Garden is located at slope which makes it difficult to see around with small kid. Compared to garden in Kolkata, nothing appreciable. Good place to wander if have ample time and energy

Budget hotels in Singapore (15 Replies)
Hello, We're going to Singapore for three nights next February and I'd like some opinions on budget hotels. I'm aware that hotels aren't cheap anyway but which area do you think is the best for budget hotels? We'd like to be near street markets and eating outlets, possibly near an MRT so we can get to and from the airport. We'd also like a good breakfast at the hotel, if possible. We're planning on making a day of the Botanical Gardens but we're not bothered about staying nearby, as long as...More

Samah, Public transportation in Singapore is excellent. I think I have given you this link below before. Using gothere online mapping tool is the best way to find out about costs, public transport routes and options, and how far from a bus stop or MRT station the attraction is. Or, use streetdirectory. I like it because you can also search for your hotel, then enter in say Botanic Gardens and click on get directions. Even bus stops are shown on streetdirectory map, and when you click on...More

Feedback on two week itinerary in July 2015 (3 Replies)
Hi, I've done a fair bit of research about good places to go etc and public transport, but would really appreciate some feedback from those of you who have more of an idea of how reliable the transport is and how much time we're likely to spend in each place! Background: We're both happy with travelling around, but ideally aiming to spend two nights in each hotel. Like a mix of culture, scenery, relaxing on the beach time. Would rather travel public transport as much as possible to keep...More

Hi Louise, Good homework and good questions! Small corrections: * 13th P'ruwa would be 1 hour by bus. But seeing your plans I suggest Habarana as base instead of P'ruwa. It has a railway station too (though probably you'd travel to Gal Oya by bus or tuktuk for the Trinco train unless there is a connection with proper timing) and you are at the base for Minneriya safaris. * 10th I'd do tea factory too, means less need in Kandy for that And answers * No indeed Minneriya would be enough...More
