A typical chozha temple with Temple towers scaling heights with interesting sculptures. An art lover would love to spend atleast a day for seeing the entire temple. The raja gopuram is 5 tiered and is facing east. Covered by a beautiful moat, temple looks like a mini fort in an island. This chozha marvel has so many Beautiful Goshta sculptures in the Pithi Suvar around the temple. The bikshadana murthy sculpture in the main sanctum sanctorum would leave us speachless. Temple is also special for the reverence in the 7th century shaivaite canon and for Thirunavukkarasar attaining eternal salvation here.

Recently I have visited Sri Agneeswaraswami temple at Thirupugalur along with my parents & Abi sister (Myladuthurai), The temple is praised in the hymns of Saivite Saint Tirugnanasambandar and is counted as one of the 275 Paadal petra stalams. The presiding deity of the temple is Agneeswarar / Saranyapureeswarar along with his consort Karuthazkuzhali. We have offered our humble prayers to the deities. There are 3 different sanctum available for Lord Shiva - Where if we sit and meditate tells our past, present & future. It was a huge temple. A must visit for Lord Shiva devotees.
