Overview - Join a cooking class with charming chef Maria in her home. Start off with a market tour before whipping up 5 classic Indonesian / Balinese dishes of your choosing. You'll even get her secret recipes so you can make them at home. Highlights- Local Market Tour in the Morning (100% non-touristy) Choose up to 5 dishes to make in one lesson Enjoy the authentic, local atmosphere of Maria's home Detailed recipes with photos included so you can make your favorite dishes at home! Flexible scheduling Description - While my classes are flexible and the start time can be tweaked upon request, if possible, I recommend starting our day at 8.30am with a market tour in the morning at the new Kuta market (Pasar Kuta Bahru, which is walking distance from my house), where you will get to see fresh produce and oogle at the offerings. I will explain the unique ingredients on sale. After the tour, we will return to my house where my class will cover 3 dishes of your choosing while Maria chooses 2 dishes. Just so you are able to replicate the results when you get home, I will give you detailed recipes and photos of the spices we use. Some of my most popular dishes include: - Beef Rendang (beef cooked in coconut milk and chilli paste) - Chicken Sate with Peanut Sauce - Nasi Goreng (fried rice) - Chicken Bumbu Bali (Spicy Chicken soup) - Gado-gado with peanut sauce - Fish pepes (Fish and spice, wrapped in banana leaf, then steamed) - Chicken Betutu I look forward to seeing you in my kitchen soon!

Had a memorable experience learning how to cook Indonesian cuisine from Maria. We booked her class a month ahead and got to choose 5 dishes out of 40 choices. Maria was on time picking us at our hotel. She's a very cheerful and friendly lady. Speaks pretty good English and very open to share with us on her stories and... More

This was one of the greatest experiences I have had in any of our visits to Bali! This amazing lady went above and beyond anything I could have expected! In the time from being picked up and returned to our accomodation, I experienced a visit to a local Market where Maria explained all the produce to me, then went on... More

Enjoyable morning with Marie who is clearly a knowledgable cook who knows Indonesian food very well. A few important things to note: - Her 'classes' are really a demonstration in a very small room. Not a class as expected. You don't make your own dishes, just assist in the preparing minor elements. - Price for two people was 1.2m INR... More

This was the most authentic Indonesia food we ate on our trip. Maria was awesome. She picked us up from our hotel and then gave us a quick tour of their market. Quick because their market is small. Then we went to her place. She was very well prepared. She gave us our recipes for the dishes we choose to... More

Maria was so welcoming...there were 3 of us in the group. I was picked up from hotel on time and then taken to the local kuta food markets. Then back to Marias home for our cooking experience. We went through each ingredient. She allowed us to pick 6 dishes from the recipe book she gave us. She layed out each... More

picked up from my hotel and then to the market for a look around. Then we went back and whipped up about 6 dishes between the 4 of us. All from scratch. Need to take a camera as she shows quantities and you need to photograph them to get an idea. Was given a copy of all the recipes to... More

Maria took us to the local market and then to her home. She has an amazing cooking book written by her own hand and with pictures, which is a treasure of old grandmas recipes, that you can photograph of course. She was so generous and kind, telling us all the little secrets to succeed in the Indonesian kitchen and she... More

I would highly recommend Maria's cooking class. Maria is a lovely friendly lady and her cooking class was the cheapest in bali. She came and picked us up at the hotel and from there we went to the local market where she what different vegetables and spices were used for. We then went back to Maria's place where she showed... We wanted to do a cooking class in Bali, and this one did not disappoint. The group size was small, only 4 people including me, which meant we received individual attention. A market tour was included prior to commencement of the class, with information on local fresh produce. We were each allowed to choose one dish each, from the 20... More

We thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class by Maria. She's an awesome cook and teacher. The cooking class is kept small, maximum of 6. Do allow time for this class, mine was from 9am to about 2pm. For someone like me who does not cook, I find the pace really good. Maria was clear in explaining step-by-step instructions from preparing the... More
