Rp70,000, they all know that is a good fare.
