This cooking class was such an amazing experience not only learning about food but also Balinese culture! Everyone was so beautifully giving and friendly and the ingredients looked delicious and tasted even better.
One of the highlights of my time in Bali and I have made about a million notes to take home with me. Also - you get to eat such a great meal at the end with so many components - there is no reason not to do this!

‘A full immersion into the Balinese Culture"
I Wayan picked me up at my villa at 7:30AM i attended 2 times during my visit in Bali he was so accommodating with regards to our dietary restrictions and food allergies. We then picked up other guest and went straight to Ubud market to buy ingredients and also it was an educational tour I wayan introduced us balinese spices. We stopped at the rice fields, took some photos and learnt about how they produce it all.
At the house we were greeted with a refreshing lemongrass iced tea, it was well needed.
He gives us insights about their family compound and we learnt the Balinese culture from new born ceremony to dead ceremony and some or Balinese ceremonies like Nyepi etc. We then proceeded to the kitchen but on our way he gaves us a quick tour to the property which is very clean and green oh and they also grow their own spices, name it from Kafir Lime, sujji, peppercorns, ginger all of types, cumin they have all these and more in his yard. His wife was making coconut oil the smell was divine! Before we proceed with the actual cooking I Wayan teach us how to make Canang Sari what it consist and how to arrange offering properly.

We used a traditional balinese mortar and pestle made of volcanic stone I so wanna buy them and bring home if they’re not just heavy because I cannot find something like that in the Philippines the chopping board is made of tamarind wood polished with turmeric to reveal its golden color, we then proceed to cooking the best part is they use the Periuk its a traditional steamer to cook their rice and no rice cooker! We cooked Bumbu Bali. Complete from fried sambal to Sambal matah (this one is my favorite because of the torch ginger which i cannot find in my county ) cooked our Sate lilit with coconut coal. Honestly a very unique experience and totally tasty!

Finally we all sat down to enjoy our food and chat about the morning, we finished just exactly at luch time around 11:30. An unbelievable experience from start to finish. Everyone involved was friendly, knowledgeable and were people people.

I would recommend to everyone and anyone.

I am a terrible cook, but I thoroughly enjoyed this cooking class. The cooking class delivered on everything that it advertised on its website. Wayan was a real gentleman, and he thoroughly explained and answered questions whether it was at the market or his home. The chef was patient, kind and took her time in ensuring that I understood what I was doing. She was funny and loved to laugh. I felt so at ease with her. The kitchen was very clean, and it was obvious that hygiene was top priority. The young assistant was very organised. It was great to prepare, cook and eat the delicious food. I highly recommend this cooking class.

It’s a great experience to learn the culture in Bali! You can not only learn and do the traditional cooking, but also learning the structural building design of a local home, seeing the plant of the ingredients (banana tree, ginger, turmeric, peppers, etc.), knowing how to make coconut milk & coconut oil. What a bonus is - to make the offerings and understand what it is.

All in all, it’s a great, interactive and knowledgeable experience, definitely recommended for people who don’t mind get your hands dirty.

Fantastic experience. All of the dishes were amazing and we got to take home a recipe book so we could replicate them at home. Everything was delicious and the hosts are so welcoming.

The cooking was done at their home, and they make you feel like part of the family.

They’re very flexible with dietary requirements too.

I will be recommending this experience to my family and friends!

Did the morning cooking class, because I wanted to go to the markt as well. Rayan, the owner and guide of the class, is very nice and told us also so much about the Balinese Livestyle, which was very interesting! We cooked the meals really by ourselves and he made sure that all intolerances were taken into account. Overall a great experience and would definitely do it again <3

This was a great and very authentic experience! After visiting a local market we cooked 11 delicious dishes made out of local, healthy and colorful products. On the way back we even stopped at the rice fields and got some very interesting information about the rice cultivation. Additonally we learnt how to make traditional offerings. The family is a great team working together, having fun, responding to all different kind of questions and being so friendly and funny! An experience you definitely mustn’t miss on!

Loved this! The class takes place in the host's beautiful traditional home. We had a visit to the local market to learn about the ingredients. We had a delicious welcome drink and then made offerings. After we chopped and stirred and whipped up a delicious meal with the help of their well- oiled crew! It was a great experience- highly recommmend!

One of the best experiences we had in Bali! The teachers were amazing, knowledgable and with a lot of humor :) We learned how to cook multiple traditional balinese dishes and a dessert ! They also spoke to us a lot about the balinese culture and welcomed us to their home.
At the end they gave us all the recipes printed to try and make at home. A must when you visit the Ubud area !

A super experience, the family is very professional and friendly.
After I was picked up by the shuttle, we went to a small vegetable market where we talked about the local fruit and vegetables. We stopped by a ricefild and learned about the harvest ecc.
The cooking class was in the family garden and it had a beautiful view.
We where also explained how the Balinese people live and the different type of houses they have.
After we learned what herbs, vegetables and chicken we would prepare. We chopped, cooked, fried, steamed and wrapped our delicious lunch.
We made some very nice tasting food.
I can really recommend this cooking experience and I am vegan and it was no problem to join the vegetarian menu ( you can just not eat the small dessert pancake that was the only thing with an egg inside)
