Awesome visit!
Jan 2021
Stumbled upon this place while browsing shops for paintings and curios. What caught my eye was that they gave Art Lessons in miniature paintings. Had an awesome 3 hr long session with Ali where we recreated a Rajasthani version of The Beatles - Abbey Road album cover! Rekindled my childhood love for the arts and was thankful to have this near-therapeutic experience!

Best souvenir you could have for yourself
Apr 2019
Bump into this place when we were walking around the city and did a quick miniature painting session within 2 hours. Turned out this is one of our best experience during the trip and the best souvenir we get for ourselves.
Pick a sample you like to draw and off you go! Our tutor Ali is a brilliant teacher who has more than 20 years' drawing experience, he guided us through out the whole process and fix our final works. You don't have to be a brilliant painter to enjoy this workshop, all you need is patient and the love of painting.

Lovely Experience
Mar 2020 • Solo
I had a two hour class with Ali to learn a traditional miniature painting. It was such an enjoyable and unique experience and Ali was very patient and good at giving instructions. It was reasonably priced, relaxing and fun to do something different amidst the chaos of the city! Thank you so much Ali! I was pretty pleased and surprised with my painting by the end. I’m an experienced but out of practice artist, but I can imagine that if you have no background in art this class would still be great and you’d learn a lot!

Definitely worth visiting!

A great place - be it for shopping, learning, or admiring art. Very friendly and considerate people. Eager to answer questions about Indian arts, beliefs, customs, or contemporary life. No pressure to buy anything. Fair prices, which are fixed (no manipulation with your presumable "ability to afford paying more" or seasonal demand fluctuations). The selection of objects is diverse and ranges from very affordable good items to real real masterpieces(!).

Ali's art lesson
Feb 2020 • Couples
Can't recommend enough. My boyfriend and I had a miniature painting lesson with Ali today and it was fantastic. He was a brilliant teacher, guiding us through step by step and we each have a painting we are truly proud of. Only rs.200/rs.250 per hour, depending on whether you use paper/silk. We worked slowly and ended up taking 4 1/2 hours but it flew by! Thank you Ali!

Art Class with Ali
Feb 2020 • Couples
My wife and I took a miniature art painting class with Ali and we absolutely loved the experience! It definitely falls in our top 3 experiences from our entire Rajasthan trip. We both are beginner level drawers and painters, but Ali was very supportive and patient with our inexperience. He taught us techniques in drawing and painting and allowed us to do the entire work, only stepping in when he suspected us hitting a road block. He was great in offering suggestions on color schemes and what designs to utilize to garner an art piece we would appreciate. I spent 4 hours because I took my time but typically, Ali says it takes around 3 hours. For 200 rupees per hour per person, we ended up going back the next day because we were so happy with our art that we wanted another creation. Obviously it's not the same level of work that you can find at the shops, but we felt it was more cost effective creating our own piece to take home to display!

Best friendly art shop in Udaipur
Feb 2020 • Friends
Great friendly art shop in Udaipur! Absolutely the best place to find some exquisite art. It is hidden behind a small entrance, but once inside you will be marveled at the quality and authenticity of the pieces displayed inside! The staff are also very helpful and love their job! Therefore, I would highly recommend to any and all who wish to buy some of the renown Rajasthani art, historical and modern!

Highlight of our time in Udaipur
Jan 2020 • Friends
Five of us were able to walk in and do an art class at Ashoka, and it was well worth the 250 rupees! Our teacher was Hitesh and he was able to make anyone an artist with his patience and skill. What a great experience and keepsake :)
