- kazzahotpinkSydney, Australia1 contributionNot pleasantMy sunset beach experience in Kuta was completely ruined by the local sellers. I had 3 women harassing me to buy buy buy… I gave in & had my nails painted, the lady was angry at the mere $5 I paid her (50,000RP) I reminded her I didn’t want it done. During the painting of nails, I tried to enjoy my drink, I was pushing one lady off me trying to massage my shoulders & another knelt down beside me ‘tapping’ me the whole time asking me to decide what I wanted to buy. I left annoyed & didn’t buy anything, she was asking very high prices. Didn’t see the sunset & will avoid the beach from now on. As for the street stores, owners have become more pushy & yes prices have had to increase. I wanted to shop more but found it exhausting this time.Traveled with friendsWritten August 12, 2022
- AdelaideFamilyof5Reynella, Australia1,482 contributionsSunset is still a great way to end the dayTo be able to just relax with family and friends as the day ends is one of the reasons we love coming to the beach. We parked ourselves (6 of us) at Bar 7, Randit Bar. Much has changed since COVID. Many have lost their space and they are trying to re-build. Everyone seemed so grateful to have us back visiting. Randit provided great service and while we would have not previously paid for a massage on the beach, we just did. It was more expensive that going into a massage place but they have had it tough and we only just arrived. It was a lovely sunset and we had fun to end our 1st night back in Bali. There are comments regarding the rubbish.....we would like to say that compared to our last visit 3 years ago, we have noticed less rubbish and more bins available. We shall be back :)Written November 10, 2022
- aminski8327 contributionsAverage beach, certainly not the best in BaliKuta Beach was one of the nicest beaches in the past, but anno 2020 it is really not more than an average beach. Where the sunset is beautiful to watch here, the beach is packed with plastic, every 2 minutes or so you will get bothered by a salesman, which can be really annoying, the sea/ocean is very rough so you can forget a relax swim. Every 10 seconds there are medium high waves coming your way. There are a lot of better alternatives for this beach in Bali.Traveled as a coupleWritten January 9, 2020

The beach itself is fine, it’s the street and beach vendors that are swamping tourists constantly that’s spoiling it.
There is building with diggers and teams of labourers building right up to the water. There is nowhere to sit on the beach as the beach vendors have put plastic chairs and umbrellas on every available piece of sand.
If you walk further up the beach, there is space once you go past legion but you will still be surrounded by sellers who won’t leave you alone.
The islanders have had a rough time during covid and so now, competition is fierce. I have noticed that the level of intrusion has increased over the years, with vendors blocking your way and sticking their arm out so you can’t pass and guys who are coordinating their team of street vendors are getting aggressive with locals who don’t pounce on every tourist that walks past.
My concern is that, if no one mitigates the amount of harassment tourists get, this behaviour will destroy the very tourism they want to promote.

Hussle of Bali and what you can expect . Kuta waves and beers watching everyone go pass for a few hours is great . Teenagers love it and surfboards are around $5 an hour to hire . Been heaps over the years and won’t be my last time coming back .

If you are killing time in the city I suppose it is a nice spot to wander around for a little while. But other than that, why bother? The beach has a lot of garbage, and you can't really sit down without paying a vendor for his plastic chair.
Surfers seem to like it, at least.

been here many times, especially if stay in kuta area, certainty will come here .i love its entrance,it is called candi bentar, you can see this at many Balinese temple.i stayed around legian in June this year, after two years, kuta beach less crowded, but still busy, full of energy. you can see people doing many activities here, like surfing, drinking beer, eating local food, sunbathing, doing massage, daydreaming .that time i walked from legian beach untill here, the sky already dark, after taking some pics of the candi bentar,i said good bye to kuta beach.i will come back again, and hope i can learn surfing here, also want to do sunbathing here, relaxing on the sunbed, drinking, eating ,waiting for the beautiful sunset.all have not yet tried, must be a nice experience.hope wont wait too long.

Kuta Beach is very hectic. I used to have a long stroll here. Nice for people watching.
It is crowded with tourists, there are those who just want to sit and drink all day long.
I did find the beach was relatively clean, there were people enjoying the surf or just messing around in the water.
I preferred to walk and go to another more quieter part of beach near our hotel.
It is another good beach to watch the sunset.

All I have to say it is appalling - horrendous and dirty. There is so much rubbish coming in and no one really bothers to clean it. After hearing how nice this beach was, thought I’d book but now I regret it. Throughout the whole stretch along the beach was full of rubbish.

I come to Bali a lot and other than going to Waterbom this area is best if you avoid it. The beaches are not great, garbage, lots of people trying to get you to buy stuff. It isn't a relaxing Bali spot.

A good beach to surf and to observe the sun set. Be aware, a lot of street vendors might harass you (be firm and they leave you alone).
A good beach to surf, avoid the teacher o the beach, go rent your gear from the streets a bit fare (cheaper).

Pleasant surprise! Golden sand, very clean, the waves are not too high, so you can actually swim in between the big waves, but also high enough for beginners in surfing.
Sunbeds are available, but you need to pay by hour (unlike Canggu, where the same amount of money would reserve you a sunbed for a whole day).
The most disturbing thing though was that there are too many people trying to sell you something, it was really annoying sometimes.

Usually in rainy season (Dec/Jan/Feb) I would tell you to skip kuta/legian/seminyak beach. With the rains and the currents all sorts of rubbish is pushed from the sea and farther inland to the beachfronts and despite all of the local efforts it is not enough to clean the mountains of rubbish washed there every day.
But this January 2020, the rainy season is late and hasn’t quite started yet, so the beaches are looking as magnificent as it is possible for an asian country.
The sunsets are always awesome and the popular beach attracts loads of locals and other “local” Indonesian/Asians country guests that lap up the atmosphere and are particularly jolly (without alcohol) and often want to have pictures taken with friendly looking tourists particularly families with children.
We walk along the beach even if when there is rubbish there but it is infinitely more pleasant when its clean(ish).

Hi
We were there in October 2022. The majority of the construction work is towards Waterbom Park from the end of the beach.
While on the beach, we heard no noise at all. I certainly wouldn't let the work that is going on stop you from going there.

I don't think it's possible to see sunset from Hard Rock, but Pantai Kuta it's only few meters from there, it's exactly across the Hard rock cafe. the sunset is definitely is able to be seen from pantai Kuta.
If you need any more recommendations for the best place to enjoy the sunset , you can download Radius App (Available on app store and google play) Bali's no 1 app for everything you need in bali from reccommendations on where to go and eat to massages, drivers even alcohol delivery. Have a great holiday in BAli :)

We are travelling with a young kid (3 plus year old). Is the beach safe for taking a dip in the sea? I have heard about string waves and undercurrents ! Also is the beach clean in the morning? When do the staff clean the beach generally?

Many kids on beach, life guards on duty between red signs. Do supervise your babes, waves are strong and not suitable for 3 year old to get caught in. But getting into water at waters edge is great. But, please supervise!!!!! Don‘t forget Kuta Beach at Sunset, take babes. You‘ll all have fun. Supervise the little ones. You‘ll see. I am going later this afternoon.

It isn't difficult to plan. Just go. I recommend UBUD. If you plan 100 a day you should be ok.
