The dam is amazing if you go during rainy seasons or after rainy seasons when the dam is full. The dam also has a park that is quite nice, but could have been maintained properly. The fish around the area is very tasty.

As dams go, this is one of the crucial one, across R. Bhavani which drains the Nilgiris. Large reservoir. Garden fairly small only. Worth visiting once.
