I stumbled across Lila Spa while walking along Jl Tamblingan. I was looking for somewhere that did Shellac nail polish, after being quoted 200,000 rp at a spa around the corner, I saw Lila and asked here, and it was only 150,000 Rp. Their spa is tucked back a little way next to what looked like a coffee shop, so is easy to miss. Only looks small from the front area but several people came in while I had my nails done and were led to the back to the massage rooms. Lady who did my nails was very friendly and chatty. I would return to try their massages as their prices are decent ( 70,000 for a one hour massage)

We visited Lila Spa many times during our stay in Sanur. My partner and I had several massages, a foot scrub and a foot massage. Staff were lovely 🙂 The only downside I would say, is the lack of cleanliness. It looks very tired.

My partner and I love getting massages and it's always a treat to get fantastic and cheap massages whenever we travel around Southeast Asia. But one thing that always stumps us is, how can you tell if you're going to get a great massage? You really can't tell if you're going to get a fantastic rubdown, or a blah one, just by the prices or even looking at the establishment. We've had bad experiences in great looking spas and fabulous massages in little mom-and-pop-run massage places. It's really a crapshoot. So imagine our surprise when we stumbled upon Lila Spa and Beauty Salon. It was our last day in Sanur and we wanted to get a great massage. We've been to several on Jalan Danau Tamblingan (and there were a lot of spas on this road!) and the experience ranged from really awful to pretty good. On our last day, we decided to check out a spa about two minutes' walk from our hotel but were told that there was only one therapist available. So we decided to go look for another one, which was fortunate as this was where we stumbled upon Lila Spa. There's a coffee bar in front of it, so it's pretty easy to miss. If we weren't looking for a spa, we wouldn't even have given it a glance. So why did we love this place? First, it was quiet, like a spa should be — probably because we were the only customers and there were only two therapists. I'd like to think though that this is how they always operate. Second, we were shown into an actual room. Most places in the area we've been to, the massage beds are closed off by curtains and you'd be lucky to get any privacy at all. Lila had a couples room and one that had several beds in it. Third, they didn't try to "con" us into trying more expensive massages. Two places we went to on the same road said we should try their specialty, which was a bit more expensive than the basic traditional Balinese massage, which they said consisted of just light kneading, as opposed to the more expensive massage, which would really target problem areas (they said). The therapists at Lila just agreed to what we wanted, which brings me to the most important point... Fourth: The therapists actually knew what they were doing. The pressure was just right, not too light and not too hard. They knew how to knead and target the muscle groups, and paid special attention to problem areas. I have lower back problems and am usually careful about telling my therapists about going easy on this area, but with my therapist at Lila, I just let her massage away, because she obviously knew what she was doing. And she was thorough — she targeted all the problem areas, from the feet to the head! I actually regretted just getting a one hour massage, as two hours would probably have been great! It was the best one-hour massage we had on this trip. And it only cost Rp70,000 (roughly SGD7 and US6) each. Definitely worth it! Address: Lila Spa and Beauty Salon No. 6 Jalan Danau Tamblingan, Sanur, Bali How to get there: It's about five minutes' walk from Kejora Suites, and it's right after Bali Organic (an organic apotek (apothecary/drugstore) and massage place) and next to a coffee bar (sorry, I forgot the name of the cafe!).
