A good branding material provokes a good impact on customer. I found out about Suma Spa from their brochure and I instantly loved the design. It was not like a typical spa brochure that I found everywhere in Bali. Personally it was more like a fashion spread in a magazine to me rather than spa brochure. The logo itself is amazing. As a Creative Director, I tend to drawn into anything that well-branded and well-packaged and Suma Spa has found my soft spot.

The spa is located on the top floor of Fontana Hotel. You have to take the road next to the hotel to find the entrance. Since I was riding a motorbike, it wasn't difficult for me to find a parking spot. If you're driving a car, you probably want to park your car in the hotel.

The entrance door is like a slab of light concrete that you can slide easily. Once I got in, I was greeted by the receptionist and she led me to the elevator to the top floor.

When the elevator door was opened, I found myself in a Japanese house compound in the middle of Bali. It was a bamboo parade. You can find bamboo in every corner of the spa. The whole design is like a static version of Shigeru Ban's design.

With all the bamboo all around me, I would love to see or hear any life form. Water, bird or fish would be a perfect addition to enhance the ambience.

As I arrived in the upper lobby, I was greeted by another therapist who served me a lavender cold towel and a cold ginger tea - which I really love - and they were kind enough to add my ginger tea when I asked them to.

There were so many options of treatments. I chose “Fountain of Energy” because it was include an Amethyst bath. It was too bad after I booked the treatment, the therapist told me they ran out of the amethyst stone and willing to change it with milk. I didn’t mind at all.

When the time comes to choose which scented oil and scrub cream I want, I chose Jasmine and Rose because I just love the smell among the other scent.

While I was waiting for my treatment, the therapist gave me inquiries regarding my body condition. Out of curiosity I asked her ”What is Suma anyway?” . It turns out; Suma is a name of flower that grows on rocks which can bring life into the surrounding areas. Suma Spa is the manifestation of the concept, a tranquil place in the middle of crowded Kuta. The whole Japanese-Zen-ambience is a way to evoke and drive the customers into Zen, the art of silence.

I nodded in understanding.

The therapist informed me that they were ready. I walked into a big room. The bamboo is covering almost the entire room including the ceiling. The room has one treatment table, one inviting bath, a wash basin, a comfortable couch and a shower. All of these are in place without any wall separation. When the therapist asked me to change, she has to leave the room because there was no privacy in the room.

The treatment started with foot bath with salt and warm water then continued with the massage. There is one thing I have never experience before. The therapist hit a chime bell and told me to focus so she could start to synchronize out energy. It turns out; Suma not only offers a physical treatment, but also a treatment for the soul as well. My treatment was started with a body scrub to clean my skin. After the scrub, I took a shower and I went back to the table to start the massage.

I couldn’t say anything much about the massage except I simply love it. The milk bath after the massage is just my favorite. I fell asleep in the bath tub. It was so comfortable and relaxing at the same time.

After the milk bath, when I’m about to take a shower, the therapist asked me not to because it will ruin the massage oil which a virgin coconut oil. She informed that the coconut oil will sink into my skin and will give a better result if I don’t wipe them with soap.

She was right. My skin fell smooth all night long.

After the treatment, I was given other inquiries regarding my treatment. They served me lime water, but I just can’t help to asked for another cold ginger tea.

If the Suma Spa objective is to drive the customer in to the deep of emptiness, I believe I was there.

It will be very challenging to find such a top notch spa experience with this price..
This is the best spa experience we have experienced so far in Indonesia.

Yatih & Putu are two very professional therapists and we could really feel the care and effort they put to make sure we get the best service.

We will be back...

Thanks Suma Spa..

I stayed recently at the Fontana Hotel with my family. I had been told about the $AU13 dollar, 1.5hr massage I could get in Legian, which I had on my first day in Bali. The next day I decided to have a massage at Suma Spa as they were having a special, $AU22 for 1 hour full body massage. Absolutely no comparison. I enjoyed massages there every day thereafter.
Suma Spa was superior in every way from a delicious tonic drink that is served as you are asked about what sort of massage you require (hard/soft) and which scented oil you prefer, the private rooms where you can definitely not hear people in the next room getting their treatments. The serenity, the cleanliness, the lovely, well qualified staff and ginger tea on completion. Truly blissful. I had 3 massages overall and they were all fantastic.
Don't bother ducking and weaving through the throngs of annoying hawkers to get to the cheaper massage places. You won't regret paying more to go to Suma Spa.

One among the top Spa experience I ever had. The room was big and very very comfortable with very nice and relaxing ambiance. The type of massage is very relaxing and the masseuse is very professional, always asking if you are comfortable enough with the kind of pressure she is using to massage you and will adjust according to your liking.
If you are checked-in the Fontana Hotel, Suma Spa is a must!

The session that I had was quite good in the very beginning and towards the end (facial session). The massage starts nicely, then the therapist might be a bit tired, so the pressure was a softer compare. But overall experience is quite good.

Anyway, the waiting area is hot in the afternoon.

its a very quite, high-end and comfortable place. you must reserve in advance, its not a place which take a group of traveler. you can choose the flavor of your oil in the beginning and if you come in couple you will have a couple room. The massage was tender and comfortable with a rose bath in the end. The environment, service and everything is impressive. T

Attached with Fontana Hotel Bali, a PHM Collection, you will need to get in via their main entrance as the access from the hotel lobby is like a maze runner, you will see a lift which there’s an indication of the Spa Floor.

Ambience , spa decoration and treatment room were nice with a combination of Japanese and Balinese Concept.

If you looking for spa treatment, go for it , its recommended as the service was good and the price is reasonable as well.

Tips: In house guest get special price , just mentioned your room number or else you will end up paying normal price which is slightly high.

This Spa was in our hotel the Fontana, we had looked at going to it but thought it was a bit expensive when looking on the menu in the hotel room, however on the very last day of our holiday the ladies from the Spa came around the pool with a special offer for massages etc which my wife and I booked straight away and had done around an hour later.
Very nice spa at the top of the hotel, nice calm place, we had back massages and then added the body scrub to it also, when that was finished we had a ginger tea which was something different.
Only one complaint which they request you remove your underwear and wear disposable ones they provide which are for a woman not a man. Not good.
If your staying near the hotel or in it I would recommend the spa, it is a much higher level than the ones in Kuta which appear a bit seedy. Maybe offering more than just massages.

I book the spa for 22.00 pm, just an hour before they closed, but they’re still wait for me patiently. They serve cold lemongrass drink that help me sooth my throat. The massage is good, the ambience is nice, the place is clean. At last, they offered me warm ginger drink. It’s a good way to complete my day.
