11 Day Be Woman Durga Training
Feb 2020 • Solo
Under the Banyan Tree is a magical 'corner' of Bali! I feel the grace there as soon as I walk down the steps past the large pohon beringin and enter the uniquely designed open-air shala that blends into the forested surroundings. This 11-day Devi training I joined was held here. I learned about womanhood in all its aspects through a framework of movement, sharing circles, and beautiful ceremonies and was surprised and delighted me in every way. I'm still reaping the benefits of this deep work on devotion, reconfiguring ideas of femininity, creativity, security, love, and more. I feel the power of the feminine and connection with others in an expanded way. I'm thrilled to be part of the Be Woman Project, and the world needs these new ways of thinking!

Under the Banyan tree is a special place to be centered around during your stay in Bali. It's conducive to deep spiritual growth, being supported by the energy of the neighboring Balinese temple and the grace of the collective practice of the sanggha's residents. Many sweet accommodations and restaurants are nearby (like a favorite, Cafe Vespa), and just a short ride away are the numerous cafes and restaurants of Penestanan, Sanggingan, and Central Ubud.

A magical place to have Yoga training.

I attended a Devi training with Be Woman Project and my experience surpassed my expectations in every way: the course content; the teachers; the studio. It is so centrally located with accommodation nearby, yet it feel secluded as the property is quite large and private. I hope to return to this little paradise as it is very conducive to deep spiritual growth. Thank you for providing such sacred space to heal and connect with other women.

Bike tour

The bike tour was incredible. The staff were friendly and attentive; we were able to make stops to see daily Balinese life, schools, rice paddies... I loved every moment of the tour and strongly recommend taking tours with this company.

I went to under the banyan tree for the first time for my yoga teacher training which was for me one of the most beautiful and powerful experience of my life. Classes are just amazing connected to physical emotional and spiritual aspect. The atmosphere and teaching are based on truth, sharing and love. You can feel a real heart connection.i felt really nurished like never before in a yoga class.
And there is nothing about comparaison and judgment.... for me it s the most real and true yoga places in Ubud. Classes are so unic. A beautiful community of Real People :-) Sama yoga has to be experienced. It cant be explained. Thank you so much all of you for your care and authenticity .

In my opinion, definitely the best yogashala in Ubud. Such a beautiful spot, close to the ricefields, surrounded by trees and flowers. Yoga teachers with long experience and wonderful hearts!

Truely wonderful experience
Mar 2017 • Friends
First trip to Bali and couldn't of asked for a better experience and this is mainly down to finding the beautiful souls at Sama Yoga Shala -Under the Banyantree. The yoga with both Sky and Ingela is just amazing.
The waterfalls trek through the jungle guided by Bruce and Ingela was awesome. Totally off the beaten track-be prepared to get dirty and wet- long trousers, swim wear and shoes with grip essential- Bruce is so knowledgeable about Balis flora & fauna customs & traditions. The track was finished off with a fabulous vegan lunch prepared by Ingela.
An absolutely amazing experience with truly beautiful people. Definitly on my to do again list! 😌

Bike ride through Bali countryside & a 7 waterfalls hike tour
Nov 2016 • Friends
Cycling is a great outdoor activity to see Bali countryside and other local places of interest. We have visited a small junior school and even were invited to see traditional balinese house styles of some local family. There we observed their living style and various traditions first hand.
Hiking in a cooler forest and then swimming in pools was great and relaxing too. Take notice of various wild flora like cacti or christmas stars that are more common to europeans as house plants. If you are lucky you see great seal of birds or animals, even monkeys or tree frogs. Be prepeared for disturbed cicada noises.
Sun screen and a swimming suit is a must =) Enjoy the tour as much as I did.
