Beautiful palace but we went on a day it was extremely crowded. Be prepared to be jostled and walk thru some really narrow staircases. They try to push the elephant ride (about $30 / INR 2500) which you can use to go up the hill (about 10 min) but we decided to walk up the convenient pathways and large steps leading to the palace. Restrooms are well maintained but over crowding and long queues make it hard to navigate. Be prepared to be hustled by both guides and peddlers. We used our Hotel provided guide which was very useful as they guided us through both ticketing as well as the key locations. A must if you are going there for the first time.

The Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors) is one of the most refined and fascinating palaces inside the Red Fort of Agra; its name derives from the refined mosaics created on the walls and ceilings of its rooms, with elaborate compositions of small mirrors, brought specifically from the city of Aleppo, in Syria, to create floral or geometric designs.
At the time of its construction (it was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, the same one who built the Taj Mahal, in the first half of the 17th century), a myriad of candles were lit inside its rooms, which created in the darkness magical plays of light, with reflections that are said to illuminate the entire palace.
The mix of Mughal and Indian architecture stands out in the works, making the refined style and extraordinary skill of the craftsmen and artists of the time evident.
The palace was built in red sandstone and white marble, and consists of two rooms separated by a courtyard; it was created to be used as a bathroom for the emperor, and for this purpose tanks and fountains were provided, which could be supplied with hot or cold water. The installation of marble doors then allowed the rooms to be transformed into saunas.

While I know little about architecture I love the angles and arches of it, this place fit right into that! There are so many beautiful spots I could have spent way longer just walking around soaking it in and taking pictures. I suggest a guide as they know all the interesting angles to take great pictures of you! We also learned quite a bit from out guide, making the palace and it's history more interesting. If for no other reason I recommend stopping here for the sheer beauty it provides!

Located in Agra Fort, it is so called because of the mirrors embedded in the ceiling and walls. This was the royal bath. You can see it from the outside and maybe peep through the opening in the door if you are lucky as the place is out of bounds and has been closed for a long time now. If you can get close, and it is possible as this is India and who you know or how much you can pay someone, will open door. No one knows why it is closed.

Per my Tour Guide, the small palaces built inside the Red Fort was consturcted to honor members of the Royal Family such as daughters, etc. This is one of these palaces.

I admired the i tricate paintings on the walls and celings. Took some pictures and visited the other related palaces.

There are Sheesh Mahal, or palaces of mirrors, in Amer, Lahore and Orchha. The one in Agra Fort is less impressive than others, but still worth a visit - if only for the beautiful pietra dura flowers in the white marble. And, anyway, you've paid your ticket into Agra Fort, so may as well.

It is one of the most beautiful palaces to visit in Agra. However, due to people pulling out the glassed from walls, access to this palace has been restricted of late. Despite incidences of vandalism, the palace remains beautiful as ever!

Beautifully crafted. The walls and ceilings are stuffed with mirrors and the total attire is splendid. The Taj Mahal can be seen from the windows.
