Got picked up from the hotel in a dodgy white van with air con that struggled and i think only had three gears. Finally made it the two and a half hours to the pebble beach. The dive guides were very helpful and the quality of gear was standard for bali. I wouldn't choose this company if i was inexperienced as they have no dive computers or depth gauges to use. Being experienced I was very comfortable. I just hope the padi logo on the flier is from Google images!

First of all, it is worth mentioning that it was my first and only dive on Bali, so maybe, what I am going to tell you about this dive center is true for any other on Bali.
Depending on your preferences, you may either like it or not to dive with Mola-Mola Divers. Personally, I didn't. My boyfriend and I are certified PADI Open Water divers, and we dived several times after the certification in Malasia and Thailand. When we booked this 2-dives tour through a street travel agent in Kuta, we asked if the dive-shop was PADI-certified, and the answer was 'yes'. Later I checked online, and didn't find them listed on the PADI site. Anyways, these dives were a totally different experience from all our previous dives. They assemble all your equipment for you, check it themselves, and I had to insist on pausing for a buddy-check before we went into the water. I don't think that they're careless about safety. It's more like they'd rather do everything themselves, and some people, probably, like it. But for me doing all those things is a part of my diving experience. And I feel that this time this part was taken away from me.
The dives themselves were ok, but the dive-master was not entertaining at all, more like I'm-Just-Doing-My-Job-Here type.
Next time I would definitely look for some other dive center, and would verify their credentials before booking.

Danny met and discussed our options with us, really nice bloke and helped us create a two day dive package.

Met up with Tarzan at the first dive site, to be our DM for the two days, great great bloke. Tarzan has a wealth of knowledge in both the dive sites and diving in general.

The down side was the equipment; tanks with worn 'O' rings, tanks not up to 200 bar and two BCDs with self inflating issues.

All the staff at each dive site were great, food was good and plenty of water.

My friend and I went diving with Mola Mola Dive Center this week. While the actual diving experience was great (clear water, nice coral/fish, two amazing manta rays), everything else was shady, incompetent, lazy or dangerous.

We were picked up at our hotel in the morning and taken to the dive center. When we arrived, the guy at the center asked for payment in cash. Neither of us had that much cash on hand, assuming that a PADI dive center would happily take credit cards. After way too much discussion, he agreed to take payment by credit card.. but required a 5% credit card fee. I understand that a credit card surcharge is pretty standard in dive companies and other small-ish businesses in southeast Asia, but I've never had one ask for more than 3% in my years of traveling. We pointed this out and he wouldn't budge. On principle, we chose to go to an ATM and get cash out instead of paying the suspiciously high surcharge. We were asked if we had PADI certification (which we both have) but the company never asked for any proof -- already a sign of the company's lack of interest in our safety.

We then went to the boat (a small one as we were the only two divers on the trip) and headed out to Manta Point. The ride out there was fine and I think we made pretty good time. Once we arrived, we put on our gear and got ready to dive. Thankfully, my friend and I are reasonably experienced divers because the guide and crew didn't do any equipment safety checks or even suggest that we do any ourselves. The process was rushed and if we didn't know what we were doing, it could have been dangerous. Once we descended, my friend had to tighten the connection between my regulator and tank because it was leaking a significant amount of air. The guide somehow didn't notice this even after several minutes in the water. While diving, the guide seemed much more interested in taking photos of fish/coral than he was in keeping an eye on us.

Between dives, lunch was acceptable but basic. We were given bottled water a couple times during the day but it was warm because the dive company didn't bother to bring a cooler with ice. It's not a huge deal, obviously, but that just seemed lazy.

On our way back to the mainland, the motors stalled. While one of the boat crew tinkered with the motors and fuel lines, another stood about 2 feet away with a lit cigarette. After about 10 minutes of messing around with the motors, one of the crew pulled up a panel on the floor of the boat to reveal the fuel tank. He propped one end up so that it was tilted toward the motors. At this point I realized that the motors weren't broken -- THE BOAT HAD JUST RUN OUT OF FUEL. We spent the next hour and a half stranded in the middle of the ocean because the company didn't fill the fuel tanks properly. Unbelievable. After several phone calls and 90+ minutes of waiting, another boat from the company dropped off a container of fuel for our boat and took us onto the new boat for the ride back to shore.

We eventually arrived back on land and were taken back to the dive center office. There was no apology from the guy running the office, no offer of compensation, etc. Just "Ok, the driver will take you to your hotel". After floating around in rough seas for so long, my friend was extremely nauseous and we didn't stick around to argue with the guy at the center, especially since they clearly have no regard the enjoyment or safety of their customers.

To top it all off, we called the next day to ask them to send us the photos the guide had taken of us during the dive. We were told that the guide had "deleted the photos because he thought we didn't want them" -- meaning that they almost certainly still had the photos on the camera but knew we weren't going to give them any extra money so it wasn't worth the 2 minutes it would take to download and email the photos to us.

I strongly recommend avoiding this company. They're incompetent and dangerous.

Pros: Manta Point was beautiful.

Cons: Absolutely everything else.

My boyfriend and I did our open water course with these guys. The service offered was terrible - we felt unsafe, the dive instructor Hendri was hungover/drunk at every lesson and far from being apologetic, was even making jokes about the vomit in the water attracting fish.

He was also impatient and got angry with students in the water, treating us roughly and rudely.

He confirmed that I would be able to finish my last two dives on the day we flew out, saying the "no diving before flying" rule doesn't apply as long as we only do a shallow dive (<10m in his words). Insisted on it with his 10 years of experience. On the last day, after we'd driven 1.5 hours to the dive shop, he informed me that I wasn't going to dive that day as I'm flying. Not even "shallow dives". So he offers to certify me as an OW diver even though I hadn't completed my 4 dives. He has no regard for his students' lives, else such an offer would not be made.

Needless to say I learnt very little on this course. Stay away from this dive centre. Pay more for a better place.

all equipment was faulty/dangerous. Paid for the advanced open water. After 6 months still not registered on padi. The theory part was held in a busted up shack. Instructors name was Made Arnita. Would definitely not recommend Mola Mola dive

Hi,

Last week I had the Open Water Diving Course at Mola Mola. I am grateful to note it with excellent as I was very happy with the instructor (Riadi) and I managed to learn even more than I was aware the course will teach me. They included transfer with a good car with AC and also lunch. Theory, practice in pool and 4 dives in the ocean. Everything was great and as a beginner I also felt safe with the instructor who took care of eveything. I recommend Mola Mola centre at least for the PADI courses which from my experience were a great deal.

Staff were nice though they are not professionals. Diving is the experiment with lots of danger and they are not prepared about it at all. Half of the equipment were broken and air was leaking from regulator, and they don't have enough amount of snorkels. If you want to risk your safety for saving pennies, you can go. But if you want truly meaningful learning and nice experience with your safety proved, please find other place.

When I booked my trip I was very excited to have my first scuba diving experience. The reviews on trip advisor then turned my excitement into slight anxiety. Luckily, the negative reviews could not be more wrong.

I did my open water 4 dive qualification with mola mola and the experience and teaching was fantastic.the only slight negative was that I couldn't always understand my instructors accents. The teaching was of great quality and I went on four dives in two fantastic locations. After comparing with my friends who did this in Thailand, I saw a lot more than they did.

Thank you mola mola for a great diving experience!

We were been picked up by the company 8:15am from Ubud and it took almost 2.5 hours to reach Tulamben diving point. The coach taught us how to breath in the water and release the pressure in the sea. I was so nervous the first time diving but I saw so many beautiful fished and creatures under the sea. The sunk boat under the sea had many corals and fishes surround everywhere. The undersea world is really awesome. You can't miss it! Unfortunately it had a heavy rain in the afternoon and we had to leave there earlier. The package is include the lunch box and pick up and drop off to the hotel. The coach will take max. two divers with him to dive under the sea. We are the beginners and the coach gave his patients to us. Tulamben is of the best diving place for the diver and attracts people around the world to come here.
