What an outstanding & unique venture! Teaching, learning, hands on, emotion provoking experience. I wasn't sure what to expect, but thoroughly enjoyed hearing from the well trained, informative staff provide facts and details about the ingredients used in perfume.
Plenty of time allocation to think about which smells work best for you resulting in a one off, original personalised named, boxed perfume. Both my son and daughter and husband loved the experience. We're all excited to wear our individual, distinctive fragrances! Just a remarkable memory for the family. Thank you Nora!

Bali in a Bottle is an extraordinary perfume.
I love the scent; it is now one of my wife's favorites. Long-lasting and a tiny spray is all that is needed. They have a pure essential oil which only contains 10 ml, but I can assure you that it lasts forever -- a fantastic bargain.
At present they are out of stock but if you are in Seminyak the Oberoi Boutique has stock.

L’Atelier Perfumes made us welcome and comfortable, explained the process for making our bespoke perfumes.
Such a privilege to make our own perfumes which are to our taste and labelled with our choice of names.
The staff were obliging and friendly and was a highlight of our visit to Indonesia.

What a fun experience. Girls on holiday in Bali, and we wanted to try perfume making. The staff were so lovely and knowledgeable, guiding us through the whole process so we were able to make our own personal scent. The staff explained the science behind perfume making, and helped us make three versions of our preferred scent (some deeper, some lighter). The scent we liked the most was made up into a larger bottle, and we were able to take all of our made scents home with us. Will most definitely be recommending L'Atelier to my friends and family.

I did the 3 hour workshop with a friend and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very informative and Nora and her assistant could not have been nicer. There was only my friend and I for the theory part and then we were joined by another 4 students (one was a guy) for the creative part, making your own signature scent. We had a great time and a lot of laughs along the way. We all produced a scent that we thought reflected our personalities and were pleasantly surprised to not have produced something that smelled like industrial cleaner. Nora is attentive and will guide you if you need help. The hardest part was naming our new scent and some of the initial names were a laugh. We all took away something we were proud to have created and can't wait to use (you have to leave it for 3 weeks). Should you require more of your scent a quick email to Nora will have her producing another batch. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is interested in perfumes/aromatherapy. Gentlemen, if you want to score brownie points with your significant other book both of you on this course, you never know you just might create the cologne she can't resist.

Dear Guest, I truly appreciate your nice comments about our workshop. We still remember this workshop as our highlight of this month we had as much fun as you did. Thank you once again for taking the time to share your experience. I hope that we will have the pleasure to welcome you back to L’Atelier Parfums et Créations in the near future. Kind regards, Nora and team.

I booked this course for my aunty, who is 60 in August. She LOVES perfume! Her sister, my other aunty, her friend and my sister was part of our group and from the moment they drove up the Ayana resorts driveway they were ooo-ing and ahh-ing. Fabulous setting for it.
We had our 90 minute course booked for 3pm, we had to walk through the Ayana lobby, down toward the pool, toward the right as if going to the Rock Bar. Theres a group of little resort stand-alone shops and the course takes place in one of them.
They were ready for us. We all take a seat at an 'organ' that has a variety of essential oils placed on little shelves that make up the 'organ'. We all have an assistant each. We start by doing a questionnaire to determine our favourite scent. We get to keep the three progressive blends, then they make up our signature scent for us to take home. We had so much fun. They keep all your details for re-ordering if you really like it.
The line for Rock Bar was still too long, but we. Had a drink by the pool then went back to Kuta.
Cost us Rp 300,000 for the 5 of us to go out there, well worth it.

Wow. What a great experience. Thank you to Nora and Miss Wati for their time and expertise. Loved, loved, loved this experience. My 5 year old daughter and I took this class on Sunday and it was something that I will cherish and has been my 2nd most favourite Bali experience to date (doubt that anything can ever beat WS Art Studio in Ubud).

For my daughter Ari, she got to make her own perfume with the complete attentiveness of her teacher, Ms Wati. My girl is rather enamoured with teachers and Ms Wati 'taught' her in a way that was a school class, completely appropriate to the child she was placed with. Ari felt so proud of herself and learnt so much. As did I...... Loved it, loved it, loved it.

For me, I found it absolutely fascinating that the other woman in the class chose fragrances that were so different to my own, I found her blend bleh (and she no doubt found mine the same). As other reviewers have indicated, you answer a questionnaire to narrow down what kind of 'notes' would be most suitable, but you are not limited to those. You sit in front of a number of fragrances and smell and then choose the ones that you like - top, middle and base notes. Then you develop your own 'formula' of those fragrances and can adjust a couple of times.

Ari ended up choosing strawberry and bubblegum flavours, quite nice and easy for her. I I had a bit more trouble but Ms Nora was great in helping me. A slight adjustment made a massive difference. I ended up buying both version 2 and 3, but there was absolutely no pressure to do so - I had to request specifically.

You can't use your perfume for a couple of weeks as it needs time to blend. While I am ok with this, would have liked something for my daughter to have been able to use straight away. Opportunity here for this place! I am the kind of customer who likes to buy, buy, buy and not much opportunity to purchase anything other than just the perfume made.

Also, I felt internal pressure to get my formula right in 3 goes. I say I internal pressure as there was no pushiness re time from Nora. Would have liked a 'go for it' option where I could spend more time and get many different variations. Would have paid extra.

Wish that we were staying closer to this resort, would go back this trip.

If you are into perfumes then this place should be definitely on your bucket list. Little bit far from Kuta/Legian/Seminyak region but in a Blue Bird cab one can reach Ayana Resort in 35 minutes.

My boyfriend and I went to Ayana Resort in Jimbaran for this perfume workshop during our stay in Bali. We each had our own assistant to help us create our scent. It's a small place but the lesson was nice and private, just us and our assistants. We filled out a survey to get a starting point for the notes we might like best. I proceeded to smell them all anyways, but the suggestions were pretty dead on. I just added more notes as well. We did the 90 min workshop, but took a little longer and they gave us extra time no problem. It took us about 2 hours in total, but I was really taking my time and enjoying the experience. It was so interesting and fun to do. We learned about each essence and where they come from. They showed us examples of plants and substances that the essences are derived from. It's really cool that all of these essences come from Bali and other parts of Indonesia. We both just love the perfumes that we created. Mine is like a blend of all of my favourite perfumes ever. It smells as good, if not better, than my 300 USD perfumes, and for an extra 150 000 IDR we upgraded to a 60ml bottle to bring home each instead of the 30ml included in the price of the workshop. We walked around Ayana Resort afterwards (so gorgeous) and had a delicious meal at one of their restaurants. One of the highlights of our trip!
