Our guide walked us through the streets leading to the Ganga and we boarded a small boat rowed by a grinning young man. We were rowed down to the cremation area and back to the main ghat where we watched the priests perform their ritual to the Ganga ringing bells and movements of incense, flames and singing. The next morning... More

Better to have a visit in evening or early morning. Afternoon is very hot and very less public there.

This is the lifeblood of the city and has always been. The ghats, the temples, the city all sprung around it. If you have heard horror stories about its cleanliness, you will be pleasantly surprised!. A boat in the early morning is priceless!

What ever said and done unless you strongly believe a dip scares you But feel eternally cleansed with holy dip Burning bodies potential body parts touts and thugs scare you. But still the sanctity is undeniably great with the dip Ganga Arathi was great in evening. Boat ride on Ganges is worthwhile Don't pay more than 200 rupees per person... More

Had an amazing and soothing boating experience while boating in the River Ganges. Make sure to bargain as they initially bid exorbitant price but with good bargaining skills you can reduce them to half. Don't miss the Ganga Aarti in the evening..!!!

We participated in the evening prayer service on the Ganges as well as the sunrise ceremony the next day while visiting in Varanasi! This is a not to miss experience! Jaw dropping! I will never see anything quite like it again anywhere. One of the highlights of our trip to India.

We went to both sunset and dawn ceremonies, we went out in a rowing boat, this was probably the most amazing of all the amazing things we saw and did in India

A journey down the river Ganges in Kashi is a deep and reflective one! it opens up the truth and eternity of existence to the traveler most evocatively, while affirming the need for purity, faith and acceptance. To behold the vastness of the river and its beautiful humility in touching every ghat in its flow is awesome. A bath in... More

I'm not really a religious person but the Ganges River really touched my soul. There was a sense of solitude and calmness about the morning boat ride and in contrast, a sense of togetherness for the sunset ride. We experienced an early morning ride one day and a sunset ride another day which I think if you can do it,... More
