The whole experience was completly faultless. We had a great morning exploring the markets and learning about all the ingredients. The lesson back at the kitchen was easy to follow and the food tasted insane. Benny was lovely and the day was full with laughter.

We loved taking this class so much that we jumped at the opportunity to tell other visitors at our nearby hotel to sign up for the class. This class was easy (i.e. pick up at our hotel at a decent hour), fun (Chef Madi's style is easy going and encourages "playing with food," informative (i.e., we learned about local food and culture as well as techniques for preparing Balinese-specific recipes), and importantly it was delicious. Chef Madi was a great host and tour guide of the Jimbaran fish market and other markets. It isn't always easy to know what one is seeing and what can be purchased when traveling in a new place. Chef Madi has great rapport with the vendors and he explained things like how to determine which fish is the freshest and what certain other food items are and how they are used. We used the food purchased at the market in our lunch preparation. We got to prepare much of our meal in the hotel's outdoor kitchen. We helped to prepare several dishes.Chef Madi is a wonderful chef educator. We relaxed over tea and sweets while Madi completed the rest of meal preparation. We had lunch at the hotel's lovely patio restaurant served by wonderful staff (including Riska). We loved the varied dishes we made and were happy to be able to take our leftovers with us. Enjoy!

The cooking class was more than I expected. The visit to the market in the morning was great because the chef, nadi, showed and explained all about their fruits, vegetables and how to choose the best fish. While the hotel the Bale is beautiful and the staff is super nice, the chef explained everything for us and showed us quite some skills. Also he still manages to keep it fun! The food We had was also amazing and we even took something home! I highly recommend this class!

What a wonderful day my wife and I had since the minute we were picked up. If you are considering a Balinese cooking course, don’t even waste time reading my review and just book it now because I cannot see how anyone would say this is nothing other than brilliant. We were collected from our hotel, iat first I just assumed it was the driver soon I realised this was head Chef Nadi himself. What a lovely fun, smiley and knowledgeable guy. The Balé is a very high end resort and as head chef, he really knows his stuff and has travelled over the world showing off Balinese cuisine. At £70/head, this is great value and whilst they take a maximum of six on the course, it was just the two of us which gave a really personal day out. We went to the local markets where he showed us what the tourists don’t see. Proper backstreet market and we got to try all the different fruits and ingredients before heading to the fish market at the beach. Nadi showed us around and we picked the fish for the days cooking. Nadi then took us through the six courses and we prepared the paste and all the food including filleting the fish and wrapping it in bamboo leaf for steaming and so much more. You then get to sit down and get served the food you have just prepared. We had prawns, crab, snapper, clams, a vegi dish and tuna before heading back to our hotel with a goody bag. We were even met with a friendly handshake from the general manager on the way out.

We had a fantastic and fabulous cooking class with chef Made Nadi. He picked us up at our hotel at the right time (8 am) and then we went to a traditional market for herbs, spices and vegetables and a seafood market for some fish and crrab. Made told us a lot about the products at these markets and he did it in an enthusiastic way! After the market visits we went to the cooking locating, resort The Balé. A luxury resort with an open kitchen. We had some time to relax before we started cooking at 12 pm. We cooked 5 different dishes, Gado Gado / Bumbu Be Pasih / Kare Udang /Sambal Be Tongkol /Pepes Ikan. The chef guided us all the way. After an hour or two of cooking we've finished the dishes and it was time to eat 😊 and we loved it! We can absolutely recommend this cooking class!
