Been here several times and every time we visit, we find something new. A place with rich history, superb architecture and religious significance. People need to understand the importance of Madurai and this temple to appreciate the development of Tamil as a language and the tamil culture.

Filled with history, and one of the grandest temples ever built for a Goddess, this temple is what brings hoardes to Madurai. The Gopuram is magnificient structure that cannot be missed from even afar. Do not forget to try the Jigarthanda

Visited the temple on two evenings and had "darshan"of Amman and Swamy. The temple has four imposing towers at each direction . There is also a thousand pillar area which is maintained as a museum. Even non hindus also can go a visit the temple and museum, but cannot enter the main temple where deity is kept.

Parking is pain here unless you know where to park, we caught a guide this time and he took us to the... More
