The perfect ghat to experience during a trip or stay in Varanasi. Arrive around 5pm to get a good spot by the Ganges to watch the aarti ‘ceremony of lights’ that starts around 7pm and finishes around 9pm. The perfect spot as sun sets and day turns into night.

We went for the early morning boat ride on the Ganges. The ghats look ethereal at this time of morning. We reached Assi ghat at 5. 15 am, saw the beautiful Ganga Aarti before we took the boat ride. We paid Rs 100 per person for the boat trip. Don’t pay more. If you wish you can also participate in the free well being and yoga session at the ghat.

Before dawn, Subah-e-Banaras is held at Assi Ghat. It is very interesting because, beyond the ceremony, it will give you the opportunity to see the sunrise from one of the main Gaths. The program includes a religious part "Ganga Aarti" which begins the day, followed by a session of traditional Indian music and ends with a yoga session led by a master, in which you can freely participate.

If the spiritual you is seeking affirmation few experiences come close to an Aarati. The ones at Assi Ghat are truly awesome. Less crowded than the ones at DasAshwamedha Ghat; the Assi Ghat Arati is more enjoyable in as much as you may feel a stronger connection if you are older and don’t seek solace in large crowds!! Truly a place to visit on your Benaras itinerary. Post the Arati stop off Aum Cafe for a non Indian bite. Quite popular with those who are craving bread, sandwiches pasta and pizza!!

Pl go for the morning Ganga Aarti at Assi Ghat - it is generally around 5.15 to 5.30 am. Its the most beautiful and blissful experience. The crowd is much lesser than the evening Aarti. Also, you get a nice close view of the Aarti. As the Aarti gets over, you can see the sunrise, its splendid. After the Aarti there is live traditional music. Post that there is yoga session. You should take the boat ride around that time, you will get to view the most mesmerizing view of the Ghat ! Post that there is a small cart fellow outside the ghat selling the most fresh and yummy Idly and dosa for breakfast!!

This Ghat is famous for its early morning Aarthi Hindu Ceremony in the early morning when the sun rises. The other one Ghat has this ceremony at sun set or when it becomes dark outside. The priests do the chanting or singing and offer various things to the Gods during the 25 minute ceremony. Took some pictures here and enjoyed the ceremony.

We stayed 5 minutes walk to this area. Aasi Ghat has a lot to see in terms of walking around the historical architectural buildings & Ganges River. Came here to see the Ganga Aarthi at night which was spectacular. Also came here one morning at 8AM to do some sandhyavandanam (part of upanayanam). The venue we attended by our religious group for several days was not more than a 2-3 min walk. You can walk to Tulsi Ghat if you’re an active person like me and like climbing stairs. Overall a majestic place.

Morning aarti happens at Assi Ghat (called Subah e Banaras). Can also do boating after aarti at Rs 50 per person. They bargain a lot for boating. I saw they also charged 200 bucks with someone. So be smart. It's a pleasure to see the morning sun rise at the aarti and boating
