Located at a height of 17100 ft, gurudongmar lake is a quite peaceful location offering mesmerizing views of snow capped mountains! Though it takes around 4-5 hours to reach this place from Lachen on a bumpy road, the destination makes you forget about your ride with feel of excitement and exhilaration around. There are several check posts on the way... More

The crown jewel of north sikkim, holy Gurudongmar Lake is simply mesmerizing to say the least. Once you step out of the car u will feel like you have come to a different world. With less than 3% oxygen it becomes hard to breathe after 30 - 40 mins anyone who is fairly fit. We managed to stay there for... More

This place is like heaven..I just want nature lovers to just visit this place once. You will surely love this place. But as the altitude is very high there may be breathing problem.

This place is just 'out of this world'.It just feels like heaven when you reach there. One has to start at 4 o clock from Lachen to reach there at around 8 to 8.30.The road is bumpy but the travel, the scenic beauty was amazing. The snow cladded mountains in the moonlight just glitters like silver. The army is active all throughout the way... Oh my god - that was a great experience! Started very early in the morning from Lachen and we went through all the bumpy roads! We stopped in Thanku for breakfast. Some more bumpy roads and we reached in Military Check Post. The officer said that they can't take my children. However, after requesting the Major, they allowed us to... More

This lake was supposed to be the highlight of our trip to North Sikkim but turned out to be sorely disappointing. I travelled with 2 friends and lovingly planned this trip, read up a lot of reviews but nothing really prepared us for this. Among the reasons, the deplorable road conditions would be 1 to 10. In fact the Lachen... More

This lake is one amongst the most prettiest of lakes. At an altitude above 17000ft this lake is so beautiful with its icy and colorful shades. This lake is considered sacred by people of sikkim

Its a long bumpy drive to reach this place but totally worth it. Place is really cold and you cannot stay here for long (though we wish we could). Very Peaceful and surreal. I just wish government improves the roads condition to make it more accessible.

Gurudongmar is located at a height of nearly 18,000 feet (5,430 m approx). The drive to the lake is picturesque - I couldn't stop taking photos. There is an army checkpoint on the way - the army personnel usually check the passengers - we were a young group so they just looked at us and let us go. But they... More

The place, the views and everything at this place is incredible. You might face some breathing problems at Gurudongmar lake as the air become thicker. So don't do any stuff like running, jumping etc. Which will lead to breathing problem. When I wen there on September 2016, I just walked little bit faster to record some videos and suddenly breathing... More
