We had a sad and scary moment the other day in our way to Gili. We hire the service from our hotel in Ubud, the shuttle picked us up and drove like crazy until the harbor. Once there I told them I wanted to pay one way only because I didn't wanted to come back to Ubud with them, because is to scary the way they drive.
Then the driver started pushing me, puling and grabbing me from the shirt and puting his fingers one cm from my eyes. Then his colleagues started helping him so they all try to push me inside their office. My girlfriend was really scared and she try to separate us and the guy started pushing and grabbing her. Only one couple of tourist helped us a little, but the rest just walked away.
They pushed me inside the office while my girlfriend stayed outside crying. They forced me to pay the round trip and told me that for something like that they will kill me in Lombok. The rest of the people who worked in the office were shouting to me in Indonesian and every time I looked at them they pointed their neck with the finger like saying "cut your throat".
Then they pushed us to the boat, and of course we didn't wanted to take it.
I started talking with a taxi driver and we jumped in his cab, he drove us to another harbor and we took a boat to another island.
I don't know if it's normal to physically assault men and woman like that in Bali. Normally I'd go to police, but they have a really bad reputation so the problem must turn against me in an even worst way.
I never had a group of people threatening my life before.

Any advices?

We wanted to go to Gili Air, so bought tickets from an agent at an office near Padangbai port. He knew that we wanted to go to Gili Air but sold us tickets to Gili Trawagan (Gili T) instead. He did not tell us that there were no boats to Gili Air and that you would have to pay extra for that service. When we arrived at Gili T, they kicked us off the boat and was very rude when we told them that we had bought tickets for Gili Air. We ended up paying an extra $30 for a small boat when it should have cost us only $9.
Upon leaving the island (the boat only comes once a day at 8:00 a.m) we had to pay an extra $9 before boarding. The boat trip was fine but the shuttle ride was awful. The shuttle was an old bus with no air conditioning and a door that could only be opened from the outside. The driver wanted extra money for the drop off (which I told him we would not do) and about 10 minutes into the ride, the driver stopped the bus and said that he was waiting for his boss. The boss arrived and told two girls on the bus to get off because their ticket did not include shuttle service. He then started to yell at the girls and one of the girls said that they would not get off; that the agent had written the destination on their ticket. I then intervened and said that nobody was going to get off the bus and that he was not going to leave the girls stranded in the middle of nowhere. More shouting ensued and finally he swore at the girls and left.
Here are some things to know if you want to go to the islands, especially Gili Air:
1. When you buy your ticket, make sure they write everything on the receipt too: destination, shuttle service and drop-off destination, transfers to islands, etc...
2. Get company, name and telephone number of ticket agents (take pictures if can of location)
3. Help other travellers. Bad things could happen to any of us. So if they see that we will stand up for each other, they won't think we can easily be scammed/ intimidated/ bullied.

Do not buy from this agent: name: Tawok, telephone number: 081 805 343 360

The boat showed up over an hour late. The captain looked dishevelled. The passengers who were disembarking looked drunk, we though perhaps they had been drinking on board, it turns out they were just traumatised.

We sailed on a very rough day, the boat swayed severely and waves were coming up over the top of the boat. Almost everyone was throwing up if not from the motion then from the overpowering smell of gasoline. The staff gave no safety advice in case of an emergency and there were multiple times when one of the engines failed.

We made it to Gili T alive so that's a plus point but other than that I can only say choose another company. The money you save is not worth the horrifying journey.

Thank you for taking the time to review Marina Srikandi and apologize for your experience. If seas are too rough to make the crossing, we will delay or cancel the voyage, but sometimes the ocean can be very unpredictable and our crew does the best they can in these situations. We apologize for the rough weather and our crew can certainly improve the way they communicate safety to passengers and the way they accommodate sea sick guests. We also apologize for the gasoline smell, which sometimes occurs during bad weather and is common on most gas-powered boat when seas are rough.

We paid in full for the "fast" boat from Bali to Lombok. We were told to be in the lobby of our hotel at 9am for pick up between 9 and 9:30. Despite many phone calls to them and assurances they were on their way they arrived at 11:15. The boat we had booked with them left at 11am. Eventually we boarded a boat at 1pm that was to take us directly to Lombok and take about 1 and a half hours. 3 hours later after stopping at three places along the way and waiting for other passengers to get off, luggage to be taken off, new passengers to get on and their luggage brought on board, we arrived in Sengiggi.....just over 7 hours to get there. Last time we made this same trip with a different boat company, similar price, it took 3 and a half hours.

The absolute worst experience ever. Booked return tickets and transfers with these guys. All fine until our return trip from Gili Trawangan. Meant to leave Gili Trawangan @8.30 as instructed, was even written on our ticket. Arrived to the marina at 08.10 to be told that the boat had already left at 8am and that our names weren't even on the list anyway as apparently we were meant to check in the night before. Which we were not instructed to do when we bought the tickets. So we booked ourselves in for 12pm boat. Which was 2hrs late! We didn't leave until 13.50 absolute joke. Picked up more people along the way, so many that there wasn't enough seats and people were standing everywhere. Arrived at our destination at 18.30!!! Was only meant to be 2.5/3hrs journey. Joke. Transfers were there thankfully and we gave our hotel address. 20 mins into the journey driver pulls over and tells us we have to pay extra if we want to get to our hotel! After paying 700,000 each already (about70 quid). We refused point blank to pay and had him ring his boss who I had a massive argument with over the phone but I refused to budge and he eventually told the driver to take us where we wanted. I told them I'd leave a bad review so here it is! AVOID at all costs is my advice but if you don't then at least ensure you don't let then scam you!!

Here our family with two small childrens story
Buy 4 return ticket for this fast boat from padang bai , bali to gili trawanga n , as 11am slot is already full travel agent told us to buy 6am pickup from bali hotel which we agree , reach horbour at 8am next day and it look like we reach a fish market no proper guidance there .we waited there for four hour and at 12 pm we wer told that police inspection team rejected fast to run in rough waters , at that time more than 150 passengers are waiting for there destination gili air and gili trawangan and all we can see one small boat , now we come to know that agencies selling tickets oversold overbook marina fast boat tickets.
Now the staff told us to shift to bigg ferry very slow boat as we dont have other option we 150+ people boarded the ferry which one side ticket to lambok island is 50000 indo money (4 US dollors ) only
After 6 hours we finally reach lambok island ,there three buses waiting for us , 2 hours driving in lambok we were all boarded to again two small boats At 9pm one goes to gili air other to gili trawangan . we all boarded from small seashores (not any harbour ) unofficially our life is no value for marina srikandi , if any mishappening happen at 10pm in between of sea we dont have any safety lifejackets only small fishing boat with three drivers holding torch . what came to my mind is how they are operating fishing boat to carry 75+ passengers without any safely jackets at 10pm as police rejected to going to sea at 12pm in the morning.
This all happening because marina dont want to refund money collected from 150+ passengers overbooked by them.
Finally 11pm we reach gili trawangan after 18 hours pickup from our hotel in bali
Next day 10am is return ticket to bali ,we family of 4 with 2 small childrens reach marina office in gili t at 9am and was told all the boat are already full ,we seen there agents selling ticket to bali in black double the actual price of one side boat trip , so in anger i shouted and they given us return boarding pass fast boat . they ride the boat so fast i started vomitting and our childrens almost fainted no ac. No open window in fast boat
Never ride with marina srikandi

This is the queston that was aggressively shouted at us by the manager of Marina Srikandi. We identified him as the manager when he thrust his "Marina Srikandi" tattoo into our faces and told us so...but we had already cottoned on to this after we had read on Trip Advisor that the manager bore a resemblance to Colonol Gidafi - and this man was somewhat of a doppelgänger. His temperament was, I imagine, similar to that of the Dictator, as we only requested that he confirm we would indeed be able to board the 10am boat that we had paid 600,000,000idr per person, one way. We had read on Trip Advisor not to trust the company but desparation forced our hand as there were no other operators with seats left and we had a hotel on Gili Air waiting for us. He said and I quote, "I only sell tickets for each seat I have, I am the manager and I say who goes in the boat. If you have a ticket you will be on the boat." He assured us that we would be able to board the 10am crossing, that would not be overcrowded and would be safe for travel (as there had been weather warnings). He was extremely unpleasant, aggressive and rude with no provocation. We bought our tickets and were taken by our taxi to a cafe on the sea front and told by a Marina Srikandi staff member to wait until 9.30 when he would come and get us. 9.40...we're still waiting. Thanks to the terrible reviews on Trip Advisor, we decided to head for the harbour and take our chance in the queues. We found a group of people who had also booked with Marina and about 2 minutes later our group was called. Thankfully we'd decided to go for it and not wait in the cafe. We were pushed and shoved but made it to the front of the queue just in time - the manager had told the truth! He seemingly did indeed manage to get us on a boat at the allotted time. I wonder if he'd also promised this to the 50+ Marina Srikandi ticket holders that were left on the harbour jetty though?
So due to our initiative, distrust of him and desperation to get to Gili...we made it! But I don't think the same can be said for everyone and I definitely would not travel with this company again.
This is a shame as the boat was not in a terrible condition and the staff on board were lovely.

Was the worse experience ever. An engine exploded on the way back to Bali. People started to panic and scream!
We went back to Gili and waited 4 hours for another boat. After this instead of Serangan they took us to Parangbay and just left us there. So rude with us when we wanted to ask for a transport. Never take it and more important don't put your life in danger!

Went out of amed to the Gilis a few days ago with this company that claims to be the best, safest, fastest, et etc. we made it about 3 min from the shore and the boat begin taking in water and everyone begin to panic. Needless to say the boat tipped over and sunk with us all on it, if it had not been close to the shore there would have been mass casualties as there was NO life jackets on board as well. Most all of us lost our luggage as well. This company should be shutdown immediately... Beware folks of these people.

Fast and efficient service and the travel from Bali to Gili was on time and without any hassle. Friendly and helpful staff and there was no problem to change the return date of the ticket when we decided to stay longer at Gili.
