Registration of yourself and your vehicle on website frivisitors.icfre.org early in morning as no. of tourists limit of the day may cross even at 10am. We took the help of staff sitting inside to register ourselves through mobile phone. Network speed may be slow at gate. So, register early. Payment is to be deposited on Trevor Road Gate / Shatabdi Dwar FRI. It is open Mon to Fri, 9:30am to 5:30pm. The main FRI complex and Museums are at the end, around 2km from Shatabdi Dwar entrance. FRI is a premier institution in the field of forestry research in India. Officers of Indian Forest Services are trained in Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA) situated in the campus of FRI. The campus is in over 450 hectares. Institute main building build in brick structure is in Greco Roman and Colonial architectural styles. The campus has lush green lawns with trees and flower plants. There are six museums to visit inside the main complex. A Botanical Garden is also there nearby. There may be ticket to enter the Museums. Cafeterias are there at main gate and in complex. A must visit place in Dehradun for all ages. Do not forget to take your camera. Morning walk is also allowed in the campus with some entry ticket.

Truly, a fascinating place!

It’s a wonder in Dehradun. Such is the magnetic charm of FRI campus. It’s stunningly beautiful, well landscaped, green environ with oodles of calmness!

The entire estate is quite expansive with hills standing tall in its backdrop. FRI building is colossal and magnificent in its colonial architecture. The campus has its own forest too, which is a habitat to leopards, and a canal, flowing through the estate in serpentine fashion. Century old trees and bamboo clusters are spread all over. The place is kept tidy and in natural state - clean air, clean estate with clear blue skies.

A must visit in Dehradun, and not to be missed at all!

Most Visited Tourist Attraction in Dehradun
Nov 2020
Forest Research Institute or FRI is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Dehradun. This place is not only visited by tourists but also by locals in dehradun. You can visit the various museums in the main central building. The FRI Campus does NOT have a good canteen to have food. Checkout the places to eat nearby for a treat of your tongue.

Shooting place of Dehradun
Jun 2019
FRI though a research institute but it is more special for shooting college scenes in movies and now a days for pre marriage photoshoot point. And why not, after all it has the nice building and the area is so well maintained. People of Dehradun comes here for morning walk by paying a nominal fee. The campus is so big, yet they maintained the greenery and cleanliness. Apart from the building and surrounding it has 6 museums related to forest & forest products.
