Chattar Manzil is so named because of the shape of its dome, which looks like an umbrella. This was built by Nawab Gazi Uddin Haider but changed many hands thereafter. Currently it is under the Indian Government Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and hence not open to general public and tourists.

The Chattar Manzil is the place of nawabs and their wives. The building was build by Saadat Ali Khan. Its one good place to see if you are travelling to Lucknow.

Chattar Manzil is located on the banks of River Gomati. Nawab Ghazi-ud-din Haider laid its foundation. While I had heard a lot about this attraction, it was poorly kept. It was abandoned.
Even the garden had not been manicured. Chattar Manzil has the Central Drug Research Institute in its premises yet looks desolate. However, none of this took away its beauty.
Chattar Manzil is built in an Indo – Italian style. It has a large umbrella topping on it which gives the monument its name (umbrella = chhatri = Chhatar).

It's an old monument having an umbrella shaped dome. This was built by the Nawab rulers. Now it is an office of Drug Research Institute. Underground rooms and edifice show nawab era architecture.

A beautiful Awadhi style building used by the Nawab of Awadh as his residence. Adjoining this place is another kothi which was owned by a French general Martin Cloud, later purchased by the Nawab. It has excellent French architecture. Both the buildings are in sheer neglect. High time to start protecting our heritage before it goes !

It is a great example of Mughal era architecture. The chattar or umbrella gleams majestically in sunlight. Currently it houses the office of drug research institute of India

I went to Chattar Manzil. The buildings have large underground rooms and a fine dome with gilt umbrella that glitters upon the fall of sun's rays on it. The palace has an excellent garden. It is great place to go.
