We were probably the only persons, who didn't have any other cars following them. As it was deep into rainy season, we were the only ones who went to Gurudongmer lake that day.. After crossing the 14K army camp, the scenario changes drastically from pleasant alpine terrain to barren icy deserts, with remarkable similarity to Tsomoriri Lake route. But what... More

Was extremely lucky that I could make it to this place on my first visit to Sikkim. At 17000ft, this place will make your head go dizzy since lack of oxygen is evident. Not recommended to take children, senior citizens and people with high BP and ailments.

the Lake that never entirely freezes presents you with a vision of Clear Blue .... stretching from one end to another... take your breath away the moment you lay eyes on this lake from the window of your car..... We left for our destination at 3:30 am... pitch black and a whole lotta jumpy bumpy gravelly road... a problem if... More

Well to reach Lake Gurudongmaar takes a bit of journey as you have to leave your hotel at Lachen (altitude: 12000 fts) at early morning 3 AM so that you can reach by 7 AM to this beautiful place which situated at 17000 fts. The journey itself is very beautiful as you enter into the deserted area full of military... More

A long journey from Gangtok to reach Gurudongmar Lake. A must night stay at Lachen. It is worth to stay there to start for Gurudongmar lake very early in the morning by 3.30 to 4.00 AM from Lachen. A lake is really a place to connect with God with clear sky.

Dont run or walk fast as it might cause AIMS drink water from the lake as it is considered holy and full of beneficial qualities. Enjoy and click as many pics as possible and try to keep... More

My pick from the beautiful Lakes Of Great Himalayas.. A trip to Sikkim is not complete without a visit to North Sikkim, which has some of the most spectacular valley views of the Yumthang Valley, most picturesque villages -- Lachung and Lachen and the Gurudongmar Lake -- one of the most beautiful, spectacular and sacred lakes surrounded on all sides... If you do not believe in God or his creations do come and visit this place. its heaven on earth. Visited this in the month of December. its was extremely cold and the air too thin to breath. But it was one of an experience. Missed the snow/ice though as the lake was still not frozen.
