The Fateh Prakash Palace is a new palace compared to the City Palace. Hence it reflects the modern architecture ,but in a very royal way . Take the audio guide, that will be provided free of cost with Crystal Gallery ticket. Should not miss Crystal Gallery n Fateh Prakash Palace.

A visit to this palace pushes you envisioning life hundreds of years back.
The Kings and Maharajas of India lived in heavenly abodes with all the grandeur and pompousness at there disposal.
Wanna glimpse of the great Indian Maharaja lifestyle, a visit to this palace is a must.
Also, enjoy the expensive Light and Sound show taking place at around 7pm.

The palace is nice and beautiful however the saddest part is they don’t have facilities for senior citizens and people with special needs. I traveled with my parents who are 65 plus, and my father has had a knee surgery so he cannot climb up and the walk is long. We requested for club cars but they just mocked and moved ahead. Till I went and complained to Mr Porwal the manager in charge no respect was given, if you charge for Senior citizens you need to provide the services needed. Atleast there should be club cars and ramps. If india doesn’t make these changes then the tourism will still be less popular

It can be called as heart of Udaipur, no tickets required, around 7 kms circuit road around the lake.
A must visit place, it's crowded specially during evening hours.
Early morning is the best time to visit it.

One needs to buy a separate ticket for this palace which is located @ the end of City palace.
Audio tour is available & that makes the visit interesting as it includes many anecdotes.
This palace is now a grand heritage palace hotel with the corridors lined with large paintings of the Mewar School that flourished through the 17th to the 19th century.
The USP of this palace is a large CRYSTAL GALLERY that has a breath taking collection of crystals.
BUT NO PHOTOGRAPHY IS ALLOWED INSIDE THE CRYSTAL GALLERY
especially noteworthy are those that were ordered by Maharana Sajjan Singh from
F & C Osler England but could not live to see them because of his untimely death.
The crystal items include tables, sofa sets, dining tables, dressers, fountains & even beds besides a whole array of washing bowls, & perfume bottles.
There is also an exquisite jewel studded carpet.
also , the views of Lake pichola & Jag niwas palace from the Crystal gallery are awesome.
Fateh prakash palace has beautiful manicured gardens & also houses a Vintage car museum.

City Palace, Udaipur is a must see place. No tour of Udaipur can be considered complete unless you visit the city palace and its museum in the company of a Guide. Tour without guide is like watching a movie without sound. Only a Guide there can explain the intricacies of paintings, the glass work, the parts of the palace, the importance of jharokhas and what not. The ticket is Rs. 300 per person but worth it and the Guide costs Rs. 400.00. Be ready to do a good exercise, up and down but enjoyable. I bet you alone will get caught in small avenues of the palace or strike your head somewhere in the doorways, intentionally kept of lesser height. There is interesting story of war of Maharana Pratap depicted through a painting. How the kings used to cover the mouth of their horses with an elephant trunk made of cloth so that elephants don't attack them. There is interesting story of the chair and horses presented to Raja Fateh Singh by Lord of British as he was the only king who didn't accept his subjugation and invitation on transfer of capital of India from Calcutta to Delhi. There are windows that bring in whiffs of fresh air from the lake. And there are windows through which you can see outside but outsiders can't see you. A lot to see and put your finger under your teeth in astonishment!

We arrived to be greeted with floral garlands and were made to feel special as we checked in. I had been worried that, with a late check in at a busy time of year and a relatively cheap online booking, we would end up with a sub standard room. Not at all. The room we were led to was gorgeous, large and with a separate seating area looking over the lake. Very peaceful.
After four nights at Fateh Prakash I am looking forward to our next visit. We ate and drank well in their lake view restaurant on our first night. They arranged rickshaws for trips into town when we asked and sorted out tickets for the annual horse worshipping festival. I don't know if they had a gym - I didn't ask - but they did keep the room well replenished with plates of nuts, raisins and fruit and you could indulge in biscuits and chocolates too, all without extra charge. The wifi was complimentary as were lots of large bottles of water. The decor was old and fabulous - don't expect shiny new fittings here but prepare to enjoy a great old world experience.

One of the best palaces around. And there are plenty to choose from. Exceptionally well preserved, spacious with wonderful views. Avoid busy times as coach loads head for this place.
