Visit this shop if only to observe the craftsmen using 17th techniques to produce the Pietra Dura, intricately carved inlaid floral designs of precious and semiprecious stones, similar to those that adorn the Taj Mahal. The showrooms are a kaleidoscope of colored table tops, trays, coasters and boxes and the proprietor and artists take great pride in showing their wares. Cold drinks are offered as you take in the bejeweled merchandise, and while the larger pieces were magnificent they would not work with our home's decor. But it was impossible to resist a delicate octagonal box with over 700 inlaid pieces, some as fine as a silver thread, that today gleams on my bedside table as a reminder of a treasured visit to the Taj Mahal.

The competence and professionality of this shop is really amazing. They provided not only high quality goods by excellent service in shipping the goods abroad and supported my purchases from the moment they left the shop in Agra to the moment they reached my house.
Do not forget to ask for Form A at the moment of the purchase, you will save the custom fee in Italy!

We bought a table and base here depicting the tree of life. Its beautiful and seeing the artisans at work certainly influenced our decision to buy. We paid a little under £2000 but were reassured that the craftsmen get paid a fair wage for the work that they do as we were buying from a cottage industry. The problem began once the table arrived in England. Despite reassurance from the owner that the only extra cost to pay would be the delivery from the port to our address, we were stung with £900 customs and port duties, which came as a bit of a shock.

Be careful! I was brought here by my tour guide. Bought simple jewelry marble box, but I learned the same day that it was extremely overpriced. Like 3x the market price. I felt forced to even buy more of their items after spending one already. Just be mindful to explore other stores before listening to their pitch. After leaving the store the man who will show you how they are made ran after me and forcing me to buy a Taj magazine for 1,000 Rupees. Window shop before you buy. They are quite knowledgeable of the marbles and story of Taj, they sell very good looking marble tables and they ship internationally. Just shop around and compare and you get better deal. Funny now I can't see them on Google review. Matbe because theyre afraid to let the people know of their tactics.

They lied to us, did false representation and were extremely dishonest.
We ended up buying a stone elephant with another elephant carved inside: they sold it to us for ~10,000 rupees and we just saw the same thing in a large shop in Mumbai for ~3,500 rupees. My girlfriend bought cup holders which they sold us for ~8,700 rupees and we saw the same thing for 2,500 in Mumbai.

I would qualify their shop as fraudulent and unethical. You should not buy a single item in there. I still can't believe how much they rip off their customers

In August 2013 i visited the Marble Cottage with my friend and purchased a marble table to be delivered to Australia. When the package arrived, the marble top was exquisite and exactly as I had ordered. However there was no wooden base for it to sit upon. Upon contacting Azhar via email, he advised that the base was not included in the sale. This was a huge disappointment as how was I to display the marble top? My understanding was that the base and top made the table and we had measured the size in the store ensuring that it would fit snuggly in a corner of my room and there was a place for the light fitting to illuminate the marble top. The invoice read - "One table in white marble 12''. Several emails went back and forth with Azhar stated that he charged only for a table not a base and that he never sends wooden articles. I have a friend here in Australia who was sent a base with her marble top which she purchased in Agra and there were no problems. Now maybe there is confusion with the languages but to me a table is- a base with legs and a top! Finally Azhar offered to refund me the price of the base - 300 rupees - $5 or I could collect the base when next I or my friends visit Agra. Neither of these options are satisfactory. So sad that such a beautiful piece of artwork is sitting on the floor and that I have had to go through this disappointing experience.

Not a bad place to visit, but (a) far too expensive (at least 5 times to normal price), (b) far too pushing on buying and (c) I do not believe that all the work presented is handicraft...... You see some people working, but there some evident are sings that several objects are machine made. In all: its a tourist trap

Save your money - they have the same stuff at every single market in India. Even if you don't negotiate at those markets, still 1/20th of the price. This place is a scam.

Our guide was insisting on taking us here. He was keen on getting his cut of our purchases. I'm not a big fan of that kind of tricks. Why not play fair?

Most of the guides are their commission agents and will force you to visit this place in order to view taj mahal in different lights. They have build a marbel tajmahal dummy (3 feet size approx) and will put lights and will try to give you a feeling of tajmahal in different light. That's a 2 mins activity basically. Then starts the actual game of forcing you to buy things from the shop. Just avoid. and don't even go I would say.
