Visited here on way to Tanah Lot, we were greeted by a very pleasant and knowledgeable guide who explained the entire process of Luwak coffee. The taste of regular tea makes me heave but theirs is next level, we left with a huge packet of red ginger tea, turmeric tea, kopi luwak coffee and coconut cream coffee. Spent a small fortune on what is basically tea and coffee but it was worth every penny. When we go back to Bali i will be refilling my cupboards.

A lovely experience and very informative. Had a lovely cuddle with a Lewak , just like a cat really. The staff are lovely and hospitable and lots of fun. My teenage grandaugter had a blast on the swing. Well worth a visit, a beautiful quaint peaceful place in lush gardens.

We visted the beautiful gardens Sari Amerta Jala Raya, Tanah Lot. The visit was interesting and the people were absolutely charming and we tasted different types of coffee including the greatly overpriced Kopi Luwak. But it was heartbreaking to see civets kept in tiny cages like ornaments ! The guide told us that they let them out to roam the gardens at night but that was a lie. Upon my return to France I looked up some more information about Luwak Coffee and learned the horrendous truth about its production from PETA. Civets are kept in battery farms and force-fed with coffee beans. It's as cruel and disgusting as foie gras production.
The only way to stop this cruel trade is to boycott these places. It's a pity because the other drinks on offer (turmeric tea, ginger coffee, ginseng coffee etc.) were excellent and the gardens were lovely. They don't need to exploit animals to make money from tourism like that. I feel guilty about having tasted kopi luwak but it was offered as part of a safari tour, the rest of which was great. If I'd known before about how cruel this coffee production is I would never have agreed to visit the place.

I visited this place with my family as part of a bicycle tour. It’s interesting to see all the spice, fruit, and coffee trees, but then you come to the civet cats. These poor creatures are kept in bare cages and fed coffee beans to make a wildly expensive coffee. They are nocturnal and need somewhere dark to sleep during the day. Instead, they were madly pacing up and down on bare boards. It was depressing to see. Don’t contribute to this industry. Avoid the place.

Although the concept seemed interesting, I was so saddened by seeing the Luwak held hostage in a cage with absolutely nothing to keep him from going crazy! When asked how long he had been there, the tour guide replied 7 months! I asked how long they keep each Luwak before releasing them back into the wild....if they ever actually do is yet to be seen, she relied, at least a year. How sad. Force feed them coffee beans to collect their poop so humans can have the novelty of telling their friends they drank "poop" coffee. I could not support this. I feel this is cruelty to animals. If there were an option to post a picture, I would post the one I took of this poor animal locked in a cage. The "true" Luwak coffee is so expensive because the poop is collected from Luwaks in their natural habitat, which makes it harder to find and more rare. Not from Luwaks that are forced to eat coffee beans all day and kept locked in a cage. If you love all animals, please do not support this practice.

This was a confronting experience. Seeing the dreadful conditions in which the covers are kept outraged us and we left immediately. Do not go here.

This place is a trap.
We were approached as we parked on the street by a local who offered us parking by the entrance to one of the terrace walks if we followed him. Suspecting a catch we asked but he insisted he wasn’t a guide or selling anything just all about “good karma.”
After parking we tried to walk back toward the Main Street and he got mildly aggressive insisting we must use the terrace path if leaving our bike there.
As this was what we came to do we decided to follow him down the path, but instead of finding ourselves decending into the terraces we were actually in his coffee shop overlooking them.
The man insisted (very aggressively) we try some of his coffee for free before going for our walk which we did. After this he started insisting we buy some (it was very overpriced) and when we wouldn’t and stated we wanted to walk through the terraces he became angry and aggressively starting moving us out of his shop.
Was a nasty experiance which really put a damper on the terrace visit. We ended up driving 100m further up the road and going for a nice walk with a donation entry which was beautiful.

I was greeted by an older lady and she took me on a five minute tour. She offered four times for me to try the luwak coffee and was very aggressive. I explained I was going to purchase coffee afterwards. She sits and watches you sample the drinks and it’s quite uncomfortable. I went to the gift shop to purchase chocolates and coffee to bring back to Canada - I simply asked how much certain coffees were and she was quite rude and snappy. She said the prices are on the back of the package. I was startled how impatient and annoyed she was getting. Then she started talking about me with her staff. I was appalled! I walked right out. I would never recommend this place to anyone. The Luwaks are drugged and caged :( Be prepared to have to deal with angry and rude salespeople unless you buy there overpriced crap. Never again!!!!! What a waste of time!

This place is a tourist trap. They have a couple of animals in substandard cages when you enter and then they try to sell you some gross coffee and sugary tea.

Is there an entrance fee? Or do you only have to pay for the extra luwak coffee (IDR 50 000)?
Written December 19, 2018
It's totally free. if you want to taste the luwak coffee you have to pay. When you are tasting the free coffee/tea they offer you a page with the names where you can mark your favorite products, then they will invite you to visit the shop and buy some coffee/tea.

Hello. I want to visit this place, but when I search on google it says it’s located somewhere else. Is it situated the same place as it is here on tripadviser on the picture of the map?
Thank you
