We did a 7 day Dive Safari with Underwater Tribe in Amed last week. I cannot recommend them highly enough. We are both over 70 and still enjoy diving. This is our second Safari with them and the service provided was first class. The booking arrangements with Miho were brilliant. Communication was clear and unambiguous, even after me having to reschedule things from our originally planned trip last November. The Crew picked us up at our Kuta Hotel on time and we headed for Amed in air conditioned comfort of a small bus.
14 dives over 7 days. Every day our gear was washed and dried, they would not let us don or doff our BCD or fins out of the water. Even on the boat dives. They checked the Nitrox mix on every tank, and as we swam back to shore, there in the shallows was Komang, our driver, waiting to assist us out. When we got back to the waiting area at the dive site Komang had drinks, food and dry towels waiting for us.
The crew took great care with our gear, including my camera equipment. Our dive guide, Parman, found extraordinary creatures for me to photograph and kept us safe by watching currents and depths throughout each dive. A very professional outfit.

My husband and I have just finished our 3rd dive safari with Underwater Tribe and have had another amazing experience! The support we've been given has been exemplary and we've enjoyed a personalised diving trip traversing beautiful dive sites across the island where we've been privileged to have multiple up close encounters with a diversity of majestic marine environments and creatures.
Highlights of this latest trip included a surprising encounter with a juvenile whale shark and watching 2 male cuttlefish vying for the attention of a female in Menjangan; observing 2 huge octopus competing for a moray eel one had caught in Amed, and being enthralled by swirling Manta Rays at Nusa Penida. So much more but you get the idea!
On each of our trips with The Tribe we've had our special needs beautifully accommodated by the professional team of dive guides, drivers and support staff. As mature divers (mid 60s), one us with a disability, this level of support has been critical to a safe and enjoyable experience.

I've had the pleasure of diving with Mike Veitch, one of the owners of the UnderWater Tribe several times in Indonesia over the years and had the opportunity to travel to the Raja Ampat (Three Kings) region of Indonesia with Mike and Luca last year for a 7- day liveaboard trip on the Mermaid II. Prior to the trip, Mike, Luca and Miho competently and quickly handled our arrangements for the trip via email (as we are located in the USA) and once we landed in Sorong, we were met at the airport by staff members who helped us gather our luggage and travel to the hotel. While I have had the privilege of diving in other areas of Indonesia over the years, I have always wanted to travel to the Raja Ampat region, particularly to photograph the wobbegong shark and hopefully catch the manta rays. During the course of our liveaboard, even though the trip was not advertised as an official "photo" trip, Mike and Luca were extremely generous with their underwater photography knowledge and offered at least one lecture/discussion each day pertaining to particular UW Photography topics. They also were very helpful whenever we had questions topside about equipment, strobe positioning and placement or lens selection and also were willing to assist underwater to ensure proper strobe placement and also helped with composition of subject matter. Besides being phenomenal photographers, both Mike and Luca are really engaging and fun guys and ensure that their guests have a fantastic time during the group trips. I cannot recommend the Underwater Tribe highly enough and know that when we travel to Indonesia in the future, we will reach out to Mike, Luca and Miho to have them help us plan another fantastic trip to Indonesia!

It started with an enquiry and ended up a trip of a lifetime. We sent the guys some dates and a brief overview of what we were after and left the itinerary up to them. We booked the flights and set off on our adventure. A safari staying at 3 hotels in 3 locations starting in the NW and ending up in the SE in Sanur. Everything from arrival to departure was spot on, above and beyond our expectations. My wife and daughter saw and experienced things they will remember for a lifetime from the manta's to the sharks, and elephant ride to the coconuts! And Derek, the best guide you could wish for - we have even booked him gain for next year!!! Thanks you again for the trip, we will be back for sure if not sooner! Cheers The Shimmins, UK

Thanks to the Underwater Tribe I am left with great memories, more photography skills, some great shots, and new friends. Even before I booked, Mike was very good at answering my questions, giving advice and explaining the workshops. Miho even made a few phone calls to book another part of my trip in Indonesia.
On the course which was divided between Lembeh Straight and Bunaken both Mike and Luca were professional, maintained a great sense of humour (not easy when dealing with up to 12 individuals) and the course was very educational.
**A great point of difference for these guys is they take slates underwater so they can write on them and give you tips. Courses run by some other companies have instructors who dive with their cameras and you hardly ever see them while diving and communication is very hard when you do.
Lessons given on land were thorough and informative and we were given digital files to study at home. Luca and Mike are accomplished photographers and were very easy to talk with and shared their ideas and techniques freely.
The diving in both Lembeh and Bunaken was great and Luca's local knowledge of Bunaken provided us with beautiful dives without the current.

Attention to detail and customer care are what makes this company stand out. We joined them on a dive safari of north Bali, as the fourth leg of our month-long trip around Indonesia, having spent 3 weeks in the north of the country.
We were met at the airport and over-nighted at Denpasar in a very nice hotel. Mindful of the fact that we had had a long travel day, paperwork was left for us to complete in our own time; a refreshing approach. In the morning we were collected, and we expected to be with a group - very surprised to find that the vehicle, driver and guide were just for us. Over the next 6 days we were treated to the most excellent service. The diving, site-wise, was tailored to exactly what we like; the dive start times adjusted to suit us, with early starts; and the length of dives extended to the absolute maximum. An hour became a short dive, and 110 minutes will have to be bettered when we return. The care and assistance, particularly when shore-diving, was most welcome; and the advice regards places to eat in the evenings was spot-on for good local food.

I've been taking underwater photos for about a year now, but there were still some shots I could never figure out. I decided to just sign up for a photo class to quickly improve my skills so my dive trips wouldn't go to waste. Underwater tribe was the only one that had a photo class available in bali and I signed up for a 3 day class with Mike. He was an amazing teacher who was always patient and making underwater photo concepts super easy to understand for any layman. Mike will work with what camera configuration you have to try and get the best out of it. He does not sell you any camera equipment. All he does is work with you to I wish i had done the classes much earlier! I feel my photos have now significantly improve compared to before I had the class.

After the photo class I did a regular 3 day dive in nusa penida with their guide, Parman, who was provided amazing service throughout and did his best to please his guests. I had him as a private guide throughout the whole time without paying extra.

The photo class was money well spent! I would definitely dive with these guys again even if not for the photo class.

As a diver with nearly 800 dives under my weight belt and having dived Indonesia many times l can not recommend these guys more highly. If you are into Underwater Photography and wish to take it to the next level you cannot go wrong with attending one of their workshops or enlist their one on one instruction. The practical in water training makes it all so much easier to understand and is open to all levels, l have no hesitation in recommending to my friends and to anyone reading this review. Diving in Indonesia can be challenging so it is critical to go with people who know the dive sites and when and when not to dive there, both Luca and Mike have many years experience to ensure your safety and enjoyment. The Underwater Tribe have definitely taken my photography to a level l never thought possible which l thank them for as well as making my diving in Indonesia so much fun! Cheers,Steve W.

We spend 4 days with Mike Veitch, Luca and Derek at Tulamben. My wife attended a UW COURSE with Mike and I did two specialty courses with Luca.
Those two guys are great teachers, very competent dive maters, full of knowledge, and will help you to progress in all aspects of diving, photo...
We had an amazing time, accommodation at Mimpi (dream) was enjoyable, clean tidy, well located.
With UW tribe you are looked after, gear is carried for you... A small but so efficient and professional company. My learning with Luca was unbelievable. Here is a man who inspire relaxation in the water, calm and safety at all time.Completing deep diving was a great challenge, very rewarding, and learning more about PPB, is a must do.
In regards to the photo course the details and program by Mike are exceptional as he shares all tricks and tips to take amazing pics .
We are so pleased to recommend very highly Underwater Tribe in Sanur, Bali. What you get for a modest price is GREAT!
finally diving in Tulamben on the Liberty wreck was fun, easy, full of good surprises. Fish and critters are there waiting for you. A special place not to be missed.
Thank you again to Underwater Tribe .
