On a visit to the school during their independence function, I witnessed a bunch of teachers misbehaving with and humiliating a parent. What example are such teachers setting for the children they are supposed to educate?
Very disappointed and disillusioned. I intend to share my experience with the school's Management Board.

We had a guide for the day to see the highlights of Lucknow. We were at the college for about an hour and were impressived by the architecture and our guide explained some of the history.
It continues to be a working college and places are much sought after. I have the impression that success in sport is greater than academically. The grounds and sports fields are impressive and the students went about their day in a purposeful and polite way.

I have only seen photographs of La Martiniere, the college my father attended in 1934 so it was with great pride that my trip to Lucknow enabled me to have an insight into his school days. I have to agree with all the other reviewers that it's certainly a place to visit with its impressive architecture and military history. We were lucky enough to meet up with the Bursar and Principal who graciously spent time going through past records. A wonderful experience.

Established by Major General Claude Martin(established in 1845). Now its
La Martiniere College, Lucknow one of the best school of northan India. Opened on weekends.
Major General Claude Martin who was born in Lyon-France(1735). He was part of East India company, and had acquired a large amount of land while serving the Nawab of Awadh Asaf-ud-Daula and bequeathed a major part of his estate to establish the schools. He died in Lucknow on 13thSep1800, So day of his death is called as 'Founder's Day' of the school.
This is a must visit place in Lucknow.

The school is a really interesting and unusual stop which I would recommend to anyone visiting Lucknow. I didn't have high expectations but I was wrong. Lovely site, friendly staff and interesting itinerary. You can mingle with staff and students - we were invited to join the (outdoors) morning assembly

I was taken as part of an all day tour of lucknow. Its an actual boarding school now for boys. We couldn't go in due to a school holiday but viewed the grounds. The architecture is not typically indian, possibly due started by a Frenchman Claude Martin who started the the school who was well acquainted with the nawabs. His mistress mausoleum is on the grounds and is a remarkable structure.

Full of history and a legacy that many who passed of this school cherish with love. We went around this place and spent about an hour and a half. Lots of historical information apart from the tomb of Claude Martin. If you are into histary, its worth visiting. Several imposing beautiful structures.

Must visit for a lucknow resident or tourist. It is one of the oldest monument built in british times by Colonel Claude Martin . Lots of renovation work is done and still undergoing by the College management. One should enter through main gate after getting pass issued by security staff and visit entire college campus especially Constantia and Laat area. One should click photos having Constantia in the background.

My Father was a pupil here in 1912 and received a prize book for mathematics at the age of 14, my husband and his brothers were also pupils in the 1940's.
We returned to India with our family of 7 children and ourselves to be able to share with them our love for the country of our birth and also to share our school experiences and The La Martiniere College is not only one of these schools but holds a place in the history of Lucknow itself. We were given a very warm welcome and escorted through the hallowed halls and even climbed to the summit for the first time to view the entire City of Lucknow.
Our only regret was that we were not able to stay longer to celebrate Founders Day on the 13th September. May the school always maintain it's high standard of education and may the present pupils remember the school with all the affection we hold for it.
Vive La Martiniere. Eric and Maureen Young.

I have heard from my seniors so much about this educational institution that I wanted to pay a visit. But, unfortunately, one is not allowed in. From whatever I saw from a vantage point of the property and the demeanour of the students, it looked good.

Hi , What are the timings for visit or if there aren't any timings would the security staff allow if asked for a walk around ?
Written April 17, 2017
Yes, you can walk around during school hours. I usually visit in the morning with a group of people. If you want to enter classroooms you need to ask the teachers. Butthe grounds and the Chapel with the tomb underneath is open for visitors.
