As I read the reviews, I drove there extra via motorcycle to the remote village, just to find out that it is their local temple to pray.
Therefore their reaction was surprised and startled as I told them I'd like to take some pictures of the temple (which is actually very beautiful).
The whole situation was a bit odd, as the local villagers were staring at me and my wife while we were taking the pics.

We organised a car to take us around Denpasar for the day and our first stop was this temple. I recommend going to the museum next door first so you have a good idea of the background. Outside the temple we paid a small fee to the tour guides, equivalent of about £5 per person for a sarong and guided tour. The tour guide was incredibly friendly and knowledgable, happy to answer all of our questions and he took his time showing us around, the place was deserted so we could take our time. The only thing is that the temple isn't very big so you won't need more than 20 minutes there, but go to the museums next door to get the full experience. It is a beautiful temple.

I am so confused and suspect this is a scam. There is a cash box, a basket with sarongs and a guest book at the entry. It was my understanding that you make a donation to rent the sarong for your visit. When we walked up to the entry 2 locals who were sitting further up the road with a group of men called out at us. They then started to approach us and in very broken english tried to tell us there was a minimum donation of 20K per person. As there is no information or signage at the box, I was a bit suspicious of their motivation and they became very aggressive when I started to ask questions.
My wife had already picked up a sarong as we were about to make our donation when they approached. He snatched it from her and started to yell at her.
After a really nice day exploring the area, this experience was really confronting and my family felt very threatened by their behavior.
They had no identification and their aggressive behavior makes this feel very much like a scam. I would not recommend a visit to this temple, it’s not worth the hassle.

This was a really bad example of a temple. It isn't an old temple either, the guide told us it was built in 1958. From the moment they invited us in we may have well have just given them our wallet. We have been to several temples around Bali, have met some wonderful balinese, but this was not one of them. They wanted 50k rupiah entry, then tried to get us to buy pen drawings for 700K! we gave them 300k in the end because it isn't that much to us, and we just wanted to leave without being impolite. THEN when we left the guide told us we had to pay him (vaguely his words were: "i wont ask you for any money, but you should pay me for showing you the temple, but I wont ask for your money" yeh sure dude.) We gave him the last of our money which was 1500 rupiah. he got angry at us and we walked out, found a nice old man in a back alley as we were wandering around who told us were we could get a bus ride to Sanur for 4000 rupiah. At least we got out alive!

We had wanted to go to the museum but ended up being dropped off at the temple gate. We were two older women. There were 4 or 5 men. The main guide kept mentioning money. " some people give me $20 some $30" we didn't catch on at first then they demanded we bought up some drawings and also give him money. It was really quite frightening because they had " lent" the sarongs we scrambled back to the entry ripped off the sarongs with him yelling at us about what we owed him. I had a ten dollar (100,000R) which I shoved at him and he kept yelling it wasn't enough.I thought perhaps it was as we were woman on our own but see from other reports that's not the case. How can we report this disgusting behaviour. It left a nasty taste in our mouths!

When you entering this temple you will feel the religious atmosphere, there is a big courtyard and beautiful garden with frangipani. Most of people in Denpasar area will do a ceremony at this temple during Saraswati holiday. Beside this temple you will find museum Bali.

Temples are all over Bali and this one is nothing special, after 5 min we just left.
