Nice for the small restaurant!! We had lunch at Crumbe and coaster , super nice restaurant!!
However as for the shops , I preferred garden Lane because you feel less alpine in the street .. and frankly, there is nothing exceptional to buy ...
Many people , Scooter cars passing and the streets are small widthwise .. it is a bit tiring ..

If you’ve ever been to Ben Thanh markets in HCMC, these will disappoint you. If not then you’re in for a treat! T-shirt’s $3AUD, NRL jerseys are knock offs (like everything) but very good quality for $20AUD. Gucci shoulder bags $18AUD and so much more. Bargain hard but always with a smile and friendly banter with the stall holder. Cut the first price down with a friendly “aahhhh noooo waaaay too dear, give me your best price”. Then cut that by two thirds and start bartering. TShirts started at 200,000 and came down to between 30,000 and 50,000. Shoulder bags started at 450,000 and came down to between 150,000 and 180,000. The NRL jersey came from 400,000 to 185,000. So don’t ever settle for the first quotes !!! The stall holder won’t sell to you if they aren’t making profit, so don’t be too hard! Pay a fair price and check out other stall pricing before making your mind up. But most of all have fun with it. Smile, laugh crack jokes and don’t make it a challenge you MUST win and you’ll walk away happy.

As expected, have been before.
Hustle and bustle of cheap massages, stalls, restaurants etc
If you like bargaining you will love it. If you want quiet you will hate it.
Please be warned we have travelled to Bali many times and have heard the stories about money changers that one should avoid the stall money changers.
In Poppies 1 we attempted to exchange $100NZ
Young man was relatively confident exchanging 20,000 rupiah notes. Appeared to count the right amount but when we got back to the hotel we were 400,000 can you believe it, short.
Went straight back to confront the individual and miraculously when he counted the money it was correct. He gave the money back but were disturbed about the whole experience and how easy we had been fleeced. It was our own fault and thankfully our money was returned.
We returned to a money changer who we thought was reliable but being more aware this time on counting it was 200,000 rupiah short. He gave our money back and suggested we go somewhere else.
Big lesson learnt. Go to the legitimate money changers at malls/banks.
Locals advised the rates are elevated in the streets to lure people in but these are skilled con men and women and you will get fleeced.
Play it safe, enjoy your holiday
Overall did enjoy service from Bella 1 Massage in Poppies 2 and The Grind Cafe in Poppies 1
Plus we learnt a big lesson

Went to Poppies for Dinner in February. Was our best dining experience during our 2 weeks in Seminyak and Kuta. Beautiful setting and meals were great. Not nearly as expensive as a lot of restaurants and even have Bintang on tap. Never disappoints.

The rule of thumb here is to bargain and bargain hard and you´ll be really surprised at how low the shop owners will actually go. Have a price in mind before you enter one of the many shops in Poppies 1 and don´t be afraid to say no and walk away. Of the fifteen or so minutes that it took us to walk from Jalan Legain to Jalan Pantai Kuta (Poppies 1 runs between these two streets) we managed to purchase numerous t-shirts and dresses for a mere Rp30,000 - Rp40,000, even though the starting prices were in the vicinity of Rp150,000 - Rp200,000.
There are numerous restaurants and bars situated along Poppies 1 but we found it much more rewarding to wait until we reached the beach at which stage we were able to order ice cold coconut juice and bakso (meatball and noodle soup) and relax on the beach.
Not really a suitable place for young children though as there are cars, motorbikes and trucks making use of this thoroughfare and sometimes there isn´t much room to breathe as they slowly make their way up the lane.

The goods they sell are identical, mainly are the souvenirs and T-Shirts.
Requires a lot of haggling skills as their price are never fixed. They will quote a sky high price and when you turn and walk away, they will reduce the price. They gets a little aggressive at times as they dependent very much on tourist business.
If not interested or price is too high, just gently decline and walk away, they are used to that, though they may follow you for a few shops away to try to sell to you. If you have a price in mind, just quote it to them and if they are willing to sell you at your desired price, go for it.
A word of caution, do look out for the traffic as the lane is small both Poppies 1 & 2 and cars/taxi/motorcycles are squeezing their way

I bought 6-G Shock watches from " Honest Robin" in Poppies 1.
On the right hand side as you walk to Kuta beach. About half way down
All were perfect. One leaked but was replaced immediately. The rest stayed waterproof in the pool and surf and are still perfect.
Got the camouflage military type. They look cool !
He is honest and a decent guy.

We love Bali and we enjoy the myriad of restaurants, bars and cafes that line Poppies Lane 1. We holiday in Bali regularly as it is inexpensive and quick to get to from Brisbane Airport. Although we have read reviews previously about the slight-of-hand techniques of unscrupulous money changers, we had never encountered any in any of our previous visits. In fact we enjoy speaking with, and spending time with the Balinese people, who are always friendly and keen to practise their English on us. However sad to say we now have experienced firsthand the dishonest practices of a money changer trying to steal rupiah during the exchange of Aussie dollars. Thankfully we realised quickly what had happened and when challenged our Australian money was returned to us immediately. So beware of the tempting exchange rate offered by the money changer with a laundry sign opposite Gloria Jeans Coffee shop in Poppies Lane 1. The name on the sign over the money changer shop is "A'ole Haole".

With so many massage options in Kuta, Bali- "Jennifer" spa in Poppies Lane 1 was competitively priced and we experienced great massages (and pedicure) But, at 60,000 rupiah for a full body one hour massage- be sure to tip the one who massaged you💝

Walking through here one year ago,the place was pumping with excitement, friendly people, and good bargains, recently returned to find it had changed so much, a lot of shops have shut down , the people are now trying fixed prices to get your bussiness, where you can shop just outside these areas and beat these sales.

I am trying to find out which of the poppies lanes has its end at the beach where there is a big building which has a KFC and upstairs a great dvd store. is it poppies lane 1 or 2?
Written October 19, 2016
Poppies 1 has KFC and the end of it also my favorite DVD shop is up some steep stairs right at the end of Poppies 1, nice glass front DVD shop with great aircon.. If you take a hard drive or USB stick they'll put the movies on for 6000rp per movie

I stay in Seminyak a lot but it's getting overpriced. Can you get good quality food around the area? About 12 years since I've eaten around there.

Prices vary depending on the restaurants. Most meals vary between 20,000rp and 75,000rp or $2 - $7.50 AUD, with some dishes being more expensive and up around the $13 AUD mark, but that is very rare.
Our family meals for 2 adults and 2 kids generally came in around $35 - $40 AUD for dinner and about $30 AUD for breakfast.
