The time I spent there was as nothing short of MAGICAL.
Mr. Ravi himself is a accomplished tabla player who offers GENUINE guidance to the travellers on the art of Indian Classical Music. I know there are plenty music classes spread across the ghats of Varanasi but do check it out for yourself once.
I started my journey of learning tabla under his tutelage and started appreciating the Classical Music in it purest form. We are grateful for the patience shown to us when we started learning the tabla. 🙏🏻

It would be a pity to visit the ghats of Varanasi and not visit this gem of a place atleast once..... soak up the ancient vibe and just immerse yourself in this art form.

(I also took vocal, sitar and flute lessons from the excellent teachers here and have been HOOKED since.)

I have been a regular online student at the school since fall 2021. Ravi is a very communicative person and immediately arranged the lessons with my teacher each week. My sarangi teacher Anish is very skilled and patient, always teaches what I need at the moment so I have enough homework for the week. I hope to visit them some day in person. Overall very good music school with talented musicians and lots of love for the music.

We saw a pamphlet at the Assi Ghat for a two hour class of Understanding Classical Music as well as trying music instruments.

When we reached there, we started with Deep breaths and chanting to the music of Tanpura. We then learned about Ragas, and how each appeals to a different segment.

We then started learning Tabla, Sitar, Dholak, Flute. Of course it’s impossible to learn any of it but we got our basics in place for all of these. There were many other instruments to pick upon but we wanted to try these.

What I loved was that there was so much science to it all plus our teacher was the most patient given my husband and I are quite new and out of tune in most senses.

What we took back was a greater appreciation for Classical music, instruments and how rich culture.

While exploring Banaras this was an uncommon activity but this one stayed long after with us even when we came back. My love for the Flute has increased and now I just practice at home. Definitely meditative.

Next time in Vanarasi, give this two hours and you’ll come back as a changed person!

I had a music lesson from Ravi in February 2023. It was very informative. I learnt about the history of Indian music and the different genres as well some music theory which I was able to contrast and compare with my knowledge of western music. The lesson ended with playing on the tabla - which I thoroughly enjoyed being a drummer myself. I highly recommend Baba the School of Music.

For any musician who visits Varanasi, this place is wonderful starting point. Here you can get in contact with the true nature of the local music by a genuine and warm-hearted teacher. Do stop by and give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

Had a nice lesson on the sitar. These guys know what they do and gave us a fine introduction to the instruments. My friend played the tabla and in the end we even had a small jamsession. I would definitely recommend these guys

I spent some days in Varanasi and I met Ravi and his school for some harmonium lessons. I had a very good experience with him and his staff. I also buoght a drum that Ravi sent me to Italy in perfect condition and at a resonable price. Perfect, I suggest ! 🙏🏻

Hey there, If you want to learn how to play musical instruments you can go to Baba Music school, the mentor there Mr. Ravi Tripathi is a friend and we met because of a mutual interest in music. He is a nice person and loves music by his soul and will proove to a really excellent mentor for all those who want to learn playing them OR if want to learn more about music and how it works in general. They have most of the musical instruments such as Guitar, Sitar, Ektara, Ukulele, Tabla, Dhilak, Harmonium, Keyboard, etc. He himself is an excellent tabla player and have been to international assignments also, you may visit the Baba music on social media to find out more.
And finally, in addidtion to learning to play and master an instrument you can buy one for yourself or to gift, and from my personal experience music is something very nobel that you can gift somebody and learning music is a very peaceful experience.
Have fun. Peace. 😊

I get very nervous when I sing and it often makes me feel very vulnerable, so I try different teachers and styles to see what might help.

Ravi is an amazing teacher (and human). He made me feel so comfortable, accepted and understood. I really felt I made progress in the lesson I had. I booked another vocal lesson with him and a djembe lesson. It was a privilege to meet and learn from him.

I highly recommend him. He also had other teachers who work for him and are very talented.
