This is the oldest station in the city of Agra (1874), but it's currently not the most important: the Agra Cantonment station (opened in 1902) surpasses it, being located on the primary north-south line Delhi-Gwalior
Agra Fort station connects the Tundla junction (to the east, on the Delhi-Kolkata mainline) and Rajasthan (especially the city of Jaipur) to the west. It shows its relative antiquity above all thanks to its nineteenth-century porticoed facade of red color.
The interior and exterior of the station have, throughout the day, the crowded and frantic appearance of any Indian station of some importance. However, there are also quiet corners inside station, where it's easy to see macaques looking for food.

Better than New Delhi or Jaipur - this station is cleaner and has more character than the others. Our overnight train to Allahabad was only a little late getting in and I shared a four berth cabin with a holy man !
The Chai wallah arrived about 6:30am and I had a welcome cup of Masala Chai for breakfast.
