My wife found out that there would be a turtle release on that day and so we went to this rather small center in Kuta, fairly easy to find. There was already a long queue but it moved fairly fast. One has to donate to be able to release a turtle and there is a limited number of baby turtles for release, so if you come too late tough luck.
Once they are ready there is an announcement by the center of how the procedure is and then everyone gets their baby turtle for release. An army of people then goes down to the beach, lines up with the turtle and then upon command releases the turtle, which will crawl into the sea. So this whole process takes a while, so plan at least 1-2 hours for this.
It is a unique experience for young and old.

We were here just before sunset during a weekday and the door was open to the society and we were told there were some baby turtles! We saw them inside a bucket all hatched, they were so adorable! We could see them quickly for free.

This was on my bucket list to do & i felt like they were very appreciative that people were supporting the turtles. The guy kept thanking everyone for being here and was is good spirits. I would definitely recommend this place to release turtles as you can tell that they look after them. I would say to get there hour earlier then the release as people cue for a while and you want to guarantee your place. Its free of charge but you can make a donation

This is place is terrible, all they care about is the donations from people, they just want money, theres no education centre, theres no information on what they are doing nothing. We queued up about 45 minutes before the time thinking it would open soon and we could go inside to see what work they were doing. But it’s nothing like that. There’s absolutely no organisation there we were just given a ticket and told to come back later, but we stayed to see what was happening and what we seen horrified us. They only had about 100 turtles to release that day but as there was about another 150 people in the queue rather than saying sorry no more a couple of the men went into the big turtle where the eggs are buried and started digging them up out of the sand!! Some of these small turtles were being dug up some still in their shells just so they could get more money off people. It was really horrible to witness.
Please don’t go here go to Turtle Conservation and Education Centre in Serangan, Denpasar there they have a proper education centre and you can see what conservation work they are actually doing.

We came here thinking we were helping turtles. What awaited us was mass processing - hundreds of people in a very small space, who first had to queue up for a so-called token, and then later had to join another crowd to get a baby turtle. The worst thing of all, however, was the 'storage' of the little turtles. They were stored in large numbers in small plastic containers with only a little water. In our opinion, this has nothing to do with animal welfare. We would advise against a trip here.

Our favourite experience in Bali. Was an incredible end to a day in Kuta. Worth the trip hands down. They started giving tokens at 4:15pm, and we released at 4:45pm. Announced the release was happening on Instagram or by the front of their centre. Very organised. Donations are welcomed (most of us put in 50K rupiah).

Amazing once in a life time experience. Staff were super friendly and enthusiastic, the experience was well organised and easy to navigate.
The staff were informative about the conservation and how they help the species on Kuta beach. Emphasised there passion when finding out it was a non profitable organisation encouraging us to be generous when donating to the turtles.
We were so lucky to be able to do this as from what they were saying on some turtle releases they have over 600 people turn up!
If you are in kuta make sure to check out these guys ocial media to see if you have a chance to go! You won’t regret it!

Such an amazing experience!! Make sure to get there early to get a token for a baby turtle. I was there an hour earlier and was one of the first ones. In July and August there are hatches almost every day, but they obviously only know when the next hatch is that same day the turtles hatch. this is why they can only tell you on the same day that there’s gonna be a release. they will post it on their FB and instagram! If you’re in Bali, DO IT!

Had an amazing time!!! There were so many turtle types that we got to feed, and pet and hold and had an amazing time with. There was other animals too such as toucans and luwaks. Approximately 50% of the money goes towards the animals too

Did the baby turtle release last week - was a genuine highlight of our trip.
If you are keen to do it just monitor the Turtle Society facebook page on any given day and if there is a release planned they'll advise that morning - usually happens about 4.30pm but as others have suggested, try and get there earlier.
It is free but please donate - these people are heroes and the money will surely help.

Hi Grace, sorry I am a bit late. Hope you visited the turtles conservation and adopted turtle babies. The place is open on all days from 9am to 6pm. Riley turtle population has been declining rapidly due to locals grabbing the eggs and eating turtle meat. Though this conservation is doing a great job, turtle poachers are not punished enough to prevent their actions. If caught red-handed also, the penalty is a slap on the wrist. The Government should do much more to stop people killing the adults and the eggs. But it costs a lot to do this. Our help is very little, it gave us a great feeling to adopt for a small donation. They are not able to tag them any more as it is very expensive.

Hola. It is about a 15 minute walk. It is on the beach front, where the security and life guards are.
