VaranasiWalks is the oldest experience oriented eco-friendly walking tour...

VaranasiWalks is the oldest experience oriented eco-friendly walking tour and boat journey collective in Varanasi.

Since 2008 our Explorers have given an intimate look at the holy city of Varanasi and are able to show you places in the city that the average tourist could never find.

Our walks cater to those who want to see the layered interiors of the city and avoid the static silk shopping game. The boatrides include short walks and detailed history along with immersed experiences!

As a collective of residents of the city we are flexible and open to working with you to create a experience you will never forget.

VaranasiWalks was started by Jai while he was running a successful Hindu Studies & Hindi Language university program and working in the Social Service sector. Jai has been giving walks in Varanasi since 2004.

Me and my husband Tom took 'The Pilgrim's Riverside' tour with Amrit back in January and it was truly the highlight of our short 3-night stay in Varanasi. The day before our tour, we had wandered around some of the ghats and galis ourselves, marvelling at the strange and wonderful sights, smells, sounds and flavours - but to be honest,... More

Varanasi is a very spiritual city with great vitality. Our family of four adults spent three days exploring with Varanasi walks. Amrit was our guide....a charming and well informed young man. He was always happy to divert along the way if we required e.g. ...a barber... it was like going for a walk with a good friend. We went on... More

My husband and myself booked 5 walking tours spread over 3 days , including a couple of boat rides with Varanasi Walks. We have traveled extensively in India and are not afraid to roam around - but were aware that Varanasi is such an intricate city historically, spiritually and culturally that we wanted to get inside the heart of the... Hard to put into words what a magical and mystical time we spent with our guide Laotse. He picked us up from our hotel on Shivala Ghat at 5.30am where we walked to Assi Ghat and watched the morning rituals as the city starts to come awake. After this we took a boat along the Ganges and then back to... More

For every other city we visited in India, we relied on our trusty Lonely Planet guidebook. Varanasi is the place to put that away and rely instead on the expertise of the Varanasi Walks staff. We had very limited time--we were only in town for a day--and we waited far too long to request a walk, but Michael didn't want... More

We had such a great walk today with Pappu Tiwari. Informative, interesting ,different .We saw a lot ,far from the madding crowd. Pappu was able to give such interesting information and show us the regeneration and change that is happening for the good in Varanasi. It was inspiring to know that there is huge improvement in this town. Just what we wanted... More

Unquestionably, a real highlight of our time in Veranasi. Being in the city for almost nine days, we took advantage of two Veranasi Walks per day. Each was filled with a richness that allowed our entire group to feel special. Jai (owner) with Mahdu, Lio, and Michael presented the city, its people, its varied cultures, and its food in a... I visited Varanasi once before , three years ago with National Geographic , and was only here for a few days....my impressions of Varanasi then and now are 100% different ! We are a group of 10 , young to middle aged and a few seniors who spent ten days walking around with Jay , the owner of Varanasi Walks,... More

Great experience, was a little sceptical at first as our guides were originally westerners but they soon won us over. They knew absolutely anything we threw at them and more. Good humour, the boat ride and seeing the cremations was something I won't ever forget. Amazing experience. Thank you
