I ended up being the only person who booked on the tour and it was a lovely solo/private experience with the guide! My guide - I think his name was Raysid? - was very knowledgeable and it was fun talking with him and hearing his stories of his time in Bali.
I came hungry but it wasn’t enough because I was so stuffed. You need to come starving in order to enjoy EVERYTHING because I skipped trying the large chicken satay in the night market area in order to save room for dessert. The food - freaking DELICIOUS from the fried banana on the street (not too greasy, not too sweet) all the way to the very end. I am still thinking about the chicken…some of the best chicken I’ve ever had and I’m not even exaggerating. I was able to take the rest back to the hotel to share with my parents, my mom ate half of it herself. And the chocolate cheese combination on the dessert…different combo, but it WORKS and now I will be doing that at home with my mochi/rice cake based desserts. This was such a unique experience of a food tour walking through the old town, trying out the good local spots and yapping with my guide, and walking through the bustling marketplace. Definitely will recommend this to my friends visiting and try out a chef’s tour in the other countries.
