It's nothing more than a pond, with some boats in it. Calling it a lake is totally misleading. The location is on the main highway from Dehradun to Mussoorie, 6 kms before main Mussoorie. I think the lake is formed by the dirty water that drains out of Mussoorie.
Lot of eateries around this place which serve snacks and cheap food. Some nice hotels around, but ultimately this does not give the feel of real hills.

Definitely a place which can be skipped. Nothing to do. You are going there with elderly people please avoid. They have zip-liner activity inside the part @ 350/head.

This is not a real lake and it is not worth the money or effort. Not sure why it is part of set tourism packages available in Mussoorie as the lake (which is actually the size of a very small pond, in scientific terms) is manmade and in the middle of a freaking dry and arid piece of land. We spent a lot of time in traffic to get to this "lake" only to be completely underwhelmed and deceived. The journey TO the lake, however, was much more pleasant than the lake itself. So I would suggest walking DOWN the 50 steps, but stopping right before the "lake", turning around, and walking back out. You will feel much happier for it.
Also, check out the 7-D theatre experience and please let me know what the other 4 D's are supposed to be for. IF you do make it down to the "lake".

Do not waste your time visiting this place. Very poorly maintained. There are much better places in Mussoorie that you should select to visit, definitely not the Mussoorie Lake.

Mussoorie is one of the most beautiful hill stations in the country. The advantage of visiting here is that it is quite beautiful and there are many other tourist destinations around it. Mussoorie is just 29 km from Dehradun. Haridwar is also on the way and Rishikesh is near it. Campati Lake is a very good tourist place near Mussoorie.
Mussoorie is called the queen of mountains. The evening of Mall Road will take you to a different world. On coming here, you can visit many places simultaneously. With comfort.

Just a small collection of water - nothing more. This can be seen while going to Mussoorie from Dehradun - few kms before. This is not more than a collection of water and timekiller for kids.
