Longest life of Lord Buddha is here

Shravasti is a quiet and calm small town (village is preferred) Here, in Buddhist's Tripitaka describes that Lord Buddha spent his life 25 years hear in Jetavan temple. This town was a large capital of 1 in 6 largest kingdoms in India since 2500 year ago, Kosol Kingdom. Most of Buddhist stories were originated in this city. There are several building and stupa ruins remaining since Asoka's period. Several places have not been managed yet, you can enter and walk around for free. (Excluding one, Jetavan Temple archaeological park)

There are 2-3 hotels welcoming travelers or you can ask any buddhist temples where always welcome tourists. Taking nights in these temples are always free but please give donation.

Travelling to here you have to catch a train to Gonda junction station. Here there are several Indian drivers offer private jeep cost 1000-1500 INR to Shravasti. (I tried bargaining to 800 INR) Or you might take a shared jeep 200 INR to Shravasti (Need bargain skill) However, the cheapest way is take a local meter gauge train from Gonda Junction station to Balrumpur 10 INR/person, 3 train a day for go and back. (Timetable check in www.erail.in) then take a shared tuk-tuk to Shravasti with 20 INR/person, yeah! 20 INR/person for 15 km. English is not popular language here but hands and drawing skill communication can help you well!

Biggest temple of Lord Buddha in India

ruins of old building, Jatvana and meditation centre is superb. Meditation Centre premises having meditation hall, Lord Buddha Statue, park and Lord Buddha Temple.

Historical Site of Lord Buddha

In Shravasti there is a magnificent garden where Buddha had spent 25 years of his life. A merchant name Anathapindika invited Buddha to stay in Shravasti and built a monastery and named Jetavana.There is also so many monastery to accompanied his disciples.There is also a Bodhi tree which Anathapindiki had planted it but named under Shin Annada one of Buddha disciple.

here lord buddha spend most of his life on teaching..... on jetavana forest, in temple donated by anathapindhika
PS : pls be careful of beggar who pretend as local tour guide (don't believe places they inform like ananda stupa, kassapa stupa, etc... it's all false information) and fake monks who pretends chanting

Buddha circuits

An important part of Buddha circuits and it houses the relics of a stupa and remains of sateh and mateh. The lord Buddha had spent four months of rainy season for 24 years when he didnot travel. The disciples planted the kalpvriksha tree where they used to worship Buddha.

Place of International Importance

This place is also known as Jetvana. A daquoit Angulimaal was supposed to be given Dharm Gyan by lord Gautam Buddha here. The place is locally famous by name of Sahet-Mahet.
