Not make reservations with this company, They break their cancellation policy and refuse to refund
Apr 2020
Don`t make reservations with this company!!

We booked and paid a huge!! amount for a travel to Gili Trawangan and return this summer. We have now got a mail where they say that we will not get refund, even their cancellation rules are full refund within 48 hours cancel before arrival.

Not refund? It is money we have paid. And they are going to keep them and we can not use them or travel because of the Corona situation.

Hello Thea, We are working on solutions to the best of our abilities, and while we do understand it is frustrating for you that your holiday got cancelled please try to look at the global bigger picture here and realise that everybody is struggling with cashflow right now. As you will see from previous reviews on this site and others, Bluewater Express is often complimented for the way that we handle situations like this and we always attempt to be fair when it comes to refunds and cancellations. The fact is that these are not normal circumstances and expecting small companies such as ours to stick to their normal policies is unfortunately not realistic when multi billion dollar airlines are unable to do so even with substantial government bailouts. Many of our suppliers such as travel agents and hotels are withholding large payments from us meaning that we simply do not have the option to refund tickets at this time. The email that you received did not say that we are keeping the money, it said that we have offered you open tickets available for use until the end of 2021, considerably longer than the 12 months currently being offered by airlines. If this is not possible for you and you would still like a refund then we will of course do our best to get your refund in full but unfortunately the exact time frame for this is unclear at the moment.

Blue Water Express
Mar 2020
Having previously sailed from Nusa Penida to Bali on rough seas with a less than optimal boat experience, it felt great knowing that Blue Water Express is pretty much best in class when it comes to sailing to the Gilis and Lombok from Bali. The boat and crew were super professional and it was actually enjoyable to cross the strait. We were probably also lucky with the weather, but no matter what we're sure that we would have felt safe.

Didn't quite get there
Mar 2020 • Couples
I booked tickets a few months ago to go to Gili Air. Unfortunately the Corona Virus and travel bans have put an end to our trip. I emailed and explained the situation. We were booked to go to China and fly from there to Bali. Less than 48 hours later I had the email to say the refund had been paid. You can't get better service than that.

Worth of every penny

Clean boat, great service and AC. Highly recommend this transport company. It’s not the cheapest but if you want that your journey goes smoothly and you feel safe, you should use them instead of cheaper options. It’s worth of every penny. We were picked up from Canggu (outside the free zone) in time, there is a small restaurant at their office where you can eat and drink something while you wait boarding. Boat journey went smoothly to Gili Air and I felt safe.

The best way to go to Gili islands from Bali
Feb 2020
Good:
1. Airconditioned!
2. Organized, unlike other cheap carriers. They even briefed the passengers on safety and the features of the boat.
3. Free transfers, water and cold towel.

Bad:

Best way to get to the Gili’s
This was our second trip to Gili T. We’d used a different company previously - they’d bused us to Padang Bai, then hit the boat to the island. The trip was chaotic, directions unclear, and returning driver not interested in getting us back to accomodations.

So this time around we used Blue Water Express. The difference was remarkable.

We’d flown in overnight and stayed at a Grandma’s Hotel near the airport. 6:30am pickup was on time and we’re off! A few other pickups and were at the Blue Water Express office at Serangan. Check in is simple, then we breakfast at their cafe.

Their logistics are impressive - buses and vans arriving from all over, gear unloaded then moved down to the boat. We wait patiently and are called to board.

A short walk through a market to the dock and were are on board. A bottle of water is supplied, also a sea-sickness pill and a sweet.

The boat is not crowded and we settle down in air-conditioned comfort for the journey. We are a given an airline-like safety briefing on exits, etc.

An English subtitled movie starts as we leave the harbour. We sleep! The boat stops at Padang Bai for more pickups and then it’s off to Gili T.

Just prior to arrival we are given a warm towel to freshen up and then we disembark. The pier at Gili T is still unusable, so it’s down a short ladder to the beach. Accomodation is only 30m away! Yay!

Return trip was equally trouble free. Transport to our Sanur accomodation was good. Again, their logistics were impressive.

Great company, easy trip and would highly recommend. Communication (via email, SMS and WhatsApp) was fantastic.

You may find cheaper. You won’t find better.

The only boat i will use Bali to Gili
Feb 2020
Having lived and worked in Gili Trawangan for the last five years, it is safe to say that I have done many boat crossings Bali to Gili and return.

BlueWater Express is BY FAR the best company to use.

The entire experience is second to none.

The pick up service is great, they usually pick up only one or two groups per car which means you are not sitting in a bus picking up 12 other groups for an hour before going to the harbour which is common with other providers.

Their office is lovely with lots of seating and they offer nice coffee and food (the avo toast is amazing) so you can have some breakfast after the early start.

Their boats are comfortable, roomy and air-conditioned. They often have a movie playing and they give a real safety briefing (something I've never had with another provider). They hand out water bottles but ask you to leave the plastic on board so it can be recycled in Bali, but if you have your own bottle you can refill it in the office so you won't even need to take one. They also hand out mentor and cold towels.

They take all of your luggage down to be loaded on to the boat for you which is so so nice compared to many providers esp in Padang Bai where you're left standing on the jetty for an hour in the sun waiting for your boat.

They send whatsapp confirmation of booking and their office staff for check in are just great.

They may not be the cheapest but they are THE BEST. they are the only boat company i recommend. It is worth every cent more to use their service.

Surprisingly Everything that I hoped for
Feb 2020
I was a bit worried after reading reviews from many of the boat companies going to the Gili islands from Bali. My anxiety levels were high. The reviews for Blue Water Express were the best and I have to say I was not disappointed. I booked and was picked up in Sanur & taken to the take off point. I was headed to Gili Air which is the last stop. Got to watch a movie on the way (subtitles but that was fine) so I have now seen my first Fast & the Furious movie-go figure. It was a great trip and all of the many staff were lovely. I never felt unsafe at any point.
