A huge Temple and architectural Marvel with poor maintenance, arrogant staff and poor crowd management and confusing entrances/exit If you are not from Madurai and if you are visiting for the first time, you will curse when you come out and if you come out. The entrances and exits are so confusing. The chappal collectors are very arrogant and misguide.... More

One of the biggest temples, Walking around needs a lot of time. Purchased the 100 Rs. Ticket and was able to get free in 2 hours. A guide would be useful to explain and guide you around

Security check compulsory, mobile camera 50 rs ticket but not followed strictly, numerous deities to Darshan so may take atleast 2 hours, Best to buy 100 rs ticket to have quicker darshan, its inclusive of both sivan meenakshi , Visit 1000 pillar mantap and museum Don't buy kumkum as its costly though they say its cheap

Meenakshi - such a beautiful idol of the goddess i have not seen any where. serene and the feeling of bliss that you get when you see the goddess and Shiva is indescribable. do not miss the architecture of the temple. take the audio guide as that is very good and helpful.

If you only see one temple, make sure it is Meenakshi Amman Temple. It is an experience you cannot forget. A massive site which is in use. The people are very friendly inside the temple, but you do get the usual beggars and hawkers outside. A bit of care, and you will love this place.

Huge beautiful temple. A highlight of our month long trip around India. We visited twice - one during the day and then for the evening ceremony. Loved both.

Went to the temple in the evening and found it to be so peaceful. Going in the car took me sometime to find parking. North Gate Parking is the best as there is ample space. You can leave your footwear for free next to the temple. If you carry any valuables can also deposit with Rs. 2/- per bag. Mobile... More

The main reason to visit Madurai is to see this amazing Hindu temple. Its a very busy place which is surrounded by various shops and eateries as well as the usual hawkers.

Truly magnificent and enthralling. Had a very spiritual, mesmerising and beautiful experience. Had always heard of Meenakshi temple and it's fame. After visiting the temple truly agree .. seeing is believing.. the stories , the history , the mythology behind each idol and construction marvel left me spell bound

500 years old monument. Unbelievable architecture. Presence of tourist guide may be better. Cameras are not allowed free of cost.
