We were in Bali for a week and this was a great way to spend some of our limited time there. The class was really informative and entertaining, the food was delicious, and it was nice getting to experience a local market and some traditional Balinese cooking techniques.

Actually went in April 2019 but misplaced the tour guide's business card in a move and just found it, so leaving a review now.

The best cooking class I've ever done
Aug 2019
We were picked up from our hotel and firstly taken to a local market, where we learnt about local life in Bali. We were then taken to the most beautiful house and taught about how coconut oil is made and we made some Hindu blessings, which you'll notice regularly walking around Bali.

We used an outside kitchen to cook our meals and it was really the best cooking class I've ever done. Unlike the others I've done every single person had a job, there was no point where you were standing around whilst one person did the job. They rotated regularly so you got to try everything, it really couldn't have been any better executed.

We paid 350k rp for the class, less than £20 each and for me I thought that was amazing value for an experience that lasted us about 4.5 hours and ended with a delicious meal.

Great local experience in Ubud
Mar 2020 • Couples
We absolutely enjoyed our morning: first we went to a small hidden local market, where we learned a lot about different ingredients, then we visited some rice fields where we had explanation on how rice grows and gets cultivated, then we moved to the family’s house where we learned to make our own Balinese Hindu offerings and also got a demonstration of how coconut milk gets made. Then the cooking started, which was really great. The family was very well-organized and efficient, we had help and clear assistance with every step. Each participant had a chance to contribute to every step of the cooking. The food was really amazing, and there were a lot of positive emotions. Really recommended !!!

Highly recommend this cooking class! The hosts were so kind and funny. We learnt a lot about Balinese culture as well as traditional recipes, very well rounded and inclusive for the whole group.

A must do experience
Mar 2020 • Couples
A great culture and cooking experience from brilliant host and chef Waian.

As it is currently off season, myself and my partner were lucky enough to have the afternoon session all to ourselves.

We were picked up from our hotel and taken first to the rice fields where we were taught about the process of producing rice.

We then went to Waians house where we were taught a little more about Balinese culture before heading through to the kitchen to prepare and cook our dinner- which was to die for!

Can not recommend Waian and his cooking experience enough, a must do if you’re visiting Ubud.

Awesome cooking experience!
Mar 2020 • Couples
We had a small class of 5. The market experience was a great experience in seeing all the ingredients for cooking. Once we got back to the kitchen, everyone got very basic tasks to help build the recipes. We worked in teams of 2 to cook all the items. The feast was amazing and we couldn't finish it all as a team.

Periuk Bali picks you up and drops you off at your hotel, so transportation isn't an issue either.

We had an amazing experience with this cooking class this morning. After going to the local market and visiting a rice field, we were taken to the class to cook the most delicious Indonesian meal we’ve ever had! The ingredients and cooking techniques were shown to us in a fun and interesting way, and we also got to learn about Balinese culture. We felt very welcomed and enjoyed out first ever cooking class experience!

An unmissable Bali experience...
Mar 2020 • Solo
I had the pleasure of attending the fantastic Periuk Bali Cooking Class today. The family home setting lies on the Petanu River bank with the soothing sound of flowing waters enhancing the overall experience. The 5 hour course teaches Balinese signature dishes through hands-on practical lessons. From making traditional Balinese spice pastes used as a base for many of the dishes - to chopping, steaming, grilling and frying the various menu items. Not forgetting the reward of enjoying the foods prepared at the end of the session.

A really lovely afternoon with the amazing Periuk family/team. A great experience from the hotel pick up (on-time) through to the drop off after the session. An unmissable Bali experience. I’d highly recommend the Periuk Bali Cooking Class to anyone travelling to Bali.
