Visited in December. Our original plans to visit at sunrise were cancelled due to dense fog. Instead we visited on a Saturday afternoon, when it was much clearer, although inevitably slightly hazy. It was extremely crowded, full of intrusive hawkers around the ticket office and noisy, especially in the mausoleum containing the two royal tombs (which are replicas). Instead of... More

You know intellectually that this is a top sight on the planet, but that does not substitute for feeling it yourself when you first glimpse it, get closer, and then immerse yourself in its beauty. You must FEEL this building by being in its gracious presence. You'll know what I mean if you go. Other than this direct experience, you... More

What can I add to what has already been said about the Taj Mahal. There is a reason why it is part of the 7 wonder of the world. After the long drive our family was ready to hit the hotel and start fresh the next day. Luckily, our driver said, "I'll give you 20 minutes to freshen up but... More

Absolute must if in India! We visited on one of the busiest days of the year, 31 Dec, not advised without a guide, we would have struggled to get in without one if honest. Extremely busy with long queues although tourists do have a different queue which is shorter. Males and females, as is the norm in India, are separated... More

Yes is it awesome but you had better have a very well prepared and private guide when seeing this attraction. When we went there were 16 on our tour, the guide did not use a whisperer device so we could barely hear him and some were left behind at times. Unlike other sites in the world there is not any... Upon entering the archway that gives the first glimpse of this spectacular structure I was struck by how enormous and elegant it was. The architectural detail is simply stunning, and don't miss the gardens and fountains that lead you up to the main building as they are just as beautiful. You would ideally need a couple of hours here to... More

Must see place on every visitors list. During our last vacation in Dec 2016, we visited Taj. The TajMahal, the peak of Mughal architecture is one of the unanimously admired masterpiece of the world's inheritance. It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, grandson of Akbar the great, in the memory of his queen Arjumand Bano Begum, entitled Mumtaz... More
