We were here with a guide for a short visit who explained the significance of this museum. This floor of this museum/temple shows the map/terrain of India - it is made of marble. Its like a marble relief map. It’s a national monument. The building is not well maintained - but still worth a short visit

It is a small temple, whose main attraction is a huge map of India carved in marble. It is known as the "Temple of Mother India". Unfortunately it shows a lack of maintenance in its construction so it looks neglected and alone.

Located in a little unasuming temple is a fantastiic "sculpture".. A map of the indian sub continent, to scale, made out of white marble.
It was constructed by the Babu Shiv Prasad Gupt and inaugurated by the Mahatma Gandhi in the year 1936.
It is not the run of the mill temples you see, the map is the "statue of mother india"
The Temple opens at 9.30 am and closes at 8.00 pm , and being a teplle, you still have to take your shoes off

Bharat Mata temple is located in the Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth campus near Varanasi Cant Railway Station. Very busy approach during the day, so better visited in morning hours.
This temple houses a marble idol of Bharat Mata along with a marble relief map of India engraved on a marble slab. This unique temple is dedicated to Mother India.
The temple was conceived and built by the nationalist Shiv Prasad Gupta in the year 1918. It was opened by Mahatma Gandhi. This is an only temple of its kind where every one is most welcome, in spite of cast creed and religion.

This is a small temple. The chief attraction is a privately built marble relief map of India. I do not think there is another like it anywhere in India. The details of the map which is built to scale are superb. One can feel how the landscape flows and rises across India. This is a very special map and deserves wider recognition.

Possibly the only one of its kind, this place is dedicated to Mother India. A beautiful piece of Art wherein you can actually see India as it would be visible from top. The secret to this place is a view hole from where you can see different area's of India as they are above the Mean Sea Level.

A favourite spot for the foreigners. It is a unique temple without any deity, but where our motherland (Bharat Maata) is idealized as the symbol of worship! Houses a huge stone-made bass releif map of India along its neighbours. A must Watch.

This is sort of a museum with one display. The display is the Indian sub continent.
The centre piece is on the floor of the temple.
It is map of the Indian Sub Continent.
It shows the mountain ranges.
The building is housed in a nice, big compound.
However, the building itself is not well maintained. Maybe, because very few people visit. I am not sure.
The building has two floors. The top floor acts as a gallery. But, it is closed for the visitors.

This temple is one out of two in the country. The 2nd one is in Haridwar. Every citizen if the country must pay a visit to see the expanse of the country at a time in history. It instills a feeling of pride in our history but melancholy in the present.
