    Discovered Beach
Doscovery Mall Bali is really a big mall. But I think the pandemic makes them into trouble since when I went there in pandemic, the mall is so quiet. Many tenants are closed and this situation makes the mall is darker. But the main attraction for me is not the building, but the beach! Yeay! Discovery has a long beach walk in their behind. The panoramic is so good to stay there enjoying the sunset. Buy some snacks and enjoying the view, that’s enough for me to enjoy the Discovery.

    Tenants are returning
Much improved since our visit in August 2022, a n umber of previous tenants have reopened and new tenants introduced. Mata Hari occupies the 1st Floor, an expansive floor space and with a very good range of merchandise and staff that were happy to proffer and offer assistance when required. If Mata Hari doesn't cater for your needs, try SOGO on ther Ground Floor or any of the other outlets that have reopened and restocked. Still a work in progress, but the premises are brighter and less cluttered than pre Covid. Still a few more dining venues required.

    Getting Busy again.
The Mall continues to be repopulated with new tenancies and improvements to existing. Hoardings advertise the names of businesses that will shortly open and work goes on behind in preparation. More dining establishments have reopened their doors and offer good variety. Great bakery selection. Beachside, renovations and improvements are largely complete, just finishing touches required. The increased volume of pedestrian traffic and shoppers is very evident throughout the complex.

    Slowly coming back
Like everyone else, recovering from the effects of Covid however their resilience is legendary. I understand a new section of the mall was either under construction or opened around the global lockdown. It seems to be the last section to be populated and being an upper end mall I guess slower to progress. Having said all of the above, some good deals to be had among some of the stores.

    The NEW Discovery mall-so,so.
This mall has changed a lot since before COVID. There used to be big hall full of Bali souvenirs, clothes and handicrafts that is now gone. We were primarily interested in clothes and souvenirs so we did not explore much. The main floor is upscale shops. The mezzanine is smaller clothing shops and a smattering of souvenirs. We asked around and were directed to the bottom floor. I forget the name, but this is a big mid range department store. Go down the escalator and go to the far left hand corner of the store. There you will find a really good assortment of quality Bali handicrafts at surprisingly reasonable prices (fixed). Not all the usual ticky tacky stuff of many shops. You can exit directly to the street through the glass doors to the right of this area.

    Still getting back to normal.
Visited with another couple from the ship. We headed to Matahari and SOGO, they visited SOGO and M & S. Everyone happy with their purchases, I left them to have a look elsewhere in the complex and check if anything new since our previous visit. More new outlets and others still being outfitted, and I enjoyed an ice cream from ColdStone Creamery.

    Nice Mall
Improving after pandemic. Good to find Matahari here after sadly seeing its abandoned shell in Kuta Square. Better value shops than pristine expensive Beachwalk complex. Amazed to see locals playing basketball on court at rear beach entry .. in blazing heat and sliding around on the sandy hard court.

Mall is very nice. Beach outside of it, not so much."
The Discovery Mall was very nice, with a variety of places to shop and eat. The bakery Bread Shop was excellent. And buy a few Emina Magic Potion lip tints in the colors you like at the Walgreens-like store in the mall. I fell in love with the ONE I bought, for around $3. Yeah, Amazon sells them, for about $12 and $10 in shipping. This shows a lack of prep on my part, but the beach outside the mall was disappointing. Do your research to find a nice beach, especially if your time is limited.

Most modern mall in the Bali tourist district by far. High levels of security on the perimeter which was reassuring, with a variety of both local and international brands inside. It was comforting to see Western food brands such as KFC, Starbucks, Burger King and many other great food options. We never ended up going to these restaurants but it was nice to know that they were there in case we felt homesick or tired from Indonesia/Balinese food. We did however, buy gelato from Haagen Daas as it's not available in Australia (except in packaged form). In terms of the shopping itself, would recommend against buying anything from Western brands such as Forever New, Lancome etc. as the prices are at best on par with back at home. Look out instead for great sales, especially from Polo, which is huge here and unique local items and produce (we loved the dried jackfruit).

If you are driving to this shopping mall be prepared to wait longer time in Traffic heading towards Kuta from other towns. There are many stores which sell all kind of stuffs such as clothing and other related products. At the back of the malls there are beach side restaurants and beach club which is a great place to relax especially in early evening. One can enjoy watching the waves and hear the sound of the crushing waves. When weather allows a beautiful sunset can also be observed.

Visited this mall as it was close to my hotel during my stay in Bali. Numerous food take away and fast food options like Burger King, Pizza Hut, A & W etc but all so wholly overpriced and expensive compared to South Africa. Also this mall has no Real Supermarket. You will do much better off visiting Lippo Mall or Matahari mall which is a 700 metres away. Also there souvenirs are way too expensive, do yourself a favour by visiting Kuta art market rather.

Had issue today at this mall with the security that checked our car when we came in. He asked something about our belonging in the baggage part that is supposed to be not his right to say that kinda thing. Its already against privacy. I placed a complain at sogo customer service since i was in hurry to buy a daily soap at mark and spenser that i always purchased our daily needs even when the building closed we still do it online shopping from this shop. Then i asked the CS to call whoever that incharge from DSM to handle our complain and came this guy name yogi and the security that is very rude with high open eyes not even solving the problem but gave me that anger look back made me angry then he pointed finger infront of my face and saying that i made other visitor unconvertable. Common guys!! Be professional. Iam the one that supposed to get my problem solved not even sorry from you? Are you that proud to be such the most quite “that u call mall” until you have to treat the loyal customer like that? If i couldnt get in touch from the management level regarding my issue i will definetely will tell all medias about my experience i got today!

I know it is due to the pandemic, but it is sad to see the mall losing its shine. Most of the shops closed down including Centro department store. Sogo and Sephora are still there, but I did not see much people. Starbucks which used to be crowded was empty. I can see tourists are coming back and it is still quieter than its off peak season of pre pandemic era.

We had been planning our shopping trip to Discovery Mall, as over the many years visiting we had always found what we didn't want, and bought it anyway.
This week we attempted our first entry but unfortunately the shops don't open until 12 noon.
A few days later off we set on our trusty scooter to have an afternoon of shopping.
We drove into the undercroft parking parked our scooter and headed for the entry. They are still asking people to wear masks and do a temperature check, oh that's fine. 'Do you have your vaccination certificate's asked the burly doorman. Well no, as tourists we can't get into your country without being vaccinated. Sorry you cannot enter.
The only people making money at the discovery mall is the parking company they got our AUD $00.20 cents and off we went, very disappointed with the outcome.
Bali is crying for tourists to visit but refuse them entry into the shopping mall.....no wonder they are a third world country. 🙄

This is very old and not well managed mall thus you can't expect convenience or lavish mall. However behind the mall there are some nice clubs such as Board Walk Club. The club has nice view, and good food, a great place for relax.
