Elk Hills is a misnomer for a hilltop in Ooty. You can't see any Elks! It was originally known as Bishop Town where in 1925 Swami Shivananda, one of the Disciples of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsar established the first RK Mutt. Today there is a Sterling Resorts opp to this RK Mutt attracting tourists who come for a comfortable stay! Cool... More

This temple dedicated to lord Balathandayuthabani is a replica of Palani hills. Recently they have also made a long statue of Muruga, which is replica of Bathumalai, in Malasiya.

This place is not popular among locals so its a bit difficult to visit. Better to go in own vehicle or hired for to and fro. No transportation facility. There were nearly 100 stairs so its difficult for old people.

We stayed at the Elk hill - Sterling resort and the place is awesome. The views are great from the Elk hill and you get to see the entire city from here. Both the morning and evening views were excellent. The market area is not very far from here , around 2 kms.
