Great example for Chola architecture!
Jan 2020
This is a magnificent temple truly depicting the temple architecture of Chola period.
Plan your visit before 12 noon or after 5 pm, as the temple is closed from 12 to 5 pm.
Hundreds of exquisitely carved pillars cross bars. Highly commercialized, you need to take a rs 200 ticket to get close to the sanctum sanctorum.
The tower, the plinth, everything is beautifully carved. Photography is not permitted inside the temple.

The Nataraja Temple
Dec 2019
Chidambaram Nataraja temple dedicated to Nataraja – Shiva as the lord of dance. The temple architecture symbolizes the connection between the arts and spirituality, creative activity and the divine. This is a very big temple, very vast temple complex with great Dravidian architecture, one of the oldest temples in the state. Visit this temple before 12 PM or after 5 PM. in between it remains closed.

Visit to Chidambaram Nataraja Temple
Dec 2019
Very big temple. You can see the deity easily inspite of the crowd. You need to take Rs 200 ticket to get very near the deity. If you are there at 1300 hrs you can see the Abisheka for Spatika Nataraja and Maragada Nataraja. The abisheka will go till 1430 hrs but worth seeing. You can walk around and go to different sannidis. You can spend about 4 hrs here.

Temple visit
Sep 2019
very vast temple complex with great Dravidian architecture. Not that crowded. May not be easy for aged people to negotiate all the walk inside the complex. Definitely a must visit like many other temples in the state...

Nadarajar abishegam
Sep 2019 • Family
If you're a keen devotee of Nadarajar...attending a nadarajar abishegam is something you should plan as a must see. The nadarajar abishegam takes place 6 times in a year with arudhra darisanam and aani thirumanjanam being the biggest events where he comes out of the temple on a chariot. The remaining 4 abishegams are held within the rajasabha aka. Chitsabha area. Amidst the crowded temple where everyone wants to see the Lord of dance bathe....the sight is to behold. Unforgettable. It starts in the evening after 6pm. Delays highly possible with it only beginning at 8pm even.
Do get into the chitsabha area at 4.30pm to find a decent place to see the abishegam. Carry some water as a priority and biscuits or dried fruits n nuts or chocolates as it will be a treat when you feel a sugar craving.
Abishegam lasts 3 hours plus. Wait and see the closing ceremony after the poojai is over. That's another must to complete the day.
Do not think everyone will sit through the abishegam. Once it starts everyone who seems docile and composed sitting will become hyper to see the Lord and the pushing and tussle will begin. Bearable but you'd feel breathless at times with the smell of sweat and claustrophobia. Not advisable to stand in this crowd with small children.

An amazing event / sight to watch. Listen to the bells chime... the clockwork methods used by the dikshitars to perform their duties. The flowers and the glow from the Lord and Goddess Shivagamasundari.

In short... no regrets!! You'd crave for MORE.
