- Romina VMount Isa, Australia1 contributionMy partner and I had the pleasure to realize this experience. They give a quality service as they are super organized, while you prepare something they are already preparing the following. We booked the same day in the morning for the afternoon tour, however in some places we were told that they had no place else and this was clearly not true, so if they seek to do it at short notice we recommend trying to contact them directly or ask who sells the activities to call them by phone to check availability. We found it a very interesting activity and enjoyed learning more about traditions, cuisine, architecture and cultures. We recommend going with space in your stomach to enjoy all the exquisite dishes you can prepare!Visited October 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 11, 2024
- Wendy HCurrumbin, Australia13 contributionsWe were met by Wayan at our accommodation promptly and went to a local market to see the produce available. He explained all about the different gingers etc and uses of other unfamiliar ingredients. Then a trip to a rice paddy to explain all about the rice production and also about how to make coconut milk and coconut oil. Very interesting. We then went to his lovely rural home with a wonderful kitchen area in which we were presented with a lesson in how to make an offering. A really lovely touch! Then the trays and trays of ingredients appeared.....a little overwhelming to see the quantity... but they were of lovely quality and all was explained to us with regard to what dishes we were going to be preparing. After much chopping, pounding and grinding we began to cook the various dishes....aided by the girls who helped us, tidied up after us and presented us with the measured ingredients to make each dish. The hygiene was impeccable....hand washing readily used, tasting spoons and aprons provided. The cooking was such fun....we all had a wonderful experience and the whole session was conducted professionally and with great humour. When all done we sat and had a banquet! All the dishes were beautifully spiced and a vegetarian option was always available and explained on each occasion. We were presented with a takeaway box in which to take away any remaining food (only a little !) together with the recipe booklet which I shall certainly try at home in UK. This was certainly the best cooking class I have ever been to from 5 or 6 I have done before. It was fun, very informative, good value and an absolute treat! We would highly recommend as a half day activity here. We were then all returned to our accommodation and a happy time was had by us all! EXCELLENT ALL ROUND!Visited January 2025Traveled as a coupleWritten January 19, 2025
- Thomas B6 contributionsGreat cooking classes, very good organization, visit the local market, go to the rice fields with explanations, make offerings, and start cooking classes. Explanation of all the ingredients, spices, oils... Really delighted with our morning cooking. We ended in style by tasting our dishes, a delight!!! Thank you!!!Visited November 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten November 24, 2024
- Maximilian F8 contributions⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Balinese Cooking Class was an absolute highlight of our trip! The family that runs the course is incredibly warm and teaches the recipes with a lot of passion and patience. The atmosphere was relaxed and authentic, and you immediately feel part of the family. The dishes were fantastic – fresh, delicious and easy to recook. We particularly liked the fact that the class is suitable for large and small groups, so that everyone is looked after individually. Everything was explained very clearly, even for absolute beginners. The pickup service was super convenient and made everything even more stress-free. A clear recommendation for anyone who wants to experience Balinese cuisine in an authentic way!Visited January 2025Traveled as a coupleWritten January 5, 2025
- Táňa N4 contributionsAmazing experience, definitely recommend it if you will be in Ubud. A morning walk through the local market where we even tried some local rice cakes, then arrived at the family's home where we were greeted with a welcome drink (absolutely delicious yum!) and welcomed as if we were part of the family. We were able to learn how to make the local offerings and then cooked 11 dishes, which we were then able to enjoy them all. The family creates the courses with so much kindness and open hearts, creating an amazing and memorable atmosphere. All this in a beautiful setting right next to the Balinese jungle. Thank you all again! <3Visited December 2024Traveled with friendsWritten December 15, 2024
- Sarah L7 contributionsWe had an exceptional experience here. Wayan picked us up at our accommodation in Ubud and took us along to explore the morning market, guiding us through the different types of ginger, bananas and limes all local and unique to Indonesia, and then to his home where the cooking class is held. Given we went during the low season, it ended up being a private cooking class for us! The hands on cooking class experience was great! It was as expected for an established cooking class, well prepared. We cooked a variety of dishes and ate them for lunch. Would highly recommend choosing PeriukVisited March 2025Traveled as a coupleWritten March 6, 2025
- Leila6 contributionsI booked a morning session where we visited the local market and ricefield and made an offering basket. It was a very informative and hands-on session run by I Vana where we learnt the steps to create a multi course Nasi Campur meal with a starter and dessert. She was a great and patient teacher to us. It was so fulfilling to create such a delicious and flavourful meal from scratch and I was very appreciative of how my vegan diet was accommodated. This cooking class was definitely a highlight from my trip!Visited September 2024Traveled soloWritten October 2, 2024
- Erica CTaipei, Taiwan6 contributionsWhat an incredible journey! The warmth and humor of the locals were truly remarkable, making my interactions unforgettable. Exploring the market and rice fields provided insightful perspectives, enriched further by their detailed explanations. Crafting Balinese offerings surpassed all expectations, leaving a lasting impression. And let's not forget the exquisite food, a delightful blend of flavor and artistry. Gratitude abounds for such an enriching experience. Thank you !Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten May 31, 2024
- Kristo W1 contributionPak Wayan and his family are extremely kind, honest, and show amazing hospitality. We came as a group of recent college grads who have no experience with cooking other than watching our mothers cook at home and the lessons were easy and fun. Pak Wayan does the market tour and shows you the rice field while his niece runs the cooking lessons once you arrive at his house. The niece Mbak Made loves to banter (“no mess no cooking”!) and is a lovely lady to be around. Pak Wayan even drove us to and from our hotel. They are cash only- but we forgot to bring enough cash when the class finished. But they are so kind as to drop us at our hotel and let us get the cash then. Very honest people. Many of the Bali cooking classes basically have 5 stars, as Indonesians are such friendly people with good hospitality. So if it’s hard to choose one, just trust me and go with Periuk Bali.Visited June 2024Traveled with friendsWritten June 24, 2024
- Edward S11 contributionsHello Mr. Wayan we loved your cooking class! We got to see the market where they buy food and what ingredients we use. Very happy with the experience! We even made some new friends with our fellow cook-mates 😁 Thank you to your family for providing such a wonderful experience and for giving us the recipes for the food we cooked afterwards. Thank you for having us! Hope to see you again soon!Visited December 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten December 17, 2024

Highly recommend this cooking class because it’s not just cooking. It’s a complete cultural experience as well as a hands-on class, working together to cook 11 dishes. They even tailor the menu to accommodate dietary requirements - including vegan. Wayan and his family were so hospitable, welcoming us into their home after a trip to the market and the rice fields to learn about the ingredients. The family were incredibly professional - real teamwork to support us making the food. We then happily tucked into the dishes we had made. Delicious!
Well worth the price.

An immersive and rewarding experience! From discovering local products to preparing iconic Balinese dishes, every moment of this cooking course is a dive into Balinese culture. After a tour of the garden to explore the basic ingredients, we learned how to make coconut milk , coconut oil and grated coconut. We also made a traditional offering before moving on to the kitchen: authentic sauces like bumbu bali, typical dishes and a delicious dessert. I also learned the art of cooking white rice! (I now understand why my rice is so bad!) A memorable tasting to conclude this 5-star experience! To do absolutely in Ubud because the welcome we receive is exceptional!

We had a great time at periuk cooking class. First we were picked up at our hotel on time and we were safely brought to a rice field where wayan told us everything about rice and the harvesting process. Afterwards we were warmly welcomed by the family and we prepared 11 courses. Vegetarian was no problem. We learned a lot and they also gave us all the recipes, so that we can amke it again at home. The food was fantastic! It was a wonderful experience and the whole family was fantastic, friendly and welcoming. We definitely recommend this cooking class to everyone!

Cooking class was fabulous. Wayan picked us up from our hotel on time. Gave us lots of information about Balinese culture. We stopped at a local market and he showed us different foods and told us about the offerings. We then went to a rice field and he explained about the importance of rice in everyday life of Balinese families. We then were kindly welcomed to his home where we were instructed and made a sumptuous 8 course meal. It was personal, informative, fun and delicious. Would highly recommend.

Very positive experience! The tour of the market and rice field before the cooking class was informative but not too long. Before starting we also tried to prepare the typical floral offerings that are seen everywhere in Ubud homes. The menu was very extensive and tasty and they handled our request to prepare vegetarian dishes very well.

This cooking class was our first activity in Bali and I couldn’t choose a better first step than learning all the ingredients, cooking Balinese style and interacting with these lovely local people. We booked through WhatsApp and they picked us up from a very close point to our hotel. We headed to the local market close to the cooking class and learned a lot about local ingredients. When we arrived at the beautiful family house of Wayan, we had the opportunity to see their lifestyle and how they keep and process the keystones of Balinese cuisine, rice and coconut. Ah! The house was gorgeous with a serene backyard. And open kitchen was by that garden. We learned how to prepare an offering and got a glimpse of the background of that culture. All the cooking process was very well-organized. We actually prepared everything and learned a lot, it was very nice to be so active in the kitchen and not watching them how they prepare. As all the ingredients were so fresh and they taught us so well, everything we cooked was so delicious, more delicious than anything we ate in any restaurant in Bali! Chef Wayan and lady Chef Made (his Nephew) were very social, friendly, kind and generous people full of joy and knowledge. All the people working there was awesome people as well, working like bees. From beginning to the very end, it was so obvious that you are in the right place for a cooking class activity. Thank you every member of the Periuk family!

This was a really wonderful experience. Not only was the food delicious and plentiful but Wayan and his family were so kind and generous with their time explaining their culture and traditions within their community. The morning tour includes complimentary pick up from your accommodation and a trip to a local market where you were able to learn about and sample local ingredients. A visit to the rice plantation was then followed by a tour of Wayan’s family home. His kitchen was beautifully organised and food prep was assisted by his family members. They are very kind in offering to substitute meats for vegetarian or vegan ingredients if required. All eleven courses were delicious and eaten banquet style in their lovely dining area overlooking the jungle and a copy of the recipes and transfer back to accommodation was all provided. Amazing value and such kind and generous hosts. Loved every minute. Thank you Wayan and family.

We both really enjoyed the whole experience. We did the morning session so got to go through the markets to look at the produce and spices, went to a rice field where Wayan explained all of the processes from planting to harvesting. His niece was also super friendly and helpful in the kitchen when we were cooking. Overall we loved our experience from start to finish and highly recommend this class if you want to try a cooking class whilst in Ubud.

Unmissable experience in Ubud! Everything organized to perfection from the tour to the local Point of Sale for the choice of ingredients, to the guided cooking class with professionalism and sympathy. The food cooked great, between dishes and sauces typical of Bali! Absolutely recommended

This is an amazing cooking course, highly recommend them! There is great communication throughout and the team make sure they're aware if you have any onward travel that they need to be aware of. The class itself is very informative and questions are encouraged throughout, you get a chance to cook everything and contribute equally so even with a full class you don't miss anything. I would also note that they are very cautious and professional around dietary concerns and preferences, putting on different dishes and always sure to keep separation- really very professional. The food itself is delicious and a good variety on the menu. Overall a 5 star experience.

I think so. The organiser is very friendly and this is a family run business so I am pretty sure they will be able to accommodate the two children. All cooking is supervised so I would not see any problems.
