What an amazing place to do your Spa courses!!!! They have Balinese vibe on your first step to come. Variety courses with the best international knowledgeable trainer (they do know exactly what they're doing, and they have a great communication), assist you with all matters that you need (they can help to assist for accommodation and airport service), real human model for the practical sessions, certificate of CIBTAC and VTCT, also certificate for their courses, and all for reasonable and affordable prices. Thank you so much for the owner, Bu Penny, and the team there which all of them are always have a smile on their face. And they also do retails for their products! The dog, Mango, is an adorable doggy!

Hi Chris Thank you so much for your review. I am really happy you like Bali BISA (and our Mango who adopted us 4 years ago. Yes our Tutors work very hard to keep their skills updated and always bring that wonderful Balinese style into their teaching. Like you many of our students travel from overseas. Some are nervous when they arrive as they don't really know what to expect. Our school provides not just world class teaching but also a warm and friendly environment where the can feel relaxed safe and secure. The administration staff always help if they need anything non related to the school. Thank you again Chris and hope to see you again in the future. Penny

I have 2 favourite massages at this spa
They do this amazing treatment called 'Raindrop' using high quality essential oils, the treatment is carried out professionally and with care and you leave the spa feeling balanced physically and emotionally.
My second favourite is their intuitive massage. They highly trained therapists just know where your body needs that bit of extra support. You leave feeling uplifted.
Highly recommend this spa, it's off the beaten track and as a resident of Sanur I can tell you it's well worth the trip!
Oh and their reflexology is also really good.

I am a regular client of BaliBisa and enjoy coming to the school on a weekly basis. The professionalism and teaching methods are first class and both the students and trainers are really friendly. The environment provides the backdrop to calm and relaxing meditative vibes during your massage experience. Trainers usually teach students on a one to one basis and you always feel completely at ease. I would definitely recommend anyone to come, either as a student on a massage course or as a model. Both experiences leave you feeling wonderful.

Dear Angela, On behalf of myself and our team, I thank you for your recommendation. We value your continued support for our students to have the opportunity to work with clients while they are learning, as it gives them much confidence from the feedback they get from you and many other clients. It also gives them a real experience of working in the Spa Industry. Our students learning environment is very important to us. However I have to say our clients are as important and we are very grateful to you for giving up your time to come and enjoy what they are learning and also to see how they progress into truly world class therapists at the end of their course. Many thanks for your continued support. If you are living in Sanur and would also like to be a client for our students, feel free to call us.

Enrolled for the crystal healing course.us$594 thrown in the garbage!i got to do 2 dayly massage sessions with the same models.almost 0 training about crystal healing.Owner has about 10 crystals.that's it.On the first day i complained about the lesson.I did not pay for a massage course.but continued for the following 3 days.learnt about efflourage, and just basics about crystal healing.Penny the owner seems only interested about money.my course was delayed.i was told that the course was full, only to learn that she had no teacher for the course.Than i was the only one,"Vip"she said...lies..owner is full of it.
Totally a bad expirience.i 've been swindled.no other word to explain it.I defenetly DO NOT RECOMMEND this place. At the moment there are almost no teachers(3).so if they say the course is full...it's because there is no course without a teacher.

Dear Erica, Thank you for your feedback I am sorry the course did not meet your expectations. From our website: holistic-treatments/crystal-healing-course This crystal healing course opens up a world of beautiful, colorful and fascinating crystals. They can also act as conduits for healing due to their energy vibrations. Each mineral has its own unique qualities known as a crystalline structure or sacred geometry. Students learn the energetic powers of each crystal and their relationship to each of the chakras, a person’s spiritual energy centres. The use of a crystal wand with a range of grid layouts are mastered to ensure maximum healing potential for each unique client. Based on a solid foundation of essential crystal therapy students will also learn how to add reiki, massage, visualization and meditation to this treatment. Points: See below from our website. It states clearly massage is included. Schedule change: This had to be changed due to your late confirmation, which you were fine with. Keep in mind the school was opened just for you on Saturday and Sunday. (School opening Monday to Friday) Day 1 - You told your tutor you didn't want to do massage. Her reply was clear that the course could be customized for you. Your reply to your tutor (and me) "No, it's okay because this is part of the course to get my certificate". Day 2 - You said you were interested to know about the massage and liked it. Day 3 - No complaints. You requested not to get a "fat!" client for you. Day 4 - 17/4/2022 Complaints, Christal grid being theory not physically shown. You broke a crystal, Your tutor did tell you this will need to be payed for. Day 5 - 18/4/2022 - Your last day - You arrived at the school at 8:30am (the school is open to students from 9am). You we're shouting and screaming at the housekeeping staff. Then your tutor arrived, the same outbursts! On my arrival to school. Your words were "I am an Italian, I can scream like an Italian". An apology was made to you of which I was told to shut up! Neither myself or the tutor were not allowed to speak. You just kept on screaming. Your fees were repaid in full. Your outburst included the following: False accusations regarding the school. Threats on social media. Personal un-truthful attacks on my character. Your words: "The tutor is a good massage therapist not a healer". Your tutor is a dedicated Internationally qualified Spa Training Manager, her qualifications include CIBTAC, VTCT, & ITEC. She has been with BISA for 6 years. All Balinese people are natural healers. Pointing your finger and shouting at our tutor: This is one of the highest forms of disrespect and rudeness in the Indonesian culture. Your words: "I am Italian and I can scream very loudly" is another cultural issue. Balinese people take this as offensive rude and the person being out of control. Conclusion: Bali BISA has been teaching this course for many years. Many students have completed and have been very happy with it. It has been awarded as a CIBTAC Endorsed Course. You were given the opportunity to adapt this course on day 1. You didn't. You have waited till your last day to make outrageous slanderous statements against Bali BISA myself and our tutor. You have been given a 100% refund for your course (Which you received it very happily and big smile on your face). It is strange that you took your training manual? As the course was so terrible. You also didn't pay for the broken Chrystal! (which is very expensive to replace, especially in Bali). You have every right to say the course is not what you expected. In good faith from the beginning the Bali BISA team did everything they could to ensure you had a good experience with us. YOU chose not to take it. Instead you waited till the end of week to display outrageous behavior. You use the word swindled. I am a 67 year old woman who has been in this industry for over 40 years. I have never and would never swindle anybody. Your fees were returned to you in full. Re COVID Like most businesses around the world, the last 2 years have been a huge struggle. Bali BISA has survived, and yes like most we are starting over. We had 10 tutors pre-covid We are starting again with 3 tutors, of which I am very proud of. Om Swastiastu

I was looking for massage schools for quite long and finally decided to learn at Bali Bisa, in Sanur, Indonesia, which is a well-reputed, professional and CIBTAC accredited Massage Academy.
Both the owner and the instructors are very kind, helpful and flexible to make your course tailor-made to your needs.
The school is located in a unique villa, surrounded by the tropical green.
The method of the training is excellently build and backed-up with the necessary theoretical knowledge too. In other massage school it is absolutely missing!
I loved the philosophy of Bali Bisa, according to which they treat the body-mind-soul together.
Every morning we started with yoga and meditation, which gave the perfect frame to our day. I got much more then a massage course!
Bali Bisa is certainly the place if you want to learn from the Professionals!

Thank you again:))

This is an honest review I made based on my 2 times taking courses here.

The first time I was here on October 2015 taking Anatomy & Physiology course with Ms. Dede. Everything was smooth, pleasant, and I learned a lot of new things.
I liked BISA very much that I decided to return to take 2 months CIBTAC courses.

It turned out that the second experience was completely a downgrade compared to my first one.

1. We were a group of 5 students. The academy put us in 2nd floor living room with no air conditioner - and we had to practice in the afternoon in hot & humid Bali. Even our models got sweaty and sticky; and I got skin rash because of severe hot weather.
Just a week before CIBTAC examiner from UK arrived, they installed one small AC in the large living room which did not help at all.

Anyway do not picture BISA venue as an "academy building campus" - the school is actually a private house / villa and the classrooms are mostly the house bedrooms.

2. My CIBTAC courses consist of 2 parts: Anatomy & Physiology and Spa Therapy with 4 treatments modules.
Having taken Anatomy & Physiology before in the very same venue, I could clearly tell that BISA does NOT have the equal quality of trainers.
One of the trainers assigned to teach us Anatomy & Physiology Diploma is not even a CIBTAC Diploma holder herself (only Award), and I only recalled my previous lessons with Ms. Dede to help me pass the course. My classmates were often confused and the assigned trainer seemed to avoid our tricky questions by "saving the questions for later" - but that's where the story ended.

It is a pity because Penny kept telling us "the trainer knows what she is doing" - while unfortunately a miss.

While the other one is the Training Manager herself - Ms. WATI.
Wati was exceptional and we were all happy with her. She only taught us 2 last modules but she was kind enough to review our Anatomy in a glance. Our group of 5 came from different backgrounds, and Wati knew how to balance her teaching style so it catered equally to both experienced and beginners.

3. I am a spa therapist for 2 years myself and I do not learn new things here. The only few things that made me learn are some tricks, tips, and small gimmicks given by Wati and some other good trainers like KADEK or DEWI - they cared for us though actually we were not their students.

Your experience will totally depend on your assigned trainer - so I recommend you to strongly REQUEST FOR WATI / DEDE for your best and maximum learning experience. Actually I reckon all other trainers as good and knowledgeable, but Wati & Dede are the BEST from the rest.

Having said that, your requests will be accommodated by Ms. IKA the Chief Accountant. She is always smiling and works really hard to make students feel comfortable.

I wanted to give 2-stars rating, but the staff made me give 3-stars because yes, they are lovely. It is a shame that such great staff are treated so awfully by the greedy and unprofessional management.

TIP:
If you are a newcomer to the industry, go here.
If you are a current spa experts looking for certification, do not come here.
There are other more credible spa academies worldwide like in Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur...even there's other one in Bali Nusa Dua who other people said more professionally managed.

Dear Singgih H, Thank you so much for taking the time to submit your very well-balanced review of your recent learning experience with us. We always welcome positive and negative feedback, especially the latter as it helps us to identify areas for improvement. We are sorry to learn that your latest training at BISA did not live up to your expectations. This is a situation we take very seriously as very rarely do we have students whom are dissatisfied in any way. However, every student is a unique individual with varying perspectives, so please allow me respond in detail to your key points. 1. Bali BISA has been operating for over 10 years and one of the key attractions for most students is the Balinese atmosphere. The school premises are in a home-like setting which works very well for a maximum class size of 6 students, that number being our absolute limit in order to deliver on our promise of customizing the training to suit the needs of each student. This is not to downplay the professionalism of other CIBTAC centres with more formal academic settings and larger classes such as found in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. The 2nd floor living area you refer to is one of our most popular training areas because of the balmy breezes coming through the doors and windows. This is part of the experience of studying in the tropics, but still there are five ceiling fans for circulation purposes and extra floor fans used when required. Air conditioning experts had previously advised that AC units would not be effective in this large space and given that all other classrooms already have AC installed we decided not install AC. However, at the time of your course the weather was unusually hot, so we proceeded to install an air-conditioning unit due to concerns for student comfort. The BISA facility has been approved by both CIBTAC & VTCT in terms of the space size, health & safety regulations, equipment, plus much more. CIBTAC & VTCT Examiners always comment on the beauty and tranquility of the facility. The fact that the timing of AC installation was before the CIBTAC exams had nothing to do with our decision. CIBTAC examiners have been coming to the school four times a year for 7 years, and not one examiner has advised that the space required AC. In fact all have nothing but good things to say about our facilities as do our students. We would have been happy to provide extra floor fans if we had known about your discomfort during your training and moved your hands-on practice with outside models to another location. Almost 90% of our models are repeaters, and none have complained about the temperature or conditions at the academy. The school facilities are as follows; Ground Floor a. Parking Area for students and trainers using their own transport b. Reception Area with fans c. Administration Office with AC d. Open access office for all trainers and students needs and Marketing department with fans e. Preparation area with cupboards for equipment and product storage f. Aesthetics room for facials, waxing, scrubs, wraps and massage + luxury bathroom. It is air-conditioned. g. Cream Bath Room + Manicure Pedicure + Facials can be done in this room. It is air-conditioned. h. Open Bale: This is used for A-Shiatsu and Thai Massage, plus rest and relax for students and trainers. i. Laundry. 3 toilets. Locker facilities for staff and students j. The lunch and break area, gardens and water fall give a lovely ambiance to the school’s places designed for for relaxation, contemplation and further study. k. Water, tea and coffee are free flowing all day for both students and staff. 1st Floor a. Large training room which houses 7 beds and offers 5 fans and one 1 AC unit. b. Meditation and Yoga stretch are done in this open space from 9am – 9 30am every morning for students & trainers c. Room 1 has 2 massage beds (it can accommodate 3 massage beds) with a luxury bathroom. It is air-conditioned. d. Room 2 same as above. This room is also used for our overhead projector system when teaching theory with Anatomy & Physiology being key. The software used for this training is a professional teaching tool which is interactive for all students to use when studying this topic. It is air-conditioned. e. Room 3 is a library with many books students can use. It is also a quiet space for students studying and working with their required assignments. It is an open area hence airy and light. Fans are provided for further comfort. 2. As to the qualifications of the trainer you mention, she has the CIBTAC qualification for Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology. Her pass mark was 96%. All CIBTAC’s A&P are the same in all of their modules, be it an Award, Certificate or Diploma. It is compulsory for all CIBTAC students to do A&P, hence the qualification and required study hours is the same for all 3 levels As you pointed out there were five students, of which you all passed your Anatomy & Physiology exam. Well done. I believe this shows the professionalism, dedication and knowledge the trainer you speak about has passed on to all of the students in this group. Our small class sizes allow for plenty of time for questions, and this would have been the time to ask for clarification. 3. It is interesting that you advised that you did not learn anything new about practical massage therapies other than tricks and tips. If you had existing expertise in these areas, then was it really reasonable to expect to learn a lot more given that techniques in bodywork modalities are fairly standard around the world? Students who arrive with I know it all attitude are less likely to learn as they fail to listen carefully and ask the right questions from their trainer. Most of our CSQ1 students are new to the industry so starting from zero experience. In your case, it may have been more productive to select a CIBTAC massage course for which you had no prior knowledge. I would have been happy to guide you on the best choice based on your background and future ambitions. My door and email inbox are always open to conversations about how to best fulfill the career objectives of my students. RESPONSE TO ACCUSATIONS OF MISMANAGEMENT As the founder of Bali BISA, I was genuinely distressed with your statement that is a shame that such great staff are treated so awfully by the greedy and unprofessional management. I am not sure where you got this impression from as this is far from the truth. The Vision and Mission of Bali BISA regarding staff is very clear: “All BISA staff are treated with honor, integrity and respect. All staff share this vision and mission with each other” The Management of BISA put all staff as their number 1 priority. Examples of this are: 1. Industry-competitive wages, 2. Generous service charge given at the same time as their salary 3. Health Insurance for themselves and their family. 4. Yearly bonus 5. All Indonesian statuary holidays with sensitivity to time off for the many ceremonies that Bali is famous for. 6. Paid sick leave 7. Continuous in house training up to CIBTAC and VTCT levels are all completed during working hours. Wati (Training Manager), Ibu Made (Housekeeping Manager ) and Ika (Accounting Manager) have been with Bali BISA between six to ten years. The school would not be the success it is today without their loyalty and dedication which I would say of all the staff. When Wati was a finalist for CIBTAC Tutor of the Year in 2015, management paid for her to attend the Awards Ceremony in the UK. She was given a wonderful week’s holiday spent with me and my family showing her all the sights of London and Nottingham. In Wati’s words “I have a second family in the UK” Does this sound like uncaring management? Rather than elaborate more about the management of Bali BISA I would like to invite you to meet with me as the founder of the Bali BISA at your convenience to address these grievances. I look forward to hearing from you. I am a fully qualified remedial therapist and I decided to add spa therapies to my repetoir ( i have a small educational and wellness business in australia.
I decided to come to Bali, the spa capital of the world to soak in the balineses culture and to train. Bali Bisa met my expectations. I received excellent training by very friendly and accomadiating trainers who were very particular in making sure that I attained the skills required.
The training was proficient and conducted very professionally in a homely balinese environment.
I loved my time at the college and have now booked in for some other courses next year. Thankyou bali Bisa

Set in a beautiful building with really friendly teachers, this is an international school that has a range of different massage courses. Being a professional Massage Therapist from Sydney I was pleasantly surprised at how good this place was. Students start the day with meditation and a bit of yoga, then straight into a professionally taught course. I had chosen to undertake Balinese Massage which is a fascinating combination of Swedish, acupressure and Lomi-Lomi. Everything from greeting your client to how to tie the sarong on your client at the end of the massage was taught. It was fantastic to interact with Indonesian people as a fellow student and colleague rather than just as a tourist. I would definintely recommend this school to undertake a massage course.

I really liked this school, but I can also see the improvements that it can make to be even better. I was a international student and spent 3 months training here. You have to go with the view that your training in another country and standards are different. Your being trained by Balinese teachers whose first language isn't English. The structure isn't perfect and things are done very differently to what I had expected. However saying this, I had a great experience learning a new skill in a beautiful country. The teachers are all lovely and their practical skills are very good. I would reccommend doing a short course here first before committing to a long stay. I would like to see a more structured timetable on arrival and a full introduction and welcome on day 1. I felt abit like a headless chicken on my first day and it seemed unorganised and unclear what I should be doing and I have to say in my time here many of the students felt the same. I hope you can take the advice on board and make the school even better as it is a good school and very unique. Thank you.

Dear Fran, We appreciate you taking the time to comment on your experience at Bali BISA. We always take comments such as yours very seriously as we are committed to finding ways to improve our quality of service. Thank you for your lovely comments about our Balinese Trainers. They are indeed committed to delivering professional expertise to all students. Arriving in a new country can create stress for anyone and in your case this was compounded by problems with your ATM card. Unfortunately the timetable did have to be adjusted due to your personal circumstances and also several trainers unexpectedly resigned around the same time. Thankfully, I already had senior, international personnel lined up to start. Sarah was one of the new tutors and I believe you thoroughly enjoyed her training unit involving warm stones & crystals. Despite these minor issues, I remained personally involved on a daily basis to ensure you were kept on track with your training, . I am really sorry that I did not meet your expectations. We constantly review our systems to ensure all students are being delivered the highest quality of training through small class sizes and strong training materials to ensure if the student has not understood our trainers due to language problems that they do have comprehensive work books for home study. I wish you all the success in the world on your new journey as a Complimentary Therapist. Congratulations on the high exam marks you received in all the modules you enrolled in. * CIBTAC Endorsed Maternity Program * VTCT Level 3 in Complimentary Therapies (Swedish Massage, Aromatherapy Massage, Reflexology, Anatomy & Physiology, Business Studies) * VTCT Warm Stones & Crystal Therapy * BISA Scrubs & Wraps Thank you again for the constructive and positive feedback. I will without a doubt look at ways to improve our service to all of our students. Kind Regards, Penny Ellis Bali BISA Founder
