1) The itinerary was dependent on weather, winds and tides which allowed guests to fully experience the safest and best diving. As we all know, dive safaris are trips into the wild and mother nature ultimately determines what you can do or see. This was carefully evaluated by the crew members and cruise manager, and we covered 21 dives in both the north and the south of Komodo National park. During the first and last day, land trips around the parks were carefully planned to suit the no dive flight time which allowed guests to never feel bored.
2) Hospitality and Food - It is amazing what can be whipped up on board with carefully planned meals by the chef and his team. We were very well fed with freshly made whole foods throughout the trip and not one dish was repeated over the last 8 days. Full service was also provided regarding dive gear assembly, DRYING, and movement of suitcases from the airport to the cabin. Cabins and boat were kept in immaculate condition with the crew working round the clock to clean and dry every crevice.
3) The extra little touches - I spent my 30th birthday on the boat and was not expecting anything. The crew did a whole Indonesian feast and a whole birthday cake made from scratch! There were drums, guitar and metal spoons involved in this little performance. Best birthday ever!
10/10 recommend Dune Aurora to anyone who is looking for a full and complete diving experience without missing the destinations that require gravity and feet as well. Pink beach too touristy? They dropped us off at a secret beach that was also pink and we got the best drone shots. Padar island trek for your IG posts and stalking mating komodos? Or a thousand bats covering the night sky during a sunset? Dreamy...
I traveled solo and Komodo is one of the most romantic and magical holidays one can ever ask for. This is my second time back and this live aboard experience proceeds my expectations.
Counting down to the next time I sail with Dune Aurora again, hopefully to the many other Indonesian dive havens the earth can offer..

We recently returned from a 9 day Raja Ampat trip with Dune Aurora and we're still smiling! The dives were incredible, the crew super attentive and great at tailoring each dive group's experience to their interests and abilities, the food was excellent, and the boat is charming and comfortable. We saw oceanic manta and pygmy seahorses among many other firsts! Special thanks to Ricky for world-class spotting, and to Gilliam for being such a resourceful cruise director and handling some unexpected issues with grace. This trip was well worth the money and we are interested in their other Indonesia itineraries in the future!

I am just back from a 8 days cruise in the komodo national park. and I am eager to post this review to say thank you to the crew which made this cruise so enjoyable. Diving is about details and safety and the crew and dive masters have the constant attention to make sure you have the right information about current your camera and your staff ready and so. And when you are back the chief has prepared some great food from breakfast to diner. so I am pleased to recommend Dune which is a company with the right values and commitment to a sustainable diving world. Everyone on board form various nationalities and diving background shared this views. And Komodo is really a treat if you like current and drift dves. have a look for the blog plogeurs barouders for useful content

I have been diving and cruising the Komodos with the Aurora in July 2017,
The staff pays meticulous attention to your comfort from Day1. Feel like a VIP !
Dives and dive sites are not only for macro lovers : mantas, sharks, various fish schools await you.
Hope I can come back for Raja Ampat this time !

I highly recommend Aurora to dive in the Komodo. The boat is super comfortable. The staffs extremely dedicated. You can ask anything on the boat or under water and they will find it for you. If you are a photographer they handle your camera with a lot of care. It is the first time I never had to worry about my camera. Food is very good. Breakfast is a la carte. Aurora will guarantee you the perfect diving vacation. It is one of the best liveaboard I have done.

Back from 10 days liveaboard around Komodo national park and experienced a great adventure. Great dive boat; Aurora sailing boat set-up is not perfect compared to modern dive boats but so fun ambience aboard. Great dive guides and crew; very professional, well organized, fully dedicated and fun as Indonesian are. Great dive master; a passionate, very knowledgeable on flora and fauna and dedicate to accommodate the itinerary during the trip. Obviously great spots but you would recommend to board to enjoy the adventure.

We have been really fortunate boarding the Aurora because we were only 4 divers instead of 16. I have no doubt the Aurora can accommodate 16 people but it might be a bit tight at certain point in time. Rob, the cruise director, is a great host and made sure that we were enjoying ourselves. He always has plenty of jokes and adventures to make you laugh. In summary, the rooms are adequate and the bathroom is somewhat spacious considering that you are on a boat. Food was simply amazing all through the 12 days. The crew is somewhat reserved but the dive masters are welcoming and enthusiastic. The diving experience at Raja Ampat was amazing. Divers must be aware that some of the dives may have fairly strong current along the way. On the constructive note, I would suggest DUNE to include all surcharges in the original price to avoid unpleasant surprises when checking out. I have been shocked to realize a $200 USD fuel surcharge /person was added to my bill when time came to check out. This was really an unpleasant surprise. This policy is not applied on every live aboard. I recently spent a week on the Cheng Ho and I did not have to pay a penny more for fuel or any other surcharges. The crew has little room to rest and spend their non working time on the boat; most of them gathered at the back of the boat and smoked which made this area pretty much unaccessible for non smoking people.

This was the first live aboard my husband and I have ever done. The service and staff were excellent. The diving was bar none the best warm water diving I have ever done. The dive guides were knowledgable and versed in the underwater life. G-man, Ricky and Franklin showed us the tiniest seahorse and nudibranchs. When your dive guide whips out a magnifying glass, you know it is small. Our cruise director, Rob, was an excellent host and dive guide as well. Norman and Alwi waited on us hand and foot. Be prepared for your shoes to be confiscated and at the end of the trip, you will not want them back.

We booked in March and took a 11 day diving adventure aboard the Aurora.
Her staff and crew were Outstanding. Our every need was attended too, the Boat is very well outfitted. Everything was top notch from the diving, accommodations, food and service I recommend it highly. I am Argonaut Diving Staff AI and we booked the entire vessel - would totally do it again !! This ship is wooden vessel with lots of character and the diving at Raja Ampat is very special ! EVERYONE on the Crew deserves big Kudos as they work hard and do an excellent job!!

I had a great time diving on the Aurora. The crew was fantastic and quite accommodating. The Tour Director examined the current, visibility, etc. at each site so that we weren't swimming against the current. Would happily go again.
